Good video! Washers generally are punched out of sheet. They have a slight cupping or an edge to them. Put this edge toward the bearing so that the outer race is contacted first. This will deliver on the intent of the tool, i.e. no damage.

Love your vids Matt! That’s how I cold press the bearings on 200t’s.
I put the crank in and then use old 200t bearings as packers then use the flywheel nut or the clutch to press the seals on. Cool that you have a tool though!

Kiwi Lad I've done the same thing installing the seals using the clutch etc....no more of that for me. That was in my original 200t vids. ...happy to have this tool now ...will make life much easier. Glad you like the vids!

Arbor press works like a charm

For the bearings maybe...if you have a press. I dont. But for the seals it's a bit of a different game because they are plastic .... bake lite to be exact. They crack if they aren't exactly right

Hey Matt That's what I was thinking, leave the brass driver in place to remove the jack bolt and also set the seal in place with the brass driver before the jack bolt is set in place, one can never be to careful. Mole hills turn into really BIG MOUNTAINS real fast. I say use the sealer, one can never be to careful just like performing a pressure/vacuum test on the crankcase before you start it up. My dad always told me that I needed to pay attention detail.

Do you repair saws for a living. I got a 200t that needs bearings and seals and dont have time to do it. Was wondering if you do it and how much you would charge if you do?

Nice job are you doing a port and polish on this saw?

tim freeman I've done all that to 200t ....and it really doesn't help much ....not much point. Increasing compression only makes it annoying to start up in a tree lol.

It's so refreshing to hear common sense being spoken when concerning work saws. Especially climbing saws. Cheer. Love the videos you share.

Chad Harzbarger thanks Chad. A lot of what I've learned on these 200t came from my own experience but also from a guy named "lone wolf" over at opeforum.com. ....he does way more 200t than I do and he's the real expert

@@matthewolson8875 all good if not, but would you mind sharing the dimensions for the tool so I could have one 3d printed? Never done 200t seals before, seems like this tool would save some pain!

@@mphipps34 all good man... internally it fits a 5/16" threaded rod. Externally its same outer diameter as the seal...maybe a hair smaller.. just gotta measure the seal and also make a small lip to grab the seal... and again just measure the seal itself for that dimension. About 3 or 4 inches long is fine. If you want to use a carriage bolt then you can add a square recess at the back of the piece so the bolt is captured. Enjoy!
