I remember when I first started handling service dogs, I was worried about making a mistake in public as a team. But like I mentioned in the vlog, mistakes are a natural part of life even for highly trained service dogs. Of course, I'm not making excuses for unacceptable behavior as working dogs must adhere to certain expectations, just not absolute perfection. So to any new handlers out there: Don't worry, y'all got this! Har and I grow as a team every day, and y'all will too. ❤
Chronically Jaquie hi I have a border collie and he loves my sheep anyway I love watching your videos I think that it is really important that you share information about working dogs and chronic illnesses and I love hippo
My service pup was sitting next to me while I was watching this video, and every time you said 'touch' She kept bumping my hand and then looking at me expecting her treat! Haha :P
Knowing Harlow has hiccups in her behavior sometimes gives me a ton of hope with my dog who I am working with. Also, Judd's face was priceless when you talked about your subluxation, lol!
I'm laughing because I did not understand the "hiccups" thing... I was like "when was she hiccupping??" Lol, autism moment! But yes, ALL dogs have mishaps. Totally okay.
My favorite Harlowe mistake is still the Ranch dressing because it was just funny! I'm always happy to watch these videos and getting to learn that if you have a chronic disability, hidden or not, there's good and there is bad. It's nice to find the tiny kernel of good on the bad days. That's a lesson I'm still struggling to learn, though I have a very obvious disability, and I'm 44.
I work at a library, and I was pushing a cart and putting books on the shelf. The carts are metal and sometimes make loud noises (they hit a little bump, a book falls over, etc). Anyways, a handler and his service dog were near me and, out of the corner of my eye, I could see the dog get scared a couple of times (he jumped a little). I felt so bad but I had to do my job. But the dog was so well behaved and stayed in his down stay trusting his owner and that the big scary cart wouldn't roll over him. Dogs are not robots and that is okay.
Y'all are TOO stinking cute! I find myself with a goofy smile at the end of every one of your videos and I thank you for that. I have 3 kids and my 2 boys are on the autism spectrum and your videos give me hope for their future happiness and being understood loved and valued for the amazing people they are. You've also helped me understand better their sensory processing issues. Thank you!
This makes me SO happy! I am so glad I can give you some hope and a little insight into SPD (it is very hard to explain). I was "that weird kid" and even though I was outgoing, I could never fit in. Things got better as I got older but never really made sense until I was finally diagnosed and OT has helped a lot!
Lol that intro always makes me feel like this is like a sitcom or something, and your mom was originally a guest star but now she's a permanent cast member XD
I work in a deli, and a hearing impaired woman came in with her service dog, and the dog had his nose stuck in our case of prepackaged meat, lol. The woman was on her phone, not paying attention..I'm trying to get her attention before the dog decides to make his dinner out of the meat in the case. Quite comical, lol. And thank you for the life lesson in today's blog, because if the surgery incident would have happened to me, it would not have been a good day for them, lol. So I will definitely try harder to be more patient when that type of issues happens in the future :-)
New quote by jaquie! "I don't want to waste my energy being so angry over something that honestly wasn't the worst possible thing that could have happened"
ComplicatedSalad I have subluxed my left knee 3 times the doc said next time I will have to have surgery. I am in a brace for six months and I have to do six weeks of thearpy
Have you considered getting the K9 911 phone? It's a button basically that she can hit and will dial 911 and give them a prerecorded message (like, I'm at this address with a medical emergency please send help). It would be very useful for when you're home alone and something happens.
Rin F yes but it's really pricy and doesn't come with something for me to wear and press myself. I'm looking at systems that have phone boxes with big buttons that Har can still press (put it on the floor) AND I get a necklace or something to wear. They have them, I know teams that use them, just doing more research. :)
What about one that sends an email? You even program one yourself for a couple bucks using a raspberry pi. Like a button that sends an email to Judd or your family so they can call for you.
I LOVE watching these videos!! I usually don't like watching vloggers because they get soooo repetitive but watching your videos are awesome!!! I love Harlow, too! Sooooooo cute omg!! I want a dog even more now!!! Even though I don't have any chronic illnesses or disabilities these videos always give me hope to keep going :)
I love Judd's expression when he said "Thanks for joining us on our adventure." You guys are AWESOME for doing this vlog. God bless you and your family. Harlow is such a WONDERFULLY ADORABLE DOG!
I think it's really great that you have accepted the tube incident and aren't angry about it - it's inspiring and I hope to be more accepting like you. 💛
So interesting about your dream & your surgery getting postponed! Here's another: My best friend was supposed to have breast surgery Tues. Monday night when she told me her surgery time, I just had a flash & said "well your surgery might not be at that time, depending on what happens with the surgery , before you". Well, she went in, got prepped, & then there ended up being an emergency with the surgery before hers and it took longer, so hers had to be rescheduled. Weird that it happened on the same day as yours!. Love your pretty leggings!
You`re gonna blow up on TH-cam soon and I think it would be a great idea if you could watch your vlogs from earlier and see how much subs you had back then!(put it in the description)
Hi Jaquie, something that I think would be really useful to those of us who use captions to watch your videos that I thought I'd mention. You often put disclaimers or extra information in writing on the screen in your videos, and you often put them at the bottom. This means that I either don't see them or a have to go into settings, turn off captioning, read it and then put them back on. It would be super handy if you could put the writing at the top or middle of the screen so those of us who need CC can read them too :) Thanks! ❤
I don't know if it is my autism or my personality (probably the latter) but I tried it and can't bring myself to do it, I do not like how it looks and it really messes with me. I know it is an issue because my father and friend are HOH, but I am really close to being able to afford professional captioning on all my videos. Professional captions move subtitles so the lettering is not covered. I am almost there with Patreon!
As someone who is a robotic programmer by profession, I can tell you that even robots make mistakes. Just compared to dogs, robots poop less, and are not as cute and cuddly.
Love this video ! I've been training my Service Dog, Diva with a light switch. I bought these LED Light Switches that are battery operated. Since Diva is a basenji and not as tall as Harlow I trained her to turn the light on with her paw. She is super in doing this, I stick the light switches low on the wall and when she enters the room ahead of me she will hit the switch with her paw and turn the light on enough for me to enter and feel safe.I have PTSD,and a TBI and don't like going into rooms when it is dark. Diva is my life-line and people don't really realize just how important Service Dogs are to there handlers.Stay strong and know that I do understand.
Just wanted to share this ;) Yesterday I got a shot, and I normally get anxious before shots, just because my brain and all xD. But I said to myself that you always get needles and I shouldn't be scared. So I was joking around the entire time with the nurse. And by the time I got the shot I didn't realize. Thanks :). Also Harlows incident is hilarious. The way she looked at you 😂 haha.
Glad su Mama is there! She is a good Mama just as we would expect. I'm so glad you have such great people around you that love and support you! Peace to you.
I've been dealing with a lot lately and your positivity has been helping me out so much! Your vlogs mean everything to me... you have no idea how much. I'm even crying just thinking about it. You are inspiring and amazing. A great example to follow, thank you.
Your intro message is why I love you. You have such a sensible head on your shoulders. I love your positive outlook on your health, and people in general. Thanks for showing how to be gracious in spite of the many challenges of chronic illness. 💕 btw...I could watch your puppy training all day long! It's impressive and sweet Harlow is so smart. 🤗
thank you so much for making this video! it's my service dog's first school year with me and i'm quite anxious about it, but your video has helped me realize that yes, dogs will be dogs, and they will make mistakes. thank you, jaquie!
Oh my gosh, I'm laughing. When you were training Harlowe on the button, my service dog heard it, jumped up and looked at me, saw that I wasn't the source of the clicking (and, more importantly, the treats that he knows go with clicks), and went running into the other room to try to find who was doing it. Then he came running back to me and sat down with an expectant look, like "okay, I'm ready to learn!"
I totally agree Jaquie I know I make mistakes and my service dog does to. Thank you for doing this vlog. I am soo happy for you that Mama's is living with you. I just adore her.Hugs from Kentucky
Jacquie you are a class act!! It wasn't supposed to happen for a reason. I always believe that. Harlow is a exceptional service dog. Really she is. Take care pretty one !!
There was a service dog on the boardwalk the other night. The dog was very tiny. The SD wasn't calm and wasn't staying close to the handler. It was going up to people and jumping on them, it was barking. I'm sure it was a service dog because it had a vest saying service dog.
Unfortunately not every dog with a vest is a service dog, but sometimes SDs can have off days or may be in training. Generally if the handler is making active attempts to train the dog, they are working on it.
Sydney W. Omg that reminds me of the other day at my college I saw a girl with a service dog, but he was literally dragging her around and she had the leash wrapped multiple times around her hand. He had a vest too but it made me wonder
Oh Har was excited because the new home health nurse was going to be awesome. So sweet and glad it was an easy mistake. I love the light button to train her. Excellent choice Judd.
Really weird question have you ever been filming and had to turn the camera off because Har nudged you alerting you to one of your chronic illness episodes?
Your mother is adorable. He makes me laugh.! You are so lucky to have such a great support system. Much love for you, judd, and Hippo! Keep moving forward. I cant wait to get my shirt
I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but Harlow's disobeying story made me laugh. She sounds like my dog (not a service dog) who will sometimes disobey in that way where you just KNOW that she knows exactly what you want, but she's saying, "nope, I don't want to" haha.
You should get a that was easy button from staples that would be another great button to practice with it's more of a harder push so it'll give her practice for the buttons that need more force cause I know they can sometimes stick and what not. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your mom and her spunk and accent on the videos
Oh Harlow❤️ My love for service dogs grows even stronger with you! She's so funny for leaving your mothers items around the house😂& Eventually y'all should make a collage of all the faces Judd does 😂 At least you have goof balls in your life to make you laugh :)❤️ thats so important! -Love Mary S.❤️✌🏻🌻
Do you have any advice or know of channels/websites that have good advice on training dogs? I adopted a 3 year old mutt a year ago, and she is super intelligent, but very stubborn. When people come over I can't keep her from barking and jumping and it's driving me insane. Treats don't work when she's that excited, so I'm kinda stuck with her training. I know Harlow was a puppy when you got her, but I thought I'd ask anyway. :)
My service dog and I have only been a team for about a week or so and I'm so scared something will happen while we are out in public lol. She is still in a "puppy" stage so training her to do certain things is going somewhat smoothly at home but I took her to the park the other day, and this girl kept throwing sand at her and screaming at her which got her totally out of work mode and it was difficult to get her back in work mode so we had to leave.
I think they definitely should have been more on top of it with your surgery. But I also think, maybe, for some reason, you weren't meant to get it that day? sometimes I feel like the universe looks out for us by changing our plans somehow.
Lol my dog does the same she’ll steal clothes but she won’t destroy them just carries them around and hides them in different places or takes a nap with it
I'm moving into my new home with my dog(not a service dog, and exhibits cat like behavior), and there will be wet paint on the downstairs and I was wondering if there is any tips you guys have for keeping him away from the paint, he isn't allowed upstairs, and our backyard isn't fenced in. Edit: We are trying to keep him in the basement closed off and he's started doing better but he still gets lonely so someone has to play with him for 10 minutes every hour, but thanks for suggestions he is happily in a bush staring at a rabbit hole right now(on a leash).
is there any section of the downstairs that doesnt have paint? if so, you could get a baby gate or a gate of some sort to section off that 1 area so your dog cant go anywhere else in the downstairs
Actually not every dog has the right temperament for service work :) Some dogs do not enjoy it, or do not have the drive, so it is up to the handler to determine if they are fit for working
Hey I have a question can you give me advice for training my dog No I'm not training my her to be a service dog but I'm trying to train my dog tricks and she knows sit and lay down but anything else I tried teaching her how to spin and shake but she knows how to spin but she won't listen to me she just looks at me and walks away... any advice because she's a 1 year old border collie and some tiny dog mic but any advice also I love your channel and I love Harlow she's adorable well all dogs are adorable but she's adorable so anyways any advice would be great thanks in advance
I think Harlow was confused about her role in light of the new living arrangements...with your Mom staying at your house. I agree ...don't waste energy on the medical slip up...
My service dog sleeps on my bed cause I don't have a boyfreind or husband I only have me in a house and my dad and mom so my service dog and other dog sleep on my bed and sometimes even play a little if I let them cause idc as long as I sleep
I believe you are right Jaquie......I was one of the ones that was irritated that you didnt get your GJ button....but like you said....considering the dream you had....for some reason it was not meant to happen and not in God's will...so nice that you have your Mom there :)
I remember when I first started handling service dogs, I was worried about making a mistake in public as a team. But like I mentioned in the vlog, mistakes are a natural part of life even for highly trained service dogs. Chronically Jaquie hi I have a border collie and he loves my sheep anyway I love watching your videos I think that it is really important that you share information about working dogs and chronic illnesses and I love hippo
Lily Hiller inappropriate or appropriate
Angiee Hernandezz opps I mint to say important not inappropriate
Cajsa Mörk good luck on training your service dog
You know Harlow is not a robot because she brought you ranch that one time :D
Jordan Alyse SO TRUE 😅😅😅
Jordan Alyse Ranch mistake of 2017! 😄
True but so cute
Lol true 😂
Dont you want ranch with you as you watch T.V.?
Dogs aren't perfect, they are just the best.
Isabella C totally agree!
Isabella C hi, remember me, I'm the one that keeps finding you on youtube
My service pup was sitting next to me while I was watching this video, and every time you said 'touch' She kept bumping my hand and then looking at me expecting her treat! Haha :P
Lol you should see Harlow when I edit my videos and there is a training session in it! I have started using headphones for this reason :P
Haha they're the best :) Thanks for responding to my comment! I love your videos! And you are truly an inspiration!

Mistakes are blessings as they are the basis for learning

Thanks, you too!
I don't think that people understand, when you have chronic illnesses you have to pick your battles with what things get you worked up.
This is SO true!
Have you considered getting the K9 911 phone? It's a button basically that she can hit and will dial 911 and give them a prerecorded message (like, I'm at this address with a medical emergency please send help). It would be very useful for when you're home alone and something happens.

Corinne Sauer but they don't always see the email is the problem

Hi Jaquie, something that I think would be really useful to those of us who use captions to watch your videos that I thought I'd mention. Yesterday I got a shot, and I normally get anxious before shots, just because my brain and all xD.
But I said to myself that you always get needles and I shouldn't be scared. So I was joking around the entire time with the nurse. And by the time I got the shot I didn't realize. Thanks :).
Also Harlows incident is hilarious. The way she looked at you 😂 haha.
Yay, what an awesome victory! I hope you celebrated :) I still hate needles but I have become braver about it.
VICTORY!!! Thanks so much for replying, when i went on my computer and saw the notifaction it made my day ;D
I love your simple outfits! Just those cute leggings with a matching V-neck tee! :) Looks comfy and cute.
Thank you! I love them too, so comfy and perfect for my stomach when it is hurting.
i love jaquie's attitude so much. being zen about annoying things saves so much energy
Harlow is just the cutest ever
chronically Jaquie your videos are awesome i been here for 20k i hope you keep doing things like that it make me happy
Glad su Mama is there! She is a good Mama just as we would expect. I'm so glad you have such great people around you that love and support you! Peace to you.
So glad you're mom is moving in temporarily. Great training with Harlow!

I am so humbled to know my story has been able to help you!
Harlow ditching you was so funny you got kiss rejected 😂 you and Judd are so cute together ❤️
Harlow is awesome! Great job Hippo. Glad that your mom is staying with you. That will be a huge help for you. Sending prayers!
thank you so much for making this video! it's my service dog's first school year with me and i'm quite anxious about it, but your video has helped me realize that yes, dogs will be dogs, and they will make mistakes. thank you, jaquie!
You are so lucky to have such a great loving mom Jacquie you are very blessed...
My dog heard the commands and the clicks and was so confused
Oh my gosh, I'm laughing. When you were training Harlowe on the button, my service dog heard it, jumped up and looked at me, saw that I wasn't the source of the clicking (and, more importantly, the treats that he knows go with clicks), and went running into the other room to try to find who was doing it. Then he came running back to me and sat down with an expectant look, like "okay, I'm ready to learn!"
Glad your mom is staying with you guys for a while. I'm sure she will be lots of help and plus she's so sweet. I love seeing her in the vlog.😊❤

Everything happens for a reason! You must not have been meant to have the feeding tube changed. 💜
I admire your attitude of gratitude!!
I love ALL of the dog stories, lol! (That one nurse must really be Harlow's fave, haha! :)
Your so amazing! I love waking up and watching you! Thank you!! ❤️
Yes in this vlog I came to sit on the bed because she told me I was going to pass out :)
Karlee Buckwalter |-/. Sorry had to!
Your mother is adorable. He makes me laugh.! You are so lucky to have such a great support system. Much love for you, judd, and Hippo! Keep moving forward. I cant wait to get my shirt
I love your attitude! It helps me check my attitude over petty stuff. Thank you:)
It's nice to see Big smiles on your face
My dog does the same thing Harlow does! She carries clothing/shoes around.
I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but Harlow's disobeying story made me laugh. She sounds like my dog (not a service dog) who will sometimes disobey in that way where you just KNOW that she knows exactly what you want, but she's saying, "nope, I don't want to" haha.
Jaquie I agree because not even robots could be as awesome as Harlow!!!
Thank you for sharing your life with us.
IM SO GLAD FOR JUDDS KNEW WORKING HOURS HES SO FUNNY AND AN AMAZING COMPANION ON THE VLOGS. Wow im obnoxious. (That was all in caps)
She's so funny for leaving your mothers items around the house😂&
Eventually y'all should make a collage of all the faces Judd does 😂 At least you have goof balls in your life to make you laugh :)❤️ thats so important! -Love Mary S.❤️✌🏻🌻
Harlow is ALWAYS SO cute!🐶😍😘♥️
I think Judd said it best, the check list didn't get checked 😀😀
Love Judd's crab updates. lol
thank you for your videos. your positive attitude is very comforting. =)
you were just about to give harlow a kiss the she decided it was time to leave.hahaha
Right? How rude of her :P
Chronically Jaquie Silly puppy! I think she knows when you just need a laugh
I like how harlows hair on her ears looks like the 90's crinkle hair style
Thanks for sharing your life with us! I love you guys and I love watching your videos. I look forward the vlogs everyday!
Even robot makes mistakes. You are amazing! I like very watching your videos
Yay! made it again! 💜💜💜💙💙💙

I know Harlow was a puppy when you got her, but I thought I'd ask anyway. :)
I have a training tutorial playlist, I like the channel training positive, and I think dog classes and a personal trainer are also great ideas!
Thank you!!
I tried to get my Chihuahua to shake, and instead he rolls over. 😂😂😂😂
Dogs are the best thing in this world.
My dog, Chevy, is looking every time you click the clicker. 😮
I think they definitely should have been more on top of it with your surgery. But I also think, maybe, for some reason, you weren't meant to get it that day? sometimes I feel like the universe looks out for us by changing our plans somehow.
I agree!
I live an hour away from Tampa XD I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Lol my dog does the same she’ll steal clothes but she won’t destroy them just carries them around and hides them in different places or takes a nap with it
The golden retriever we have likes to pick up shoes/socks and place them at random places never chews on them :)
Goldens are silly at heart. Which i why i love the breed. I have one of my own shes a table surfer lol
Im glad you got lucky with tricare. I got tricare prime and they cover NOTHING! Its stressful
I have the equivalent of standard, it functions like a normal insurance plan. If you have the option, I would look into switching.
I'm moving into my new home with my dog(not a service dog, and exhibits cat like behavior), and there will be wet paint on the downstairs and I was wondering if there is any tips you guys have for keeping him away from the paint, he isn't allowed upstairs, and our backyard isn't fenced in.
Edit: We are trying to keep him in the basement closed off and he's started doing better but he still gets lonely so someone has to play with him for 10 minutes every hour, but thanks for suggestions he is happily in a bush staring at a rabbit hole right now(on a leash).
crate training?
Maybe paint one or two rooms at a time and close those rooms off from her/him ( that's what I did with my cats) lol
is there any section of the downstairs that doesnt have paint? if so, you could get a baby gate or a gate of some sort to section off that 1 area so your dog cant go anywhere else in the downstairs
Glad that the nurse is a dog person to and was ok with it. No living thing is perfect. We all make mistakes.
nice clicker work! Love it! would love to train with you!
Hehe, I chuckled at what Harlow did
Alicia Jy lol same, after the fact 😅 At the time I was mortified.
crabs climbing trees? what is life? lol
"I went for a kiss and she ditched me" Same😂
Love your mom! ❤️❤️
every dog should be a service dog
:)
Actually not every dog has the right temperament for service work :) Some dogs do not enjoy it, or do not have the drive, so it is up to the handler to determine if they are fit for working
hey jaquie! could you make a cooking video compilation of your favorite recipes and with you preparing them? they all look delicious!
That is not really something I am interested in but if I have a recipe, I post it in the description :)
I just love, love, love your Vlogs 😍 Best wishes from a german Spoonie ❤
Something like this happened to me at the airport
You're so pretty AHH and Harlow is so cute AHH and Judd... he's cool too AHH
Sad thing is I'm highly allergic to shrimp I'm so glad your mom is over for you guys family is amazing
Srry I'm so late, had to go check out the hyper loop test
Hey I have a question can you give me advice for training my dog No I'm not training my her to be a service dog but I'm trying to train my dog tricks and she knows sit and lay down but anything else I tried teaching her how to spin and shake but she knows how to spin but she won't listen to me she just looks at me and walks away... any advice because she's a 1 year old border collie and some tiny dog mic but any advice also I love your channel and I love Harlow she's adorable well all dogs are adorable but she's adorable so anyways any advice would be great thanks in advance
I have a training tutorial playlist :)
Haha "Harlow Bop It!"
I believe you are right Jaquie......I was one of the ones that was irritated that you didnt get your GJ button....but like you said....considering the dream you had....for some reason it was not meant to happen and not in God's will...so nice that you have your Mom there :)
Get Harlow a Bop It to train with xD
