Nothing better than a talented person showing what their life is about and what the songs mean to them. Stories with sound effects. Dig it.
Just the best man😊
Yeah I think 1952 Vincent Black Lightning displays Mr.Rowe’s skills as a guitarist. Love his earthly voice. Sean Rowe and a double Scotch makes a great moment.
If you enjoyed Sean's Tiny Desk Concert, you have to go watch his YT video "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" cover of the great Richard Thompson song... amazing combination of acoustic played through small tube amp, and Sean's voce baritono profundo.
that's what brought me here
Yup. Just heard it a week ago.. listened to it a hundred times, now learning it. It’s fun! Open E and not as tough as the original. (Not East either)
As noted below, watching his "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" cover is what brought me here. I'd never come across him before, but wow! what a presence!
Just discovered Sean, watched The Accountant and heard his amazing song To Leave Something Behind, just blown away by the lyrics so relevant to today's world. I am looking forward to hear all Sean's music.
I enjoyed that movie immensely, with Rowe’s wonderful song topping it off. Fantastic story line and powerful performances by all, actors and singer equally, imho.
Check out his set at Daryl's House if you haven't already. It's a gem.
When your find someone who knows how to write a song and tell a story, well, it's just gives you life.
I saw Rowe perform opening for Ben Sollee. I was there to see Sollee in reality -- I was completely blown away by Rowe's performance. He was possessed. It was an amazing performance -- in a small venue I was extremely pleased to be able to walk up while he was unhooking, give him my thanks, and shake his hand.
The best npr concert I ever watched. Seen it a few years ago , still come back to it now and again. Thanks for really putting your soul into it Sean..
Loved this guy in The Hangover.
Beautiful, moving performance of a remarkable song. ❤
Sean you are so talented. A treasure for us all.
Passionate singing and very expressive guitar playing. Mr.Rowe seems confident with himself and although i only spent a few moments with him, i feel like I'd like to hang out with him for a little bit. He was by himself in the woods for 30 days..i'd like to hear what secrets he discovered about himself in the solitude and survival effort. I always tell myself i'd like that kind of quiet, but life always seems so busy. Vicarious participation sounds pathetic but poets prove that untrue.
"poets prove that untrue"
not even 5 seconds in. a musician at heart this guy guy is great
One of my favorite artists, period.
Good Christ this guy is amazing.
Absolutely beautiful
I hit thumbs up and favorite before I even listened... Come on now, how did I miss him on the radio?
Heard this guy for the first time this morning, pure class
Never heard of him until I seen him at the Pittsburgh Arts Festival last year and he slayed it. Take a listen to his cover of Lucinda Williams' Soldiers Song
this is magic!! great song!! you deserve more recognition.. great songwriting!! really enjoyed it! hats off
The guitar he plays on Bluegrass Baby, with that paisley-shaped soundhole and S-shaped bridge, is indeed a Tacoma. The Takamine in the first and third song is a cedar-topped, sapele-bodied ETN10CTBS, recently discontinued. The Tacoma, of course, hasn't been made for years.
Wow, what a beautiful performance with moving lyrics.
He's hypnotic to watch, the real deal
I feel like he plays just as passionately by himself with no one around. Like hes not putting a performance on or anything. He just kinda gets lost in his own world.
Amazing soulful voice
this fellow is GOLD
Excellent.
Such a cool voice.
Heard an interview with Keith Richards...he said he likes to hear the roots of a musician...I think I hear the roots of Van Morrison, his easy, spiritual expression of the life journey. Authentic.
I hear Richie Havens too. Def Van Morrison though!
Keith should know he was there when they all were born
4:40 "I'll switch guitars real quick" Translation, "Wanna see the most beautiful instrument you'll ever hear?"
Unique voice.
This is so beaurifull.
"I was magic like a child... " that's my line.
awesome....love the survival story too.
I´ve just seen The Accountant and checked his song in the soundtrack😊
He could be the brother of Ebbot Lundberg of Soundtrack of Our Lives! Great stuff!
hey, I'm one of those 'rusted old folks' who will NOT belong in the city, Sean. But with that voice and those songs, I forgive you. =]
Bravo😊
Wauawww ! Why haven´t I heard of him before ?
Love Garden!
amazing.....
only just come across sean what have i been missing oh shi? by the way fantastic
This guy is awesome :D
Jeremiah Johnson was a good movie. He wasn't so much about him against the wild, but just surviving and being a mountain man.
Nice stuff I like it
@Josiahjjr It's a Tacoma, I believe... Cool guitars.
Great.
Soul.
13:04 best song
WOW
How the hell does he switch between his singing and talking voice.... They sound so different.
the voice is an instrument. May or not be same as speaking voice. Consider Peter Gabriel or Bowie.
#1000 Woot!
Very good, but what's with the weird close-ups ?
Never another like him
Just gorgeous.
Anyone have anytime what his 2nd guitar is?
I TOTALLY didn't expect that speaking voice to come out of his mouth....duuuude.
testo jest bogiem
Faith in indoor living? Nah man, now I want to go camping and hiking again.
Takamine...
Exactlly
His fingers look like little hammers but he is a decent guitar player... :)
The Takamine sounds incredible... Wow...
Third fiddle Takamine guitars really are great. And the price is readonable compared to other brands. Top notch quality imo
11 People wouldn´t even survive one night in their own backyard
The toe thumbs
Well... Pretty sure the neighbor gotta "Surprise" , when we I listened to the last song.
I'm so glad he eventually ditched the bandana
If Randy Newman played folk guitar.
i didnt know zach galifinakis was so talented
i didn't know you could spell zack gaffanickolous
Galafianakiz.
At least that's how it really sounds, fuck if that's the correct spelling, I dunno
AS GOOD AS WAYLON ANY DAY.....NOTHING NEGATIVE TO WAYLON.
Two completely different voices and type of music man. Therefore, I disagree but just my dumb ass opinion
Sylvester Stallone's musical twin?
Love this
