Hi John. Great video again. Just love your living room lathe. Beautiful cabinet you made for it. Great haul with all those tools. You are so amazing. Take care. 👍👍❤.
Thanks again John for all the knowledge, tips, and great stories!!! As a small token of appreciation, I have a few more really cool items for you that i think you will enjoy. I'll bring them to Zagarys in July, or I can send them to you. My son and I are now spending many hours in the shop thanks to your inspiration. ❤️🇺🇸
You grabbed some very nice items, Scout. The brass hammer looks wonderful with the contrasting polished shaft and black handle. The sign turned out nicely. Amazing what a little Comet can do. 🙂👍
The Comet made me think of all the hours i spent cleaning wide whitewalls with Ajax. I dreaded when my old man would take a car I had just got done detailing; what did he care? HE never had to clean those whitewalls.
Every tool you showed was cool, But I liked the Millers falls Red set the best. You also made me laugh at , "I will take the hammer upstairs and use it for the lathe in my living room" Now thats COOL lol
I do woodworking and since I’ve came across your channel you’ve inspired me to start looking for old tools to try and restore to decorate my shop with! Thanks a million
That's a great haul of tools for very little outlay John, unbelievable value there. The brace is a beauty, but the bars and bolsters are great - very low $ per pound of steel ! I'm amazed by that sign, I actually thought it was Yellow background not cream/off-white ! I'd love to see what you can do with those MF chisels and screwdriver, I'm sure you could make those handles glow red !
Another great video, ScoutCrafter! 👍🏻 The restorations all turned out well. I’m a sucker for small hammers (machinist hammers, gunsmithing hammers, etc.) so the brass hammer was my favorite of the bunch.
This was a great Mosh and the restorations look beautiful. Are going to restore the 2 cylinder hand pump? That would look good with a new coat of black paint on it. Thanks for sharing this.
Like the quarter table finds, right up my alley, great stuff. Two items I never knew existed were the double barrel are pump and the channel lock grips, nice finds. I always look for and treasure miller falls tools, getting pretty hard to find in my area, thanks for the video, appreciated and enjoyed watching.
Too bad I’m in the Midwest, ScoutCrafter. It would be a blast spending a weekend going to one of those shows with you. You’re giving me the fever to get out there and buy some old tools this summer! You are an inspiration, Sir.
DAWN Platinum Powerwash dish spray Is my go to for stuff like that Farmers plate. Great first stop before getting out something that may take paint off. The grease cutting power is nothing to sneeze at. I use it to clean my stove top. Really great for cleaning off years of caked on grim.
As always you've out done yourself with another great episode! The chisels are awesome and those chisels from Miller's Falls are gorgeous. Thanks again and see you on Wednesday
You scored a lot of nice tools in this haul. Some of the Popular Mechanics tools were sold at K-Mart. I have a Popular Mechanics 1/4" drive ratchet and socket set that I bought there. It's been my go-to 1/4" drive set for 20+ years. It's withstood a LOT of use (and occasional abuse) and still feels almost as good as my SK and Snap-On 1/4" ratchets.
I love the brass hammer. Looks better than new. The sign is transformed. Wow. The chisel may have someones name on it, with surname PAINE. The Stanley chisel looks terrific. Nice haul from Zagray. I had not seen the Channel Lock version of vise grips. Very interesting. Dave.
Yes the wrench is for installing fire sprinkler heads. According to Fire Code you are only suppose to install heads with the manufacturer designed wrench. Never an adjustable wrench. Thanks for the Mosh
Great job John!!! The old tools were really made better back when people took pride in their work!!! Thanks for making the tools proud again!!! The Old Army Scout…
You picked up some interesting tools. It's been decades since x acto made their tools available in the nice fitted wooden boxes. I still have mine. I never knew Channelock made a version of vice grips. Always learning something new here. It looks like one of the blue vinyl end pieces on one of the Channelocks is on upside down. I will speculate that the letters on the masonry chisel is the name of a previous owner.
Keep getting sidetracked, only took me an hour to finish a 15 minute video, had to stop and make a pot of popcorn for a half grown squirrel that's been hanging around and chewing on chicken bones all day........I really like those Millers Falls Chisels!
I was just at Lehman's in Kidron Ohio his weekend and they had brand new brace drills on the shelf for $139.99!!! Seriously! And they handles were plastic!!!!
There was a time some years ago when I pumped up a Farmall "A" tractor tire with foot pump. The compression cylinder was about 6-8 inches long. There was just enough air in the tire when I started to maintain the airtight bead.
11:11 The Grip Locks appear to have a difference in them. Notice the blue piece on the ends. Your restored tool has the piece dip down towards the other handle. The unrestored tool has the blue piece dip up.
Awesome stuff!! I hope to make it to that show one day!! Long trip from Oklahoma! I wonder if that metal craft hammer was a screwdriver someone made into a brass hammer handle. I think it may be!
I see why newer screwdrivers have the flat in line with the corner. It’s thicker corner to corner, makes for less chance of bending it. And because it’s a higher chance of damaging the project, theres a lower chance of using it as a pry bar.
Not than I'm a member of the "Patina Police" but the wooden cladding on the Stanley ratcheting brace is most likely stained or weathered Beech rather than Walnut. They switched from Rosewood to Beech after Rosewood became more expensive to get. If you want to try something interesting, Lee Valley used to sell an adapter that could work with that chuck and featured a 3/8" socket driver. You'd be surprised at the amount of torque you get from these braces!
Hello again Scout, I have a question for you. How big is your house ? I mean how can you store so many tools in that place, because if you don't resell them except the ones you give to friends. And the occasional give away's to subscribers, you must have 1000+ tools. I'm watching you for five years, so in this time you have restored tons of item's. You have a magical storage attic or something ? 🤷🏻♂️🤔
@@ScoutCrafter Yes I guess that's good for this hobby/passion, because if you had a wife and not a girlfriend you surtanly would sleep in the back yard. 😉😆
Is there a reason, especially on some of the steel tools that would rust, not to spray them with some sort of shellac or clear coat? I know you wouldn't want to get any of that into the grooves on the end of a screwdriver, and you wouldn't want any of that inside the inner workings of a set of vice grips, but on something like the shaft of that brass hammer a clear acrylic might protect it from rust and keep it shining
Absolutely- My home is climate controlled and low humidity so rust isn’t an issue but if these were going in the garage they would have to have a protective clear coat of something. 😃👍
What search terms does one use in google to find these kinds of tool meetups you go to, except i’m looking for in Minnesota? Or is there some directory?
As much as I really enjoytcall your restorations, you SHOULD HAVE left the Armed Forces sign as it. I truly think it looked much better as found. Just this man's opinion of course.
Your brick chisel was made by the B. O. Paine Co. of Millbury, MA.
Thanks Rick!!!
Hi John. Great video again. Just love your living room lathe. Beautiful cabinet you made for it. Great haul with all those tools. You are so amazing. Take care. 👍👍❤.
@@ScoutCrafter Glad to be of help.
I'm always amazed at how cheap the prices are. Beautiful restorations. Thank you.
Thanks again John for all the knowledge, tips, and great stories!!! As a small token of appreciation, I have a few more really cool items for you that i think you will enjoy. Hi Scott- I hope to see you at Zagray in July! One thing it gets HOT! 😂😂😂😂
You grabbed some very nice items, Scout. The brass hammer looks wonderful with the contrasting polished shaft and black handle. The sign turned out nicely. Amazing what a little Comet can do. 🙂👍
All your restorations came out great. The double tube air pump would be a fun one to clean up.
Never saw a two cylinder hand pump. Very interesting and only a dollar! Some really nice stuff and thanks for showing us.
The Comet made me think of all the hours i spent cleaning wide whitewalls with Ajax. I dreaded when my old man would take a car I had just got done detailing; what did he care? HE never had to clean those whitewalls.
Love those chisel handles! Thank you for sharing, especially for those of us not able to attend the show!
Every tool you showed was cool, But I liked the Millers falls Red set the best. You also made me laugh at , "I will take the hammer upstairs and use it for the lathe in my living room" Now thats COOL lol
Dardrum This is the lathe I was talking about! th-cam.com/video/_BtYctonMTQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I00ltNNwBCLJmOuZ
@@ScoutCrafter Yes, I remember that video now, great mini lathe, glad we got to revisit the vid.
Nice restorations, love to see the vise grip pliers redone
wow i thought that license plate was actually yellow. Never expected it would be white.
I enjoy cleaning up old sign.. ca.e out nice!
I do woodworking and since I’ve came across your channel you’ve inspired me to start looking for old tools to try and restore to decorate my shop with! Thanks a million
This hobby is so rewarding and enjoyable. I’m so glad you have joined in on the fun! 😃👍
John, seeing the crowbars you got at Zagray reminds me of this: Before crowbars were invented, crows had to drink at home! 😅
One dollar for that sweet old pump! What!?! Man your celebrity is really paying off! 👍😂👍😎😉
Little red on the facets of that chisel would kill, l actually thought the license plate was a kinda of “traffic light” yellow/gold color… woof
Great job my friend. Have used many of your techniques with restoration of a gunsmith project. Thank you for inspiration. Stay safe
Well done restorations and thanks for taking me along on Zagrays
Cool Stuff that you showed today , Thanks for sharing .👏
The sign was a surprise, I thought it was yellow.
Me too!

The little brass hammer looks great now 🔨👍😊
That quartzoid wrench is for installing fire sprinkler heads I used it many times

This was a great Mosh and the restorations look beautiful. Are going to restore the 2 cylinder hand pump? That would look good with a new coat of black paint on it. Thanks for sharing this.
John- I was looking to see how the tube comes off the base, the single pumps screw off but this one looks different. 🤔😃👍
Great stuff! That sign looks so different after cleaning. That air pump has to be a next restoration.
Lathe in the living room? Great idea!! I'll be doing the same after checking with my wife.
Frank- this is it! th-cam.com/video/_BtYctonMTQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mj21NbjPdBmqV4cP

Great video Jon really enjoyed that the chisel is fantastic. Never seen anything like it great restoration on the hammer as well, buddy.

dawn dish soap cleans great yet is gentle
I can only imagine what I could do with $5 at the show 🧐 Nice haul and look forward to the restorations.

Wow, some terrific finds. I say finds because I know you don’t buy tools anymore.😂
Well you've been busy! I don't know how you get it all done!
Stanley and Millers Falls , my 2 favorites. Beautiful tools.
Great stuff, as always. Ned's son looks like he could play for the Jets!

B.O.Paine out of Millsbury Mass. they made tools! 😃👍
That screwdriver handle style is called a, trilobe.
Yup, another great Mosh-up show. that brass hammer turned out great.
Such great stuff! I love those chisels.
You brought home some cool stuff!
B.O. Paine
Most of the dirt on the plate was nicotine I'll bet. A little dip in TSP in water would whiten it instantly. Great video as usual!
If that plate was hanging in a VFW or American Legion then it probably was thirty years of nicotine! 😂👍
Some serious deals at Zagrays. So many nice tools for a quarter.
Another great tool haul show and tell but a screwdriver shouldn't be used as a pry bar 😊
The sign came out great.

I saw the new brace drills they seem flimsy compared to the originals. Great store!

Great job on the stanley cold chisel 👍👍👍
That was action packed video.
Awesome stuff!! I hope to make it to that show one day!! Long trip from Oklahoma! I wonder if that metal craft hammer was a screwdriver someone made into a brass hammer handle. I think it may be!
Did a serviceman use that sign for target practice before you acquired it?
I see why newer screwdrivers have the flat in line with the corner. It’s thicker corner to corner, makes for less chance of bending it. And because it’s a higher chance of damaging the project, theres a lower chance of using it as a pry bar.
Screwdrivers are not pry bars. What's wrong with these savages?

Do you ever get up to the big Eliot show in southern Maine? That's coming up in July.

Really soon! It’s in my living room! 😂😂😂
BOOM 😂😂😂😂😂
Gotcha
What search terms does one use in google to find these kinds of tool meetups you go to, except i’m looking for in Minnesota? Or is there some directory?
Search google for tractor show near me, or Antique machinery show near me…
James from Wood by Wright has a pretty good list on his homepage.
So what types of shows are those? I’d love to find some around Michigan.
Usually antique tractor or steam engine shows. 😃👍
