@@roberthill799 listen to his music. I’ve been listening for decades, and I love it, but 1) his music expresses nothing profound and 2) his adoration of Haydn never resulted in any change in his own music. You’ll stop listening even if you don’t stop hearing, because one Boccherini is much like another Boccherini, and gets old rather quickly. It has none of Haydn’s originality, which is immediately obvious when listening to Haydn for that same two hours. I have, on car trips, with the Paris and London symphonies of Haydn, and some Boccherini quintets and flute trios. Haydn makes you listen because you don’t know what’s happening next. All I can say is that if I hear something on the radio and I think "That's Boccherini", I am usually right. It is more than just charm, it is an individual voice. I think you have to listen more attentively to Boccherini to hear what he is doing and saying, and how his works are differentiated. Don't take him for granted. You will know some of the quotes from younger contemporaries. The violinist Jean Baptiste Cartier (1765-1841): "If the Lord God wanted to communicate with mankind, he would use a symphony by Haydn. I was desirous of hearing him in these quintets, with about a dozen of which I am acquainted, in order to see whether from the manner in which he executes them he could succeed in making one forget the poverty of the compositions. But well as they were given by him, the frequent childishness of the melodies, and the poverty of the harmonies (almost always three-voiced only) were no less unpleasing to me, than in all those I had heard before. One can hardly understand how a cultivated artist like Baillot, to whom our treasures in compositions of this kind are known, can bring himself to play those quintets still, whose worth consists only in the regard had to the period and circumstances under which they were written. But that they are here listened to with as much pleasure as a quintet of Mozart, is another proof that Parisians cannot distinguish the good from the bad, and are at least half a century behind in art." On the other hand, Anner Byslma, that great cellist, wholeheartedly championed Boccherini. I'll go with his judgement, I think. And of course nowadays Spohr is even more forgotten than Boccherini!

The string quintets recordings by La Magnifica Communità ara a milestone in Boccherini's discography. This is a treasure and I hope Brilliant Classics will keep recording the complete quintets.
Where my husband worked as a classical music announcer, every year someone sent a cake to the station in honor of Boccherini's birthday. And as thanks he played Boccherini almost exclusively during his shift. A pretty good playlist, no?
Like Eric Hodge I have listened to the "obvious" classics for fifty years and only blundered across Boccherini by accident. He's brilliant. Actually, as you browse among his works, you find a cleverness with texture (I'm not musically educated, so I'm not sure what terms to use) that's in some ways more satisfying than even Mozart or Haydn. He belongs with greats of Baroque music.

Greetings from London. The music is beautiful here too. I hope you are all right now that so much of Europe is locking down again. Glad you have Boccherini to help you through these difficult times.
I've noticed that galant music in particular is great for putting in the background while working or studying because of how simple and pleasant-sounding it is. Bach or Beethoven would be much more distracting.

So lovely - thank you! Boccherini is one of my favourites.
This music is magnificent.
Boccherini wrote the most radiant music for chamber ensembles in his time.
Together with Mozart and Haydn.
LOVELY! THE MUSIC AND I WERE BOTH FLOATING!
Gravity! It's not just a good idea. It's the law.
These are very graceful for music lovers. Thank you indeed!
VERY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!
Love these quintets. I bought these exacts CD many years ago, 16 or 20 years ago, cannot even remember when.

Beautiful songs are for lovely people!
Quite the discovery - late in my life - marvelous recording and performance
Like Eric Hodge I have listened to the "obvious" classics for fifty years and only blundered across Boccherini by accident. He's brilliant. Actually, as you browse among his works, you find a cleverness with texture (I'm not musically educated, so I'm not sure what terms to use) that's in some ways more satisfying than even Mozart or Haydn. He belongs with greats of Baroque music.
mucho texto

Just hearing the first few notes put me in bliss. 🙏🏼
basic music for new classical forms and expressions , without Boccherini no one could expect music of late XIX cent. and modern music art today
Mrs. Boccherini smiling listening to her husband play the violin.
I never get tired of hearing Boccherini (except maybe the minuet lol. You know which one I'm talking about haha).

Finally I can host my wig party without worrying about the musical background!
Hollow relaxation! Thank you!
Very beautiful music! Greetings from Belgrade.
Greetings from London. The music is beautiful here too. I hope you are all right now that so much of Europe is locking down again. Glad you have Boccherini to help you through these difficult times.
Very beautiful music, excellent! Thank you so much for sharing this :)
I've noticed that galant music in particular is great for putting in the background while working or studying because of how simple and pleasant-sounding it is. Bach or Beethoven would be much more distracting.
thank you!!!very beautiful
Surprised by this one, excellent compositions.. reminds me of Vivaldi...
Yeah, I really like Vivaldi too.

Once again, I don't mind ads. It gives a smidgeon of money to these people who put up these things. Just a token of appreciation to them.

What exactly is the instrument combination? One cello, one viola and three violins, perhaps?
At least opus 11 is for 2 violins, viola and 2 cellos
Luigi il Grande

What happened to the track list? Only the first two tracks are listed!

Ca. 3:35 mozart?
Chào buổi sáng an lành và uống cà phê
😍😍😍😍
Boccherini is erg onderschat
