Literally typing that out, then saw this lol. Surprised you didn't include it as you have mentioned in previous videos how much you like it, which lead me to buy it lol.
Stumbled across your video and LOVE your down-to-earth, practical style of presenting, with the hands-on approach. Very informative, thanks very much. Have subscribed as a result.
I use the Maguire's one, its especially good if you use the proper applicator. I never drive my car the day I wash it, so after a night in the garage, the next day its fine, I don't get any fling off on to the paintwork. It lasts really well and has that glossy look that I like. I might give the Autoglym one a go, but I still have 2 bottles of Megures, so maybe by the end of the year I can buy some.
Same! I see a lot of folks complain about applying it but I've always used the rectangular applicator brush so never had an issue. If you use a long handle brush with a million soft brittles, yes Meguiar's will be a pain as it is a gel but it last longer than anything I've ever tried.
Great reviews! Recently got back into home detailing my new car and your reviews have been invaluable. Based on demonstrable evidence and tests, well done, keep it up!
Gyeon is my favorite. Did a video on using the Q2 Tire on my channel about a year ago. Tempted to test their Tire express as well. Love the deep matte black look Q2 Tire provides.
Brilliant job! By far the most informative video on this subject and I've watched a lot of rubbish to arrive, finally, at someone who has done a fab job! Many thanks!
Endurance has never let me down, all the way from South Africa and drive on dusty roads every now and then and it doesn't even attract that much dust.. Solid product all round
For most things, I don't think you can go wrong with Autoglym. A couple of products are not fantastic, i.e. I don't like the spray tyre shine, and the Rapid Detailer isn't as good as Megs Quick Detailer. But the tyre gel is great, and Autoglym glass cleaner is by far the best I've used, even my wife has me buy it for round the house. Almost all of the products I use to clean our two cars are Autoglym, support British.
I'm using Simoniz at the moment being a sort of use what i have cheapskate. It cost £4:99 for 500ml from Wilco Motorsave and says it's for bumpers and tyres. It works well, ihave washed the car 3 times in the last month and forgot to re apply and the tyres still look great. Fantastic channel John keep up the good work.
I find “Well Dressed” very similar to Maguires Endurance. I only apply it if the vehicle can be left overnight & then I give the tyres another wipe over the next morning. I also use AutoBrite Tyre Gloss or Autoglym Instant Tyre Shine after a maintenance wash but these don’t last long.
Meguires fan here..... I use the tyre gell on the black bumpers and exterior trim on my vw transporter.... Instantly removes any fading of the plastic and look like new..... 👌
Primarily been using CarPro PERL. Can apply with an applicator easily, but more importantly can put in an atomizing sprayer for larger tires with textures or off-road tread patterns that are part of the sidewall. Plus it’s water based, so easy cleanup and removal when dressing again. Also testing Adams graphene tire dressing. I know, gimmicky to use graphene in the name. But....so far it’s been quite good.
Meguiar's Endurance is the best for a deep, black shine. It is messy to apply, but if you leave it overnight to dry it's o.k.. I use the turtle wax one for a quick top up between Meguiar's.
@@alanhunter2009 it’s very similar. However, neither the Meguairs or Turtle wax product have a good endurance on their own hence the reason I mix it with the Meguairs endurance tyre shine, which makes it more resilient to water and easy to apply as Endurance viscosity is quite thick.
I've used pretty much every tyre dressing since the early 2000s. I was recently sent a free tube of Stjarngloss tyre and trim dressing, and honestly it knocks anything else I've ever used into a cocked hat. Perl I actually always found rubbish and didn't last five minutes. Blackout is quite good but the prep to make it work is a pain. The Stjarngloss was spread onto our well used jeep all terrain tyres, with just a cursory scrub of the tyre beforehand with car shampoo. The dressing gives an amazing look and also is lasting really well.

Another killer review where you touched all the bases, dotted all the I's and crossed every T. Your summary on Optimum Tyre hit the nail on the head, yes it lasts, but you have to reapply after every washing for it to look as good as the car looks. It is a "Dressing", not an undercover tire treatment. The Meguiars is exactly how I remembered it, solid and black and wet looking but it looks ratty in a hurry even though it is on there for a good 10-12 days. The Gyeon, of course, it's good, it's Gyeon. But what I am really finding out over the last few months from watching your show as a viewer from the States, is just how good AutoGlym's product line it. Wow, I said when I watched your Bimmer car wash video, this Polar Wash, Polar Blast and Polar Sealant are the real deal and they blew me away and now the Tyre Dressing. OK, I'm a believer. Thanks as always Jon for a great test and show.
I did a tire dressing this weekend on my red 2018 Mazda CX5 with Autoglym. Just wanted to share my experience for any other newbies.
I’m just a couple of years over 60. I haven’t done this since my 20’s, but I love that red CX5 just wanted to show the love. First, I’ve watched a metric fuk ton of videos on tire dressings, not because of the price, but because it’s a PITA, (literally for me) so you don’t want to have to do it too frequently. First of all, the most important step: preparation. I rinsed and cleaned the tires and wheels with Optimum Power Clean and a good stiff brush. Research tells me it’s the best product our there for that task. You can either use it 1:1 thru 3:1. Based on that, figure how much you’re going to need over time when you buy it. I went with 3:1 The stuff in the bucket didn’t seem to get too dirty, but it was kind of hard to tell since the soap is orangey and the brush came away from the tire with that brown/orangey color. I used one mix for the first two tires and mixed up another batch for the other two. (Re prep- Every mfg. of every car dressing requires you to do this. Any brand that doesn’t is one I’d steer clear of. I hate prepping anything BTW.)
I hosed tire down after done, then as the tire was drying I sat down and using a towel to clean the wheel did a real detailing job. I spent somewhere between 5-10 min on each wheel. During that time the tire dried about 80-85%. Next I took a hand-held hairdryer got what was left and went over the tire to make sure it was completely dry. (Critical)
Using a foam pad - 5” x 5” (it was from a packing crate - I cut it up.) I laid a bead of the Autoglym on the edge. You definitely want to use a piece of foam - of course it absorbs a lot of the liquid, but you’re going to want to squeeze it against the tire at times to make sure it gets in all the raised/recessed print.
Once I was done, I put the foam in a Ziploc bag to keep it from drying out. Will that work? Dunno, but I have to do my wife’s Chevy Sonic Turbo (once my hips a butt recover.) and this stuff isn’t that cheap. It smells great BTW. I started at the top, made my way down each side.
It goes on nicely and gets in all the crevices. What I was going for was a “new tire” not the glossy look that a lot of the boys here in Yonkers love. I got somewhere in between. I think I spent too much time applying it - I went around the tire - still wet - several times just to make sure I hit all the high and low spots. I dried it with a microfiber towel as recommended. I ended up with something between new tire and glossy. The product seems great so far, but I wanted to let you all know that when you apply it, if you’re going for the “new tire” look don’t let it sit on the surface more than 3-4 min before wiping it down. Jon - would you say that’s about right?
Anyway, that’s my experience so far. Hopefully it will prove to be the product that Jon found it to be.
Totally agree, had my bottle for two years and there is still a quarter left, if you use less product and spread it more, which is easily done and then you get no sling. Also £14 were did you get that from Jon, i paid just over £9 last summer from Halfords
I like the Autoglym but it is very messy and dirty. Autoglym also suggest the longer you leave it to dry the better. It is good once it's on and dry though. I usually get about 6 weeks out of it before I want to reapply. Great test.
Yet another great comparison video John. I'm at the moment using the Autoglym liquid spray dressing and I'm happy with it although it's not got much durability to be honest. I will try the Autoglym gel next. As always with the Autoglym products they are very well priced. Thank you putting in the effort with your tests 👍
Great video as always John. Your conclusion has aligned with my own. I’ve been using Autoglym tyre gel for years and it has always provided very good results.
Hi John - The price is now about $22 on Amazon - but like 1200+ 5 star reviews! At first I was like "Who IS this lunatic?" Then I watched the video and learned how carefully and fairly you went through your testing. You make a good arguement for the product and so I orfered some. By the end of the video I was impressed. I was still asking "Who IS this lunatic?!" But in the best possible way. Which is why I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed!
Thanks from Alabama in the US! I watch all your videos. First time commenting. I started out using Mequiars, but have since switched over to Superior’s Cover All. High gloss aerosol spray that dries quickly, zero sling, last for weeks!
I like to use meguiar's endurance gel and meguiar's Hot shine tire spray "which looks a bit like Turtle wax wet N black". With a good drying cure (important, the time for the tire to absorb the product!), endurance gel and tire spray have an excellent water-repellent effect !. Good review my friend! 👍 👍 👍
Ditto to your test which is much appreciated, I've used many tyre dressings and can confirm Autoglym being the best I've used with PowerMaxed gel a. close second, yet I've not yet seen you demonstrate many PowerMaxed products, interestingly it is my favourite Shampoo/wax
This is all pretty new to me I was bought up in a time many used fairy liquid to wash their car but I was posh & used turtle wax - it doesn't feel like that long ago but I am nearly an antique - your channel has bought me up to date & told me all I need to know plus you have shown what can be done on a budget acknowledging that the cheapest is often not really the cheapest, thanks I have subscribed & am enjoying your videos
Been using car pro perl for about a year havent looked back to anything else since really does save the tyres going brown from it being waterbased and also not very expensive as you can dilute it
Great informative video. I ordered the Autoglem gel 2 minutes after watching your test. That you for great video and saving me wasting money trying this myself.
I like the Optimum's Tire Coating, lasted a good while. But I just "missed" going through the motion of applying a tire dressing after washing my car. My personal favorite is Optimum's Opti-Bond.
Hello John though I’d update my tyre dressings. I have been using Satin for years and I really love it’s application no mess at all is to apply I like the finish but isn’t that durable imo. I have since purchased megs & AG, these 2 seem like amazing products look nice I even used the megs on plastic trim let see how that goes. They only down side I found was megs was too sticky and had to apply AG was to runny and would end up spilling out of the bottle. Both lovely products think I’ll be using these 2 going forward.
Brilliant video as always! Don’t know if you’ve ever used it or not, but shiny garage back2black is fantastic. Sio2 based too! Satin finish on one layer, 2 layers leaves a semi gloss finish. Very durable and the finish and application are in my opinion the best on the market. Happy to send you a sample out if you’d like to try it! Also have some pictures I can send you so you can see the end result after application!
I have been using the Meguiars one for a long time, but found it to be too sticky and a little difficult to apply. Now, I use the Gyeon Tire one and I think it is better in every way (instead of its price of course)!
Used to use finesse satin and think it’s water based. Went to VRP, very good. Now use Perl or VRP. Water based important on light colour cars due to sling. John, try carpro blackout - need to see what that’s like.
Would love for you do a follow up review with Adams Tire Shine, Yum Cars' Dress and Sansom's Voodoo Black Gloss Tyre & Trim gel. My favourite dressing is Adams Tire Shine, because its too shiny, just how I like it, and it then changes to a matt finish. It lasts about 4-6 weeks for me, driving and staying on the carport, with two coats. Happy to consider others, but doubt anything will beat the Adams Tire Shine. I just wished these manufacturers would offer you a small 50ml bottle as a tester. Common John, start a campaign, We want small 50ml testers, We want small 50ml testers. When do we want it. Now!!!!! I heard from a manufacturer, that Pan the Sponsored channel demanded $5,000 when he had 180K subscribers. But they have no idea how much he charges now. Your thoughts on sponsored channels, that don't admit to being sponsored. As it's so obvious with Pan The Sponsored, as his garage has more products than Halfords, and never ever criticises any products he reviews. Just says how much they cost and how great they are to use. And then next week does the same with another company that paid him to review their products. Does he actually buy any of these products? Your thoughts, please.
Sir Jon, love your reviews but this is what I do. What I do is clean the tire very well, then use IPA, heat and apply even the cheapest tire dressing and it lasts month and a half. Love and respect from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
I've been using the Meguiars one for three years now, and I must say I am quite happy with it. Looks killer on application, but can sling a bit. Better to apply two light coats in that case. About durabilitiy - the crazy shine dies kinda fast, especially when it is raining otuside, but like your test showed - tire stays darker even after the shine is gone, so for me, in a way you've got two products in one - crazy shine after application, and satin sheen after a while. Bottle lasts a long time too - I am on my second one right now. Another thing that I discovered - it requires less and less in following applications if you stick to that dressing. Smells great also. Big downside is the application - it is greasy, so you've got to wear gloves, or your hands will get all black and messy. Like I said it slings like mad, so you need to learn when enough is enough to cover the tire, but not to overapply. It is very similar product to Gtechniq T2.
Thanks for the review. Always enjoy your videos and learn from them. What is the difference between your winner, Autoglym Gel and Autoglym Instant tyre dressing?
I've extensively tried both megs and auto glym. Personally I prefer megs as I find it more durable. The auto glym doesnt last long enough. The one down side with megs is dressing fling. Looking to try Geon next...
I'm one of those sad people that clean their car evey weekend so I'm always reapplying and I don't need a long lasting product. At the moment I'm using Astonish spray. It's about £3 from Wilko and is one of the best I've found for a weekly application. At work we use Autosmart aerosol spray but it's expensive and messy. Great review and I'll be trying Autoglym on my next product run. 👍
If you wanted Sonax to win, you should have tested their newest tire dressing. It’s a spray bottle, costs around 13€ / 500ml and is called Matteffect. It’s very easy to apply, lasts longer then the gel and gives you - as the name suggests - a non shiny finish. I love that one, it’s the best I tried so far.
I agree,I use autoglym it is good,I’ve also tried meguiars endurance,it looks good, but like you say it attracts dirt and dust,I like the autoglym because it dries, well done, good video and tests.👍
this comment prompted me to check. YT had put 3 in video adds in which is too many. I manually removed one. its really wierd the way it does this, sometimes it shovels one in other times ive seen like 6. ridiculous. too many adverts spoil the video so thanks for feeding this back.
@@ForensicDetailing Don't worry , we can always skip... or wait doing something else, knowing it will mean a little money for the youtuber. Here in Martinique I only get local, or american adds on youtube. Not sure you can manage this anyway.... Love you still :P
I sometimes wonder when some of these products push that they are also a protectant, what happens to the inside tyre wall? Yes I know that some hyper detailers remove their wheels to give all round protection but most people don't. Perhaps do that once a year or maybe twice when you can protect the insides of the rim and tyre before winter sets in and salt gets a chance to coat the inside and next in the spring to git rid of all the winter gunge. I've always found the Autoglym tyre gel to be good along with its companion bumper dressing. Both bottles down to the last knockings so I've got some Perl to try sometime.
even if you put protectant on the inside tyre wall the main tread has nothing on it. I dont know. but yer I am really more of the thought that these are dressings and Ive not seen any like real life proof of benefits to rubber from protection. you can say UV can dry the exposed face out. but Im agnostic maybe one day I see it.
I've used tyre products before where you get a different finish on different tyres so you really need to find a product that suits your own tyre imo still interesting though
Jon, I used to use both AutoGlym and Meguiars for my shows but has you mentioned never dries and got very dirty jeans a few times by touching the tyre whilst polishing. I have been very impressed with my Gtechniq T1 which i use now.
Great video again John, thank you. My meguiars endurance bottle exploded recently. Thought I’d pick up another bottle from Halfords, but I’ll grab the autoglym while I’m there instead
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Will definitely try the Autoglym stuff. I was going to use Carpro Perl, but put off by the lack of longevity.
Great reviews john, iv been using autoglym since 2005 when my brand new Skoda octavia vrs was coated and i got the stater kit, been hooked ever since then, and iv still got the car but not been on the road for 5 years now, its only got 80,000 miles on it and if there’s anyone out there interested let me know, I’m starting to set up a detailing business, then that way i can spend more time at home helping my wife fight cancer, 👍

Came for the review.... stayed for the super clean garage !
Jon: Let me know how you feel about this
Autoglym: We feel great about this
I love Autoglym stuff, very often underrated in my opinion, I'll be adding this to my arsenal!
@@steverabbits wow, you must really want a shiny arsen..oh, I see.
@@thebrowns5337 😂😂😂😂
I love autoglym 😄
Love Autoglym products but I personally don’t like the tyre dressing
Hi John - The price is now about $22 on Amazon - but like 1200+ 5 star reviews! At first I was like "Who IS this lunatic?" Then I watched the video and learned how carefully and fairly you went through your testing. You make a good arguement for the product and so I orfered some. By the end of the video I was impressed. I was still asking "Who IS this lunatic?!" But in the best possible way. Which is why I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed!
Your path to the dark side is now complete 😁
ive been using the Geon for a year now and i absolutely love it. There is noticeable longevity compared to other dressings i use.
Pearl is better and multi purpose. Gyeon is so sticky. Still have half a bottle I gave up on using.
@@AndreasHappyfarm I find that Gyeon performs better on tires. I put ceramic coatings on my rubber seals etc...keeps them looking new forever.
I’ve been using VRP for the last couple of years I think when spring comes I’m going to try Feynlab’s black velvet tire sealant or Gyeon tire
Pulled the trigger on Autoglynn after your review, thanks!
Great video. I just tried Carpro darkside and absolutely love it. Nice Matt finish. Water resistant. Good darkening quality. Fairly long lasting.
Thanks John. I always value your reviews
I use Obsessed Garage tire dressing and don’t see a need to change but I enjoyed the test. Thanks!
Love your channel. Kind regards from Bonnie Scotland 🏴
Thanks from Alabama in the US! I watch all your videos. First time commenting. I started out using Mequiars, but have since switched over to Superior’s Cover All. High gloss aerosol spray that dries quickly, zero sling, last for weeks!
Autobrite Tyre Gloss for me, easy to apply with sponge pad. Got 5litre in Christmas sale and has lasted over 2 years with lots left.
Autoglym and Maguires are my go-to products. For tyre gel I go for Maguiars Endurance normally but I may go back and try the Autoglym one again.
Try mixing Endurance with another Meguair’s product named ‘Hot Shine’ it makes application so much easier and it has great ‘endurance’ too👍🏻
Very nice test, you’ve got the right winner in my opinion too. Best regards from Denmark
YAAAY! There can be only one - you need to get yourself a BIG sword now Jon!
Glass cleaner and coatings next please! 😉
Ditto to your test which is much appreciated, I've used many tyre dressings and can confirm Autoglym being the best I've used with PowerMaxed gel a. close second, yet I've not yet seen you demonstrate many PowerMaxed products, interestingly it is my favourite Shampoo/wax
I like meguiars but I will apply when I can leave it over night and then wipe over the day after then it seems ok
Yea its very gloopy and sits on for a while, can get alot of spit off even after a few hours
It does give a great finish tho
looks like AutoGlym's R&D paid off, defiantly going to try out that dressing.
This is all pretty new to me I was bought up in a time many used fairy liquid to wash their car but I was posh & used turtle wax - it doesn't feel like that long ago but I am nearly an antique - your channel has bought me up to date & told me all I need to know plus you have shown what can be done on a budget acknowledging that the cheapest is often not really the cheapest, thanks I have subscribed & am enjoying your videos
welcome dave
Really good, (no bollocks) video. I've tried and wasn't impressed with the Autoglym instant tyre dressing, I'll try the tyre gel next time, thanks.
Been thinking about different tyre shines etc.
Excellent, nice line up on the tyre products. 👍🏻
Yer both slimey to use Jawad. The satin is less greasy
Loved this! Found your channel on a TH-cam sesh.. amazing work, sound guy. Thanks 😊
Welcome Leighton thank you m8
Happy with the outcome because I bought some autoglym before Christmas from good old Halfords lol.
Try mixing Endurance with another Meguair’s product named ‘Hot Wheels’ it makes application so much easier and it has great ‘endurance’ too👍🏻
Great review. Not too much nonsens and time wasting in the video. To the point
Hi Jon have you thought about reviewing best car undercoating? Such as ACF50 and cavity wax brands etc
Ive not really thought about this ive got a few more like converntional ones to tick off first then can defietly have a think about htis.
Love the avg P/L info!! Great addition to your videos.
Maguiars ultimate tyre shine it’s in an aerosol spray can, great shine lasts ages
No need for pearl but would liked to see tac system tire coat. Nice testing as always!
I would not have thought of autoglym, thanks Jon. When the megs has run out I'll get some.
Try mixing Endurance with another Meguair’s product named ‘Hot Wheels’ it makes application so much easier and it has great ‘endurance’ too👍🏻
Meguiar's Hyper Dressing is great also! Can be diluted, water based, usually get about 3-4 weeks and thats in Florida (rainy)
That Tyson tire is cracking stuff I used it before really impressed. A little pricey but the performance makes it worthwhile
Do you have a link pls
One i personally really like is Angelwax Elixir, both the regular one and the Enigma one, both give a fantastic look and durability!
Everybody wants a shiny tyre
@@SuperNovaHeights_.... No we don't
@@petersmith7126 hell yeah
A guy I used to work with swore by shoe polish. I have never tried it so can't say myself but he was adamant it was by far the best thing to use.
I agree,I use autoglym it is good,I’ve also tried meguiars endurance,it looks good, but like you say it attracts dirt and dust,I like the autoglym because it dries, well done, good video and tests.👍
I carried through a whole bunch of stupid adds today. That's how much I love you Jon ! 😅
this comment prompted me to check.
Ez car care revolution is actually really really good ! Can pick 5l up for £20
Lovely Jubbly video, my favourite from all of them has to Autofinesse
I've used tyre products before where you get a different finish on different tyres so you really need to find a product that suits your own tyre imo still interesting though
Jon, I used to use both AutoGlym and Meguiars for my shows but has you mentioned never dries and got very dirty jeans a few times by touching the tyre whilst polishing. I have been very impressed with my Gtechniq T1 which i use now.
Great video again John, thank you. My meguiars endurance bottle exploded recently. Thought I’d pick up another bottle from Halfords, but I’ll grab the autoglym while I’m there instead
Still using the Megs tyre shine. Lasts me a long time
Don't like it tho :(
@@dimmacommunication I can understand that.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Will definitely try the Autoglym stuff. I was going to use Carpro Perl, but put off by the lack of longevity.
a very very good video, well structured and all the information
fantastic review, my favorite is Geon's Ceramic dressing. I also like Megs spray which is really easy and its water based i belive.
Looking forward to your findings with Garage Therapy Tyre Serum. I’ve been using since Xmas Eve and it’s going well so far. My go to now.
I recommend Jennychem tyre shine. Lasts for a real time with a wet shiny look. 👌🏼
I really like your vids and appreciate the time you put in so someone like me who s an enthusiast can learn and get honest opinions. I hope you get appreciation from these brands you test as I ve already bought some products based on your review. Thank you. Adrian
Been using CarPro Perl for years but quite fancy trying Gyeon Tire.
