Hosting a local meetup and helping teach beginners has been one of the best things for my practice. I highly recommend it.

Love the sets and that multi-pick case! Good luck at the competition Sandman.

One reason I love this hobby is I'm very O.C.D. and I love all the cases, boxes and packages to put all my "stuff" into. I get a sense that lockpickers fall into two categories' ...they are very organized, or they are completely chaotic.

I dont disagree. my life is me being unorganized, and trying to organize it constantly.

Enjoy the meet and get some of those suckers open. You carry some comprehensive stuff! I'm mostly just a "bring whatever I've thrown into my Moki case last second" guy for meets. Good discussion on using what you're most comfy with vs what's the best. Have a good one mate.

Thanks for watching. Its always funny to me, that I have favorite pick sets, that i dont use, and pick sets i hate, that I use everyday lol. I'll never understand it.

I ordered a set of picks because I lost my key to my disc lock on my storage locker.
I practiced before going. I ended up picking it in a minute....I felt like the lock picking lawyer. 😂😂

The belt ranking (used in other MAs as well) closely matches martial arts in that it is very easy to attain a yellow or orange belt and each additional belt becomes harder than the last. You only need a photo of an open in Yellow, but when getting to black you have to mentor others. I think they put a lot of thought into it, and have a good feeling that someone who put the pick system together had martial art experience.

Tumbl3r had previous martial arts experience, he’s attributed to coming up with the Karate Belt system. I told him he needed degrees (circa 2017) beyond black belt and make black attainable but 4th and beyond a master level and utilize ultra high security locks there instead of the lower ranks we see today. He added degrees but went with a point system instead.

    Excellent set up buddy😁👌
I definitely wouldn't say using a lishi i locksport was cheating in any way. Those things require a whole new set of skills to use.
    Skill i personally haven't acquired yet😆
    Cheers mate, great video 😁👍🐝

I agree I learn a lot about the binding order and depth and cuts on cutaway cylinders that I have.

Thank you! I was able to pick 5 out of the 10 locks in the limited time frame, but I lost in the end, but it was so much fun!! I will be back next year!!

I would like to know, what is a lock sport meet up and what do you do there?

Thats a good question and perhaps I'll make a video just on that! It is a group of lockpickers that get together at a bar, or a lounge or a restaurant, or at a park, or house, and they just sit for 3 hours and pick locks. sometimes they have competitions, sometimes they have giveaways, mostly they just sit, drink and be merry. ive been to maybe 50 of them over the past 15 years. they have one group in every major city throughout United States just about. No tools or experience required to show up. Just look for one. I find them on websites like meetupdotcom and facebook and reddit.

@@sandman_locksport that actually sounds hilarious, not in a mean way 👍🏻, I thought it was something like a full on rented stadium and a tournament type thing. But that’s pretty nice. Question: what is the stomping grounds or general area for locksport meetups?
