- I removed every Underwater level from Super Mario 3D World! Some of these levels felt entirely new with this change. I'm gonna try and upload small modding videos like this one more regularly now since they're much easier to edit and I think a lot of people really enjoy them. Not gonna lie, I don’t hate the water levels in recent games, they aren’t great but they aren’t terrible either, and the controls are decent enough. That’s probably just due to the aesthetic though.

the aesthetic certainly doesn't hurt, but mario water levels have always had great aesthetics. i think it's because 3D allows for more movement options in water, which makes it less of a pain in the ass. not having to pump fake the same blooper three separate times every time you play a water level does wonders for enjoyability lmao. like you said, i still don't find water levels fun, but they're not something to dread now

3D world has good underwater levels tho. Pipeline Lagoon and Deepwater Dungeon are fun af and Rammerhead Reef is creative w a challenge

On a more serious note, this was quite interesting to watch, it's surprising how much stuff you can do in these levels (and how fun it is) when the water is gone!

Personally, my favorite part was when Mayro said "oh there was x water here, now it's all gone"
quag will not be pleased to see that you completely removed his home from the game
I have a sneaking suspicion that the plessie water isn't normal water... it looks more opaque, and you're never able to swim in it, so you can't test that. I believe that the first section is normal water, due to its transparency and swimmability. it is my theory that the unremovable plessie water sections are closer to the sand plessie level in the bonus world rather than actual water.
This is cool and all, but can we talk about how broken Rosalina's wall jump spins are?!
