I think you did a really fantastic job on building your outdoor layout with the river and the stone you put down in the bridge you did a really really great job
Thanks. I ended up moving and never built a new layout. I got a job as a train conductor, so I traded the models for the real thing but it takes up a lot of my time. I still have all the trains, and maybe one day I’ll build a new railroad. Thanks
I used Quikrete brand all-purpose gravel that comes in 50 pound bags at Home Depot. I chose this because I figured it would be readily available any time I need to get more.
When I build my garden railroad I want it to be all RC so I can run live steam along side diesel traction, and all the other benefits. How hard is it to convert motive power/ are there any readily available options with RC/ Battery operation built in?
It is a drill press vise. I drilled and tapped some holes so I could bolt those aluminum wheels onto it. The vise adjustment clamp makes it easy to fine tune the tension on the rail. I got this idea from someone else on a forum online. You can buy rail benders but they are several hundred dollars. I have about $15 in this one.
I really didn’t keep a tally on the cost as I bought it over time. The loco battery setup is fairly straightforward if you can get a plug and play kit (which I did). Many of them you have to rewire and splice in, which is much more advanced. People often hire professionals to do those installations. Thanks.
Nice railroad :-)

Hey man what happened? Where did you go? Your videos were really good! The coupler vids were great and really well put together…..

Just curious about what you used for track ballast? Thanks!

What did you use to make the rail bender?

Any idea what the total track / track bed cost was?
Also, how hard is it to rewire a locomotive from track to battery power?
