Siberian tiger is nothing special. Very exaggerated subspecies, they aren't giants among tigers. Overall tiger vs lion is eternal arguing of children and adults with childish mindset. No-one knows answer to this question and that's why people argue about it without answer
Before the comment section turns into lion fans vs tiger fans, please note the below:
1. There is a very slim chance that these two will come face to face in their natural habitat.
2. Lions are usually never alone unlike tigers.
3. Tigers are bigger and stronger but lions have more warfare experience as lions hunt in pride and frequently. Also male lions have to fight other males to defend their territory.
4. If they ever come face to face for a fight for survival, although the lion's mane protects the neck, the tiger has more chance of winning due to bigger size and strength, but again it can go either way depending on who strikes first.
5. As an animal lover and especially a cat lover, I love both these majestic cats.

Besides the bigger size, mass and power, I guess the biggest advantage the tiger has over the lion is to stay on his hind legs while fighting with both front paws at the same time, while the lion has to have 3 legs on the ground while fighting with one. And if you have ever seen the forearms of a tiger, jesus, these are rocket launchers. Bombarding your opponents head with lethal blows from both bazookas, while being superior in mass, size and power at the same time, there is not much room for the lion to win this fight one on one.

As someone who has been involved in “Game dogs” back when it was not yet illegal and Game Birds still to this day where it is tradition and legal, i can tell you that it is the individual that matters the most. It can be argued that you can pick the best representative for the siberian and the best reprasentative of the biggest lion. If the lion because of its mane and constant sparring or having practice fights with its comrades it can win against the bigger stronger tiger. However if you pick a siberian tiger and school it by pitting it against lions in controlled practice fights assuming it can be done and he gets or acquires the skills he needs to fight a battle hardened lion, then his advantage in size and athleticsm may give him the edge because Tigers even the smaller ones are pound for pound more athletic to lions of compareable size. In short it depends as said on the individual, the training, skill, power, and a little bit of luck.

I don’t think those are pure blood barbarians, I think they’re hybrids. Basically what happened is a group of lions in containment were found to have ancestors that were barbarian by going through their family tree basically. They have some of the genes of their barbarian ancestors but they’re basically mutts. Maybe they can get lucky and recreate the pure barbarians through technology somehow with the hybrids that they have access to.

i have seen a tiger face to face. i was in a resort near corbett national park, i went out just for a walk and i saw a tiger just casually walk in the middle of it road. before i could get a heart attack or piss my pants he just went back to bushes. it was not some very remote area but couple of small roadside shops where there.

Two things more. Typically sib has stronger forearms. But also, lion's neck and belly are armored by heavy mane, so tiger has nowhere to bite or scratch. Only perhaps to try breaking his neck by heavy thump, or crippling him and then proceed.
They don't brake necks by swiping, when opponent is as big and strong as itself. And lion and tiger are practically same cat with different fur.

@@karnam7444 i know your trolling but yes i believe a jaguar can kill a lion if trained. Its agility and power can quickly break the lions jaw or neck bones if it goes for that. But untrained the size difference and strength is just too much. Against a siberian tiger though which is the largest representative of the breed its just too much as tigers are very athletic. I think the lion lost that athleticsm because they learned to hunt efficiently in groups.

as an ex boxer, this reminds me of the debates we always had of a champ from years gone by to a champ of today. These are fun conversations but unfortunately its all just opinion and educated guess. I'm no fun lol, I always say in a very even matchup, the fighter who gets in the first hard punch will win. This is a close one, I'd pick the tiger too by a slight margin

As i always say, lion vs tiger is a risky fight for both. In a close range fight where the space is tight the tiger may lose. He will not be able to fight defensively and will have less choices. This is where the lion will have abit of advantage cause his neck is unbitable. BUT, in a spacy arena sort of thing, as per your ancient story (if its true), then the tiger will have advantage too as he can backup easily and uses his only technic "harms". Put in mind the tiger can only kill the lion by causing him multiple injuries in the face with his defensive style (if the lion is careless), but this after a very longgg fight as lion skin in deep. There is no other way, however the lion can kill the tiger in many ways and in ever situation (if well attacked). "Anyway i doubt about your arena's story, cause where there's big space, the tiger always try to escape as first option.

But the lion doesnt backup against any land animal. And that is natively and not for fighting, feeding or any other reason...The pride is the meaning of the Lion being the King of others, it is God's doing and not to try to put it under some logics, but that's necessarily not mean the strongest of all. So that lion inner/born with fear from other animals is the reason of alot of backups and possibly alot of lost fights.
