    I tend to come across someone with multiple parents. Not duplicate parents, multiple.
    I had 1 in which I had to have the admins correct the information. My mom’s older half brother is still living (he will be 93 in March), but, in 2021, while updating his late wife’s information (she had passed away in March, just before his birthday, of that year), as soon as I updated her, I refreshed and saw that someone had updated him as deceased. Mind you, the day I was doing this, my mom was actually speaking to him via video. Trying to correct what that person did, the pop up said that the admin would have to review and fix it. It’s been fixed.

      That’s great you were able to fix it. Things get crazy right after someone passes because they might be in multiple trees so there are a bunch of duplicates. Way to go!

    We need to get more people to watch your videos. I’ve got an uncle that messes up family relationships all the time

    This week I came across "U U" for the indexing info on parent names on a death record. I didn't attach those records because there is literally no information. Now it tells me that that record has unfinished attachments. I'm guessing that's how the ? guy happened. Someone probably didn't want to leave unfinished attachments.

      Good to know! I’ve never encountered that. Thanks for adding this.

    Hi Aimee. My great-great grand mother is paired with the wrong husband. I know who the right husband is and they are in Family Search. How do I detach the wrong husband and add the correct one? Thanks

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Go into the couple fact where they are together and children if any listed under them and go to the marriage and you can change it there. You’ll have to fix any children though too.

      OK. I now have the right father linked with my great great grandma and I have linked the children to them. The old "husband" is still there though. Is there a way to delete him? Thanks!@@AncestryAimee

    An issue I’m currently having is that I have my great grandmothers information correct, but I accidentally typed a name that I saw while looking at the website (It had the same information but there was a typo I guess) and a different family is connected to hers, and it is not the correct family.

      You can separate them. Just have to do it step by step.

    I just cleaned up one family branch. Brothers listed as father and son in the original family history, but the ages didn't make sense, confirmed sources, got it straightened out. Another this week, was a Thomas but all the sources were for a John. There was no explanation for the name change, and I haven't been able to find any sources for Thomas. I moved the sources to John, and still kept Thomas as a separate person for now....but it doesn't seem likely at this point that he is part of the family...the mother would have been just over 50, but still a slim chance.
    One last person, I did a merge, but something keeps bugging me at the back of my mind. I'm really having doubts because of different spellings of the surname. Just a lot of holes, can't find other siblings, late 1600's Boston, possibly 1st wife died & he remarried, it's not clear which wife was the mother.

      Keep researching and being diligent in determining if a person really should be merged or not! Way to go!

    I have a problem with FamilySearch they let my sister-in-law make a tree for my husband and put the wrong father in there so I make me account on there trying to change it even show them proof of the DNA but her tree is still up and mine I cannot get back into so there's a lot of wrong information on there she was only supposed to look my mother-in-law's maiden name instead she makes a tree on there and she pays to have 10 my my ancestry for him I've asked them to but they wouldn't show this month we did a DNA for my husband on my ancestry to prove that they have the wrong tree then I hope they make her take her but I really think these are just the money thing and on FamilySearch I tried to ask for help but never got no response so thank you for your videos you make

      You’re welcome Pearl. They don’t make money. It’s free so that’s not it. It can be hard to fix things sometime though. Maybe visit a FamilySearch library near you and maybe they can help you.

    How I added my father and my grandfather but when I first login it ask me to add my grandfather. He appears on my tree but how do I tell it he's my grandfather?

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a connection to your father, and then a connection from him to your paternal grandfather. He should be listed as the parent of your father.

    • @timhill3260
      @timhill3260 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aimee Cross - Genealogy Hints for father it says father then when I scroll up it says father by my grandfather as well. When I first login it says to add my grandfather. But maybe it means on my mom's side?

      @AncestryAimee  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tim Hill without seeing what you are talking about, I'm not sure. I'm sorry! I recommend you connect with a local genealogy society or Church of Jesus Christ FamilySearch library near you. They will gladly walk through things with you. Good luck!

    After your previous suggestion below, I now have the right husband linked with my great great grandma and I have linked the children to them. The old "husband" is still there though. Is there a way to remove him from my family tree? Thanks!

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Remove their relationship. Click where the marriage is (or would be)

    • @1yerdy
      @1yerdy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AncestryAimee The only choice I have when I go to where their relationship is, is "+ Add Relationship". Do I not have a choice to get rid of him because I was not the person who made the errant link in the first place? Thanks.

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s hard for me to say without looking at it. I would reach out to FamilySearch’s help desk. They are good about assisting you through the process and they can look at it while talking to you.

    • @1yerdy
      @1yerdy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AncestryAimee I was able to figure it out. I actually "married" them, then I was able to remove him. Then, because she was a duplicate, I just disconnected the children from the duplicate and now all is good.

    What do I do if somebody changed my uncles to deceased when they are still living? I don’t know how to make them living again.
