Lou - the little town in Ontario had all kinds of these Demons around (along with Swingers, Chargers and Road Runners) back in the early 70's when I was in High School. Such awesome vehicles! This is just a premier example!!

I raced 340 Demons and Dusters back when they first came out in 1971. My first new car out of high school! I still have a 71 Demon 340 four speed with 14,200 original miles. Hemi Orange with 2 fender tags! Lots of options.😀

My 69 Roadrunner had 18,000 on it when I bought it from my cousin who bought it new in 1969. Was a 383 car, automatic, Once raced a 340 Dart Swinger, I had him out of the hole, but he nearly got me at top end. Those 340s sure could wind.

@@loucostabile I special ordered a 72 Demon 340 from Vietnam. Came home April 72 and picked it up. It was gold leaf metallic with black vinyl roof, black buckets with console and automatic and 3:55 gears. My older Brother was a Ford guy and bragged how he was going to blow me away with his 64 Ford Galaxy with 390 V8. I blew him away with no problem and could take my other Brother's 67 440 GTX off the line, but he killed me once he got going. MOPAR or NO car!!

The Citron color has to be seen in person, video just can’t capture it An acidic looking yellow green, totally unique from any other yellow or green. I would say it wasn’t popular, based on how long a couple of them sat in my local dealer’s lot. It was such a striking color. The name of the car had some issues, some people didn’t want that name on their car. For a kid who loved fast cars and bright colors, it was a joy to grow up back in the day. It all started for me with my brother’s’68 Coronet R/T 440 auto in white with a maroon interior that he purchased after his safe return from Vietnam. Fast!

Years ago, I wanted to buy one of these used from the Ford dealer in town, but my dad talked me out of it ! The guy that owned it lived down the street from me, and I heard it going past a lot. He had it hopped up with mild cam, headers, aluminium intake & nice carb. One of those times I shouldn't have listened to my dad... never got the car ,but still think about it once in a while ! Goodday Lou,
What a gorgeous colour combination & the black outs & the black vinyl roof really makes this Demon.
I saw a 1970 Duster yesterday at the shipping company, someone imported one in from the states, beautiful body lines these coupes.

5:39--Looks like a spark plug boot or wire arcing...... I'm of that age that when Demon is mentioned, I think of this Duster cousin and not the Challenger. What a beautiful Mopar and a killer exhaust note, which is a hallmark of all those factory high compression 340's.

My brother's was brown with a black top. I was nine or ten when he brought it home, in the mid 70's My Dad didn't approve, since he was on the hook for half the cost of insurance. It was scary fast stock, but after he was done, it was terrifying. I wouldn't even accept a ride to hockey practice. I'd rather drag the bag, that was as big as I, down the sidewalks than ride in that car.

I had a couple of friends in high school that had Dodge Demons...both had the 'Demon' (pitchfork) fender decal...but I don't remember either of them having the '340' on either the fender or the rear valence...though both were 340 cars with their original engine. I guess you could option up a 'Demon' without the 340 badging? I do know that the reason they didn't have a tach, was that it was (unbelievably) AN OPTION (on a car that otherwise, came stock with full Rally Gauges). The tach was like a $140 option, which very few took. Most were also automatics with buckets and center console...and of 71 or 72, you wanted the 71 model, as it was quite a bit higher compression (not sure if they came with W2 heads stock, or not). I could take a Demon with the 340, but it wasn't like I half-tracked them, or anything (I had a 70-1/2 AAR Cuda with a 340 Six Pack, M22 transmission, 8-3/4" 3.91:1). They were SOLID 13-second cars, no matter what ANY 'car magazine' said.

Lou you would’ve done better if that Galaxie had a 351W or better yet a 351M( modified), those Cleveland’s sounded mean but that was all. I had a Tbird that had a 351M in it and my brother had a Ford van that he had a Cleveland put in it, and the Cleveland had a little more stuff put into it, like cam, valve job, etc etc., but anyways we took both the Tbird and Van out to a straight country road that we knew, and lined them up and went for it, well I walked all over him with the Tbird and 351M. Go look at Ratrod Bobs channel, he just put together a old Ratrod pickup with a 351M in it.

Beautiful Demon 340. I am somewhat taken aback by the fact that the owner does not know that the button to the the right of the head light switch is the tripodometer reset button and that the owner thinks that it's the windshield washer button, which it definitely is NOT!!!
It's obvious from the view of the far right of the instrument panel where the windshield wiper switch is that this is a manual washer system, since the wiper switch doesn't have the typical instructional lettering "push to wash" on it or the panel molding, which if my files and file photos are correct and I am pretty damn sure they are, this is NOT the ELECTRIC WASHER SYSTEM, which I believe could be ordered as an option, and didn't become standard equipment until the following year due to federal government regulations.
If you pay attention to the views of the driver side floor, on the left side of the view you can see the high/low beam switch, a little silver button, and about 4 inches above and slightly to its right you can see a faint circle in the darkness, and that is a rubber bulb which you pressed with your left foot in order to spray windshield washer fluid onto the windshield. ALL A bodys (Darts, Swingers, Valiants, Scamps {A body Scamps}, and of course Barracudas {first and second generations} ),used this manual system. Of course since the Demon and the Duster were A body platforms they too used this manual system unless they were upgraded to the electric washer system. I am scared as hell that the owner apparently doesn't know where his windshield washer system is initiated, and not surprised that Lou doesn't know either, because while he seems to like cars, his interviews suck, he never seems to know the features that need to be pointed out that are unique to the car, and inspite of repeated interviews about the same models and brands over and over at different venues, he neither learns anything about the same models about which he has reported, nor does he retain anything gleaned from previous reports whether on the net or on the T.V. show.
If he had perhaps the interviews wouldn't be as bad as they are. He is definitely not prime time material.
One thing additionally as regards the instrument panel in the Demon at least the bean counters and marketing departments were able to make a great decision on utilizing the instrument panel from the second generation Barracudas for the A body Dusters and Demons. Good choice Mother Mopar!!!!!

@@loucostabile Thank you Lou. Saw another clip of a 340 Demon with the same scoops and the owner commented on no emblems or chrome front lip on the as opposed to the 340 Duster models.
Was on older woman in the neighboring town that had a 340 Duster that was purple with the large 340 Wedge decal on a matte black hood. I really miss those days.
