Neither projector calibrated, none of the settings posted to show us how they are setup, basically meaningless comparison with a hype man to make the NZ900 sound as if it is an actual upgrade.
The thing that surprised me was the added detail, the colours etc will be identical when calibrated but the details can’t really be enhanced the same way. The other shocker is the rooms that these super expensive projectors end up in, imagine how much better the experience would be in a properly treated room.
Yes. This is one major advantage with JVC over other brands. With that said, you still could use a MadVR envy for many other of its great features like aspect ratio and subtitle management, geometry correction, ect. I would think the NZ900 would be sharper as demonstrated in this video. The NZ9 25th anniversary is an NZ9 with a higher contrast ratio. But the sharpness is improved in the current Gen.
Great video on the nuances of the two flagship offerings from JVC. I think showing animated films is a good way of showing differences in contrast, brightness, etc. I mentioned this before, if you can get a good deal on an RS-4100/ NZ9 and apply the savings to a MadVR or a DCR lens, jump on it as the supply is all but gone. If you can't, the NZ900 is the best money can buy in this price range. Would be neat to see a comparison between the Anniversary model and the NZ900.
@@kellenfleener Why an ALR screen in a light controlled room? I am waiting for a budget JVC solution before I upgrade. Hopefully a JVC upgrade announcement in July or by CEDIA?
@@marvinabugov4579 we will be sure to keep you updated! The ALR screens are perfect for customers that want to view the screen with the lights on or if they have a lot of ambient light. ALR screens are very popular. Thanks for watching!
@Dreamediaav he meant in this the light is controlled as it's a dedicated room but still why the ALR? Is it because it gives more pop/ contrast when viewed head on? NM: viewing with the lights on
I see a slight lean on the blues for NZ900, don't know if it's only for my eyes. Moreover, are both the projectors calibrated or out of the box settings?
It's interesting to hear your observation about the NZ900's color lean! If you're seeing a slight blue tint, it might be due to calibration settings. Often, projectors come with factory settings that may not be perfectly balanced. If both projectors were calibrated, they should display colors more accurately, but if they're using out-of-the-box settings, color accuracy can vary significantly. Depending on what equipment you are interested in hearing we would recommend different showrooms. We have showing options all over the USA. Kellen’s showroom is a good one that features many of our best selling brands. Thanks for watching!
Its wild that JVC doesnt tap into the same market that the Chinese projectors are targeting w/ the more super simple home theater projector kits or portable projector kits
Didnt see any difference in brightness, the difference in sharpness also not visible especially since we watch this video that is streaming on a phone or tablet… the colors were only thing that was noticeable different- no calibration is the obvious reason… JVC basically stalled on giving us any real upgrade, very disappointing
You got to remember that you can watch this video in 4k, and assuming you have a newer iPhone you should also have an advanced oled screen with very accurate colors
Thanks for this Dream Media team! I will keep my NZ8 with DCR lens and Lumagen rig. The NZ800/900 upgrades are too minimal for the cost.

The room is now treated. The empty panels are now wrapped diffusion and absorption panels.

It did indeed look unfinished 🤔
Does it still have a set fan speed at certain lens percentages? My nz7 is fine at level 46 but 47 makes it go crazy loud. Thanks!
Do the NZ9 vs NZ800! They have the same contrast but different lenses and lumen levels.
So... if this does frame by fram adjustments... would that theoretically remove the reasoning behind having to get a madvr envy?

with the lower price of the Z9 - I would love to see a comparison between the Z9 and the new Z800

I have the anniversary model. With a Lumagen. No complaints, it's fantastic.
Beautiful setup! Thanks for sharing!

This is what I have been thinking. I currently have a RS-4100/NZ9 and was wondering if it’s better to upgrade to the NZ900 or buy a DCR Lens.
@@jeremywhipple7554 buy the DCR lens
Whose screen, material spec and size? Excellent overview.
This was on a 120” 16:9 EPV PolarStar ALR screen. Both offerings looked great! But the subtle upgraded image on the 900 was noticeable and welcomed

@@cyberathlete The answer I got had more to do that the client wants the option to leave the lights on thus requiring an ALR screen.

why i feel like nz9 color looks better.
Because it looks more dim but the 900 is more colorful
@@cordcuttercam look at the warship picture,nz900 doest look as colorful as nz9.only sharper, also that anime pic,nz900 looks bluish
Nz900 have a soul. Nz9 not
That's an interesting take! The NZ900 does have a unique character that many enthusiasts appreciate.
It would be nice if you learned how to pronounce the letter " Z " correctly. You need to quit saying ZEEE. The correct way is ZED
