    Looks like an awesome destination. I think it's great that you include footage of features that you do not clean. It keeps you human and relatable. Keep up the great work.

    Great video man! The Downieville series of trails are some of my all time favorites! Also, a little tip, if you pause your video at around 8:06, and look to your left, there's a power station or something there. Go into that fenced area, and head past the equipment, and the little building. Up about 100ft further, there's a rocky swimming hole that has a mini waterfall that can be used as a water slide, and it's absolutely beautiful!. It's a wonderful place to eat a snack and cool down between runs. Check it out when/if you go there next :) Cheers!

    I just went there last Friday for the first time. Watched your video first though. It was epic! I even met another TH-camr out there. The climbing towards the end was brutal and I experienced my first ever cramp, but all in all it was a fantastic day. Checking out more of your videos. Thanks!

    Fun looking trails! The first part is a lot like Mill Creek Canyon, the top area. All the pine trees and the way the trails look. You can shuttle from Mill Creek up to Guardsman Pass at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. I think you would enjoy it. The whole ride along the crest trail into Mill Creek Canyon looks a lot like this. There are open areas along the crest trail where you get some good views. The single track guy has a good video of it.

    what is the name of that map app? I drove through last year and saw all the nice dh bikes. I had no time to stop and ask questions. but it inspired me. I have watched a couple of videos and looked around for a decent deal on a dh bike. I got an 05 specialized big hit comp. built it up. and I now feel like I cannot utilize this bikes potential anywhere in yuba/Sutter county. I am going to downyville soon and would like to take my bike down some aggressive trails. could you give me some advise.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Trailforks, it's great! Yuba Expeditions, the bike shop / shuttle company in Downieville is shut down until next year, but that's who I would ask for help!

    Nice video man, I just visited Downieville about a month ago. I hit the trail too hard being my first time on a downhill trail, good thing I had the Bronson CC that is one hell of a bike! So i'm preparing for a little bit of an epic ride in about a month up in Boulder, it's 66 miles, 6,600 feet of climbing. takes about 8 hours. I'll have a friend or two with me. But other than that I have never done a big ride like that. The only thing I'm worried about is the water situation. What d you think i should do? also any tips on how I can put the route INTO my garmin 800 would be great. thanks and keep making great videos!

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, man! For water I would check out Aquamira drops: amzn.to/29V4keP They are super compact, follow the instructions, mix the two chemicals and put them into your water and in about 15 minutes you're good to drink.
      As for the route, create it in Strava: www.strava.com/routes/new and once you save it you can click "export" and it will give you instructions on how to add it to your GPS.
      Thanks for the love, dude! That ride will be epic!

    Is it possible to do all these trails on a hard tail Trek Pro Caliber 9.9 - Carbon 29er ? I have very legit technical MTB skills. NO fear, but I am just wondering... If did Tahoe - Flume, Armstrong Pass, and Corral all on a previous hardtail (inferior Diamond back aluminum) Would I have any reason to worry about any sections shown in the video?

      I had 2 cracked frames, Bos forks went faulty and waited 3 month for bos to fix. So when the 3rd frame cracked I got a refund. Was on the original Capra pro. 170mm bit over kill in 90% places I ride in uk as I like to climb to get the good downs.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn, 170mm is overkill but you still cracked three frames! Hightower is quite fun, but it was a little too easy. Bronson is still #1 after riding a lot of bikes.

    I just found your video while researching the DD trails and love it. I've just started mountain biking and have camped in the Pack Saddle area every year for many years. My wife and I want to try the trails down to Downieville but are beginners and my wife rides a hard tail. We used to ride dirt bikes in the area many years ago. Is the main route down to D'ville doable for beginners if we take our time?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything's possible if you take your time! There'd be a lot of stuff you'd have to walk around and it might end up taking you 4 or so hours to get down if you're going slow.

      Thanks for letting me know. Most of your video looks like it would be a blast, short of a couple rocky sections. We can ride, just not fast lol. I'm glad you put the time into perspective, because I'll have a friend take us up and then pick us up in Downieville later. We camp at Sardine Lake every summer for a little over a week so we're right there.

    Thinking of going once the spring comes around you guys know how long it takes to get down once you get shuttle up?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends all on your ability. I can do it in about 90 minutes with no stops but I think it's more like 2.5 hours for most people.

      Thanks for the good vibes, as always! It's a 2.5 hour drive from my house. So I left around 5:15 am and had plenty of time for the first shuttle at 8:30. It really is magical.

    WHEN WILL DOWNIEVILLE BUILD A TRAM TO TAKE RIDERS DIRECTLY TO THE BUTTES? Maybe there isn't enough parking or year-round activity to justify the cost. But Man o man what a view.
