- Russell Wilson went on the 'I Am Athlete' Podcast and brought up his future and goals, saying that he wants to win 'two Super Bowls in five years' and is even open to taking the veteran minimum. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one team seeking their next starting QB and could be on the hunt for Russ. Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy and James Jones discuss whether the Steelers are a good fit for Russ or not.

they did lose a cb who had 11 in a season on the Tuesday before the week 4 game when they played the 49ers. You are not going to be good when you have 2 of your top 3 lb's and an all pro cb on IR by week 5.

@@startedfromscratch1529 that part is true but we also had no linebackers because of injury. The 2000 Ravens were healthy, the 2007 and 2012 Giants were healthy, the 2013 legion of boom was healthy and only on those specific years were they considered a generational defense

He walked into Hackett, a pretty good defense (who later gave up 70 to Miami) and one decent developing receiver, though both ran iffy routes and dropped a lot of balls... He's not bad. As the other three hosts noted. Payton doesn't like him. That's on Payton.
The defense that he walked into was top 10. Then Evero decided to leave when Payton wanted him back and he brought in VJ. If people actually watched film, then they’d see that Russ missed wide open guys because he’d always look for Sutton

Denver was supposedly a QB away and a dark horse playoff team when Russ got there and he proceeded to have the worst season of his career with a top 10 defense already in place. Then Sean gets here and they have their best season since 2016. Russ had 8 games where he threw for less than 200 yards and 1 game where he threw for less than 100.

Acho gotta understand that Russ came from a culture where every player was Dawgs during the 10 years in seattle. He was competing against the LOB. He literally had marshawn, Angry Doug, Hot temper Dk metcalf in the locker room. Like Russ can handle Pittsburgh. Acho - a guy that gives up his body the way Russ has taking hits, scrambling that’s an edge. You respect that as a teammate. We need to be careful about what people portray as tough because that’s not necessarily the case.
Russ left Karen / has a Beautiful Lady / family made a ton of bread and has had a great career - he is a competitor and I’m sure he wants to play well longer but this is the entertainment business. He’s done fine keep working Russ.

I am SO sick of these clowns talking about defense, dear god. For many years Russ had a bad defense in Seattle. Yet y'all keep yapping about LoB, even though they were losing before Russ got there. This year Mahomes was carried by his defense and playcalling, yet he gets all credit. This is a circus.
So many contradicting statements made from Acho. So if Russell has a personality problem how can he also be known by everyone as a "nice guy." The media can't decide if he's a locker room menace that everyone hates or a guy that's too "nice." There is absolutely no adult in this world who has ever worked a job that's been liked by or gelled well with every single co-worker. And I will say this, for the few teammates who've taken shots at Russ, there's more guys that I can quote or link to an interview where they've praised Russell and his leadership. But none of that matters. He has all the personality traits and skills needed to be an NFL QB for the last 12 years. For football reasons, Russ being on the Steelers is a great match. At no point do we ever need to factor in a player's likeability to evaluate them. They pointed out how Big Ben was an asshole, but in his career nobody ever made that a factor into evaluating him as a QB. Why does Russ always have to be evaluated that way?
If Buzzcut Russ goes to the Steelers, put it on the board they are getting 1 SB in the next 3 years. Period.

Idk why so many people hate Russ or think he’s washed. I think the smart thing for Denver would be to keep him and try to restructure his contract to help add some to the cap space. If Russ really wants to stay like he says he does he'd at least consider restructuring. I’m not saying cut all the money he’s due but I’m sure he knows his play hasn’t justified the amount he signed for. But people also need to realize that he’s played for 2 coaching staffs and 2 different schemes in his 2 years in Denver. His stats last year at very least justify a chance to continue starting. If I were Denver I’d keep him and draft a rookie. None of the rookie qbs are ready to start outside of Williams, Drake, and Daniels. So what’s the alternative? They draft and and start a rookie QB, they play terribly and then the fan base hates the new rookie QB, on top of Denver still owing Russell Wilson his contract for the year? Or do they keep Russ for another year and see what they got left in him, and give whatever rookie quarterback they draft a chance to learn the scheme and game speed from a year of sitting behind a vet? When the Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes, he sat for a year behind Alex Smith. Tons of QBs have sat for a year or more. Whoever they draft will need time to developer and they already have Russ under contract. Use this time to invest in the team as a whole and that way the money Russ is due isn’t a complete waste and they’re still able to groom a young QB for the future.

It's the system. Everybody talks players, but they don't talk the system. That's what was bending and finally broke for Wilson in Denver. He might need a lot of scrappy run option offenses with two tight end packages at his age though.

Yall missing it Russ wanted to go to Chicago before he got traded Denver and Chicago can make a trade and Chicago can trade Justin Fields somewhere Denver gets Caleb Chicago has players and draft picks that they can build around Russ and Denver has a Franchise QB with a coach who gets good production out of their QB’s Justin get another chance somewhere else to prove his worth every one’s happy
