Tanjiro would know that he does not have the space to perform any breathing techniques and he would also know Muzan doesn't care about all those people either. Starting a fight right there would get him and everyone else killed. So no, he still would have been alive to fight Muzan in the infinity castle except it would've been way easy for him to perform the thirteenth form perfectly killing Muzan even quicker than it took

When he fought Kokushibo in his elderly states, he also won with EASE. I mean he didn't win cuz he died of age before finishing off Kokushibo, but I mean he literally wasn't in his peak states and literally scared the fuck out of Kokushibo.
