You are incredibly skilled at conveying how much a football club means to us and that we follow the club through thick and thin. Even here in Norway, people have been following Rochdale. There was a lot of focus on Rochdale in a Norwegian football newspaper in the late 70s and 80s when they were in danger of losing their place in the league, but were voted back in an impressive four times.
We have also learned that the fourth division is also called the Rochdale League. There should be three teams that are promoted directly from the National League and the fourth place goes to the playoffs.
I hope we see Rochdale back in the football leauge soon.

Being from the US, we don’t have promotion or relegation. Our teams have bad seasons and we just move onto next year. People stop supporting the team all together due to bad play and they take it for granted. This is why I love football. It’s just complete, raw emotions from every single fan. It makes promotion that much more meaningful.

"Without those sad times, you just have expectation, you wouldn't have hope"
Truer words were never spoken; I remember speaking to a New England Patriots (who play in Boston) fan after they won the Super Bowl in 2019 (their 3rd in 5 years).
He was not elated, he wasn't even excited, it was just like any other game to him.
Boston teams have 12 championships across leagues, and appeared in finals 12 additional times.
Boston have so many winning sports teams that fans expect winning, and those fans have definitely turned from hope to expectation.
I got kind of upset at his blasé attitude, because I know how much it has meant for me when my teams *almost* made it to the promised land (none have in my lifetime).
Having a "well, that's another season done 🤷" reaction to the team that he was supposedly passionate about winning it all just rubbed me the wrong way

One of my best moments in AFL here in Australia was when my team Geelong was beaten in the grand final by Hawthorn in 08. We were expected to win and yet we were outplayed on the day. Standing there surrounded by euphoric Hawthorn fans watching their players get their championship medals was a great metaphor for life. Sometimes it really hurts. That’s when you dig deep and keep moving forward, knowing it will get better.

Feel gutted for Rochdale, I have had a soft spot for them, ever since I started following football, way back in the 70's. I'm from New Zealand, but my grandparents are from Lancashire, and every Monday the newspapers would print the English football leagues out in their entirety. My grandfather supported PNE, and in those days would scroll down to third division tables, I used to do the same, and week after week, year after year, Rochdale would prop up the rest of the football league. Really hope that they can recover, and bounce back. When I spent some time in the UK, I lived not far from Barnet, they were a real yo-yo team, if ever there was one. They have struggled along in the National League for a few years, and their form hasn't been great lately. I have a soft spot for them as well. Bristol Rovers, and a couple of other teams have bounced back after a relatively short time in the National League, hopefully Rochdale can do it.

My goodness, I just learned about the whole pro/rel system two years ago. And this season was the first that I watched multiple tiers of English football for the entire season starting back in August. They post promotion videos on TH-cam but there aren't many interviews like this that show what it's like to be in the stands the moment your team is knocked out of the division. It honestly looks and sounds like a funeral procession coming out of the grounds. It seems to me that being relegated hurts 10x worse than the joy of gaining promotion. I don't know how you guys do it.

So chin up and keep supporting hard. Love the channel x

What a shame. My mom is from Rochdale (she immigrated to the states) so seeing Rochdale make some amazing runs in the FA cup over the years has been absolutely incredible. Just seeing the name Rochdale pop up on my feed usually makes me so proud. I truly hope this isn’t the last the world sees of this miraculous little club.

This is a bit heartbreaking for me. I'm from Germany and I have to confess I've never been to a Rochdale-match yet. But whenever I am asked what my favourite team in England is I'd always answer it is Rochdale since 24 years now. It was back in the days that I used to start Championship Manager careers in 4th tier, and always with Rochdale. So because of this I grew more and more passionate about the Dale in little time. My best friend even got me a Rochdale shirt as a birthday-present back then (with 'carcraft' being the shirt sponsor), which I will continue to wear with pride, also with the club in bloody National Division now. Hope we'll soon make it back to the division we belong to. I mean it was even named after us, wasnt it (Rochdale-Division)? Thanks for the video and your true words about being a fan in the end, which I do entirely agree to.

Well said at the end. I’m a Leyton Orient fan, we went out of the league for a couple of seasons and nearly went out of business six years ago. The National league is tough to get out of but will be keeping my fingers crossed for Rochdale. Didn’t like the stick the fans gave their players at the end of the again. Those players were devastated just like the fans.

As an Exeter City fan I relate to this also. Being relegated out of the football league was the hardest pill I've had to swallow. When we got out the national league, we were promoted again to League 1 the next season. It is the hardest league to get out of.
PS, I was at Brisbane Road last season when you done us 3-0. Couple of O's fans bought me a couple of pints after the game and I've had a soft spot for O's since. Well done on promotion and I'll be at Brisbane Road again next season.

Im a Brentford fan and remember away trips to Stockport and Rochdale and the precarious position Brentford were in at the time.
It really speaks volumes about the twists of fate in football. Both have now had times out of the football league and who knows what the future holds for Rochdale, while we were lucky enough to have one of the most successful fan takeovers in the history of the game and are now battling for European football.
I try not to forget how close we were to collapse at one point to keep everything in perspective. Premier league defeats hurt so much less when you remember where we were 15 years ago.

It's gut-wrenching to see the downfall of so many historic clubs from the Greater Manchester area. From the strife that have seen Bolton and Wigan yo-yo between leagues, to Oldham and Rochdale falling out of the Football League and Bury and Macclesfield Town dissolving, the decline of these local clubs is tragic. It's truly shameful how this has been allowed to happen.
