after the great classical composers were gone, the most beautiful melodies i ever heard coming out of a keyboard instruments were at the hands of young european musicians in the prog rock genre, who at a very young age were interested in learning the intricasies of music theory and presented us with such magical beauty; kudos to emerson, wakeman and all the others who would be very missed, for their age is like the age of giants, now gone from the earth
Almost eleven years ago I had heard this medley that you created, when I was a teenager I was inspired by the 3:46 minute part of doing a symphonic creation of only eight bars, in this year, I remembered that mini arrangement that I decided to continue, if it weren't For you and for this video, I wouldn't be creating that composition. Thank you!
Symphony X - The Accolade Children of Bodom - Lake Bodom Angra - Carry On (?) Dream Theater - Take The Time Dream Theater - Dance of Eternity Dream Theater - Octavarium Dream Theater - Hell's Kitchen (?) Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind Correct me.
The beginning sounded similar to U.K. or The Flower Kings. Loved it. At 2:48 awesome Take The Time by Dream Theater! Following that is The Dance of Eternity, Octavarium, and Hell's Kitchen. Then there's Liquid Tension Experiment's Universal Mind! Awesome Job!!
You all should have a listen to Alex Argentos ego album. Im a guitarist but what he does on the keys is so relatable to a guitarists phrasing that i just sit and transcribe his stuff. Its more progressive rock/fusion , so he plays those jazzy lines that are just begging to be learned. Listen to synchoronal steps solo.
@piejo Yeah, it's all correct, except if you wanna get really particular, LTE didn't write the ending of "Universal Mind," so add "Hoagy Carmichael - Heart and Soul" and "Julius Fucik - Entrance of the Gladiators" and you've got it : )
@tylkodobre On keyboards, you should keep you fingers curved because it will be more comfortable to reach a flat or sharp & you fingers wont get tired or cramped during a long piece.Even if curving your fingers is wrong (i dont know who told you that) it is best to play in a position that makes you most comfortable so you can play comfortably.PLaying keyboards isnt supposed to be a straneous or stressfull activity :(
@tylkodobre what the,.?? he's curving his fingers as he's supposed to. It's because he's playing rock so he's using wrists so to reach flats and sharps it's easier to straighten fingers
dude...what the hell was that?! I love u man!! it's a shame u dont live in sweden! I got a dream theater-inspired progressiv rock band and we're in desperate need of a new keyboardist!
Love your arrangement! Very much Neo Progressive. Do you have any of this material for sale? Perhaps synth lessons? Just had to ask! Keep the Prog alive!
Damn, you should've stuck with "Take the Time" a little longer... the way they do it live, with the funky part taken out... it's one of the best climaxes in a DT song.
hi, I'm the guy who plays the song..thanks for all your comments... the song at the beginning is "The Accolade" , Symphony X
LIKE LISTENING TO TANGERINE DREAM AND ELP AT THE SAME TIME
