      I'm using a Pebble Time Steel.
      The charging cable just broke and I was looking for options for a new smartwatch.
      I got a new cable and my Pebble is alive again but now I'm really interested on the Fossil Gen 6. But I'm not sure about it...

    I have the Fossil Gen 6 wellness. Overall it's a pretty good watch. Battery life is fair but recharging is a quick 30 mins. Yes my wrist used to shut off my watch accidentally hitting the middle crown but there is an easy fix to that. Just put the crowns on the other side facing your arm and change watch orientation. Now it works perfectly!

    You're in luck. With the Wear OS 3 update that was pushed today, they've introduced the 'lefty mode' which solves one of your two problems. The other problem wrt Google wallet - we'll have to wait for the next gen since it sounds like a hardware problem based on your comments.
    Nevertheless, subscribing! Will be looking forward to your video on Wear OS 3 on the fossil gen 6. It'll be nice if you give it a couple of days before reviewing the wear OS 3 update since it probably will be updating and doing a lot of stuff on the background on day 1.

      Waiting for that review before I return my pix watch for the Fossil gen 6. Found gen 6 way better

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gen 6 so far has been significantly better for the price, with almost exactly the same performance as the pixel watch. Unfortunately updating to the new Wear OS3 on the fossil watch has completely ruined it, none of the original features work. Hopefully there will be an update in the next day or two to remedy this, but so far it is deeply disappointing

    Hi
    Can you tell your experience with the battery life of this watch? I have read alot of neagtive reviews about the battery of gen 6

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's typically been an all-day watch for me. The GPS is very power hungry if you use it to track workouts, otherwise the battery life has been comparable to most smart phones

  • @nelsonorellana
    @nelsonorellana 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you run into any quality control issues? That some people have been seeing with these watches? For example needing to reset, or power button ceasing?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is one of the consumer models, not one of the #teampixel releases. I've found no quality control issues so far. There was an update pending as soon as I turned it on which I assume fixed a lot of issues that others may have experienced.

    Hey I noticed you had the pixel watch too. I also pre ordered the watch and got it two days ago but I am not impressed with it. The bezels, the battery, the Fitbit app for everything. I feel like Fossil gen 6 is better for the same price. What would you say should I return the pixel watch and get the gen 6?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yesterday I would have told you to return the pixel watch and keep the fossil watch, but I just updated my fossil gen 6 to the new Android Wear 3.0 and it is missing so many features. If you can avoid updating the fossil watch until they've worked the bugs out. That is a better watch for the money, but a pixel watch seems to be the best Android wear 3.0 watch of the two of them

      I had the ticwatch since July '21. Wore it everyday, everywhere I went, but the last month it started playing up - battery only lasting 2/3s of the day, recharging to full in 20 minutes, then I went snorkelling for 45 minutes or so, but only on the surface and after that it went blank, wouldn't restart, got quite hot when charging. After 3 or 4 days it came back to life, but the sensors weren't working. Sent it back to seller and they have agreed to provide full refund. Liked the ticwatch - did everything I wanted and was fast/responsive and batt life WAS good. Looking for an alternative that can handle more than a 'splash while washing my hands' kinda thing.

    Is it true that a smartphone and a fossil gen 6 don't need to be kept together at all times and can still connect even when the phone is left at home? I have really heard a youtuber say something similar to this.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't have the LTE version of a watch, it won't have cell service. The Gen 6 smartwatch does connect to WiFi so the range is slightly longer than Bluetooth alone, but you're going to need a watch with cellular connection to leave your phone at home

    I'm done with smartwatches. tired of paying $300+ dollars for something that only last for 3 years or less.
    they day they make them with easily replaceable batteries is they day I'll go back to them... or they can reduce the price to $100 being disposable tech.
