I like that PFF is at least attempting to grade on their own scale. I think the issue is people who treat a PFF grade as law, and the people who completely dismiss them.
Being a big football fan and losing my eyesight in 2017 was very difficult but these videos you’ve made have helped me expand my thought process on football and Seymour than I did ever before
This was an awesome video and glad you took the time to make it! I agree on a lot of the points, but the thing that frustrates me the most with PFF is something you mentioned in the beginning of the video, in that they have so much other data out there that they don't share w/their customers who buy subscriptions. They cite these things in their social media posts to convince people to buy, but then when you buy you can't even access like 50% of the data they reference in their podcasts and other media (including all these charts posted by their employees) because it's only available to NFL teams. But ultimately I agree with your point that it's a step in the right direction in that its BETTER than traditional stats, but PFF grades are far from perfect. I was also shocked to hear that they don't grade non-targeted plays for receivers and corners. I genuinely thought they did this whole time, so that strongly degrades their credibility. Anyone who watches the all-22 for these games is well aware that WRs are often burning corners without being targeted and vice versa.
Every football fan/nerd should see this video. Excellent information. In general I like PFF but one of the most concerning weaknesses overall is that they don’t account for level of competition. Andrew Van Ginkel had a damn 91.1 grade in 2023. my guess is a lot of that probably came against the turnstile offensive lines of the New York Jets and New England Patriots. If I didn’t know any better I would think AVG is Micah Parsons based off that one number.
People that cite box score stats or screenshots in arguments for why players are good or bad drive me up a wall lol. Like bro, there’s a whole new level of fan experience you can unlock by diving into tape and advanced metrics.
Last night they listed on the screen about 12 different positions he’s played this year. Of course, a lot of that is Flores’ defense, but he’s absolutely suited for it.
So the future of the nfl stars are gonna be similar to Kevin Hart and others with supreme integrity? I listened to pff guys explain the grades, and it definitely doesn't sound like a bunch of hot air.
They didn’t know how to grade Brock Purdy because they didn’t know if was really him or the system so they gave him an average grade for the first 8 week
What do you mean don’t tell you PFF grades suck and then tell you how many tackles a linebacker had tackles are recordable stats they’re verifiable they’re not opinionated when a guy tackled somebody 10 people watching all know that that guy tackled him all 10 people aren’t gonna have a different opinion on whether or not he tackled him that’s what is called a real stat it’s tangible
That’s actually not true, different stat recording companies (the NFL, ESPN, etc.) will actually have different tackle numbers for players because certain tackles aren’t as obvious as others, such as assists and jumping on piles late. No single stat is perfect
@@ChrisJackson-ey2fz yes, the criteria is built on dudes "analyzing" what they consider a good or bad play would be on a point scale .... no ones scale is the same. You might think a 10 yard pass into a tight window is a 2 because it was a lazer and someone else might say that even though it was a lazer it was a bad pass and should have been intercepted and give it a -2
Those bums work with the NFL though. They have former NFL players on their staff and they send coaches to the league too, like Bobby Slowik and Zac Robinson
They are real accurate when they confirm what I want to believe

This might be one of the best football videos ever released on this platform

Just noticed a mistake at 4:18 . Ignore "Run Blocking" and "Pass Blocking" in the defense column
This is a great nuanced look. Earned a sub.

This is such a good video. I love to see someone break down the nuances of PFF grades.
Your thoughts and breakdown of their grading addressed several issues I had with PFF grading.
Great video

Great video walking through each grades with clips, nice work!
Great video!
Great video
Any amateur who cites PFF grades should be required by law to prove they’ve watched this video. Mandatory viewing
Great video.
great analysis. sub'd
Fantastic sir. Ty!

Please make a video on the human Swiss Army knife Josh metellus please 🙏

Great video I also think for coverage they don’t account for difficulty of assignment and they don’t know coverages on a given play
I'd love to see how High PFF grades for college football players correlates to success in the NFL
pff should start to measure seperation for dbs and wrs every route
Witting Station

This is a much needed video. PFF has a really big bias against Tredavious White for some reason
They didn’t know how to grade Brock Purdy because they didn’t know if was really him or the system so they gave him an average grade for the first 8 week
They should’ve known after the first couple weeks, considering his talent as a rookie
Pff is awful for dtackles and iol

The grades are ridiculous..... it's based on a bunch of bums opinions 😂
He literally told you in the first 10 minutes of the video what it’s based on and you still came out with “its based on bums opinions” lol

Exactly they are made up stats lol and completely opinionated
