Thank you. I'm so glad to have tried it and now it will be a regular thing we do. I can't believe we didn't try it sooner. Do you have any favorite ways to eat them?
Nice video thank you for sharing. My friends and family was thinking about doing the same. We saw on the website fishing in Washington it seems like only for night. Web was not clear. Fist time clamming would like to go anytime of the day. My question is can you go anytime of the day? Thanks
Each day that's open for clamming they say when the low tide is. So you can get the clams generally about 2 hours before the low tide and about the same after the low tide. For night time tides you're not allowed to clam before noon. The reason behind going near the low tide is that's when the beach where they are at is not covered by water giving you easier access to dig them up. Hopefully that helps. It's so much fun and for us we plan to go when the tide is the earliest so we can go during the day light and not use lights. 2022 they have more day tides so light won't be as big of an issue if that's something you prefer.
It's a microscopic algae bloom. The first time we went out I avoided the area like this but then I watched WDFW video and they said the clams feed on the stuff in it so it's a good spot to dig in because they will be up at the surface. I thought it was bad at first but it's not bad at all.
Oh really? Yeah they say is a phemoniom so seems like it might not happen that much but I've seen it a couple of the times we have gone clamming. It's always interesting how much diversity happens when you are in a different location even if it's on one side of the states versus the other. That's awesome you are from the UK. Are you able to harvest any natural resources there like animals? Where we are located we fortunately have quite a few resources to collect and catch.
The beaches specifically on the Washington coast are Long Beach, Ocean Shores (Copalis), Mocrocks, Twin Harbor and I believe a few others that you can harvest them from when permitted.
For these particular clams the guns work well. For like at steamer clams you have to dig down and get them. I'd love to try that out too but almost all the coast right now has biotoxins. So maybe down the road.
I love the shot of the rainbow!
Me too!
This is great! I have a ton of memories digging razors out there.

I think it’s a good thing when you lose count of how many you have 😂
Very nice catch! Can’t wait for a cooking recipe vid next👩🍳
Yes. Great idea. I have a good tip I found on cooking them. Hoping to get back out to clam again in a few weeks so I'll keep a cooking video in mind!
why is the sea water and foam so dirty looking?

@@bountifulpnw that is so interesting, we don't get that in the UK

Truthfully didn’t have a clue that’s how you get them.
