- In this video I take my camper van to the Peak District to enjoy some alone time with the camera. I wake up to beautiful mist and venture to a nearby woodland to take advantage of the conditions. Oh, and I am also using a Nikon D850... you know, just to see what all the fuss is about.

When the day is finished in work I like to watch your videos as they help with calming me down. The way you present yourself and piece together your videos is peaceful. It makes me want to slow down. Your videos have helped me think differently about photography to just slow down and take in what is around you and just let it happen. Love this video.
I hope you have a good excuse to explain to your Canon what you were doing in a van with new interior lights and a Nikon
With your talk about the relief you feel getting that first shot, I hope you don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get a great shot every time you’re out. Goodness knows your faithful viewers don’t - and I hope you don’t hold yourself up to unachievable standards just for us. Love your process, approach, attitude and view on life and photography. Keep up the great work.

The calmness you show in such situations when you find a nice composition and don't hurry into taking a shot is really commendable. And that combined with the backstory and soft music makes your videos a treat to watch!
Other than the different hat and the different camera, it’s the same Thomas Heaton that drew my attention initially. Quiet, introspective and damn creative. The first image is money. Well done!

That first picture @6:50 is just phenomenal. A simple, yet powerful composition. This is what keeps me coming back here again and again.
Your ability to pull something out of very little always astounds me.
WHY? Does everybody make it about the camera? It's not about the camera. Nobody will look at an image and say "oh, that was shot with a Nikon/Canon/Sony/Fuji." It does have EVERYTHING to do with the photography and the photographer. Well done Tom.
As a heavily invested Canon shooter I do not feel betrayed that Tom is using different gear. Use the best gear that you can regardless of the name on the plate. Thank you Tom for not making it about the camera.

Excellent camera choice. I love my D850. Dynamic range on that model is great. Especially for images like that.

Thank You, for sharing a video on photography in these conditions! I'm here in Washington State on the coast and it is these identical conditions most of the Winter! Hard to get motivated when its overcast and cloudy, yet this video has inspired me to get out there and capture the beauty that's all around me even when there's no light! Cold, misty, foggy,--- Perfect!!! Thank you for that ;)

Thomas, this is when you are at your best. Simple location, simple compositions and beautiful conditions. As an amateur who can’t fly to exotic locations, I got real inspiration from this.
I knew I spotted that d850!!!! Beautiful set of images Tom, as usual.
I saw a comment in the last video that someone spotted a Nikon D850 but I couldn't see it much less actually believed it was true. It wasn't until I saw that the zoom lens wasn't his usual Canon L 70-200 f/4 and the circular eyepiece that it was actually a Nikon. Hmm I wonder if Tom will be testing out the Z7 later. Well. 2019 is going to be A BLAST!!!. As usual thanks for sharing Tom.
KreygScott haha I was 95% sure, just because I own one haha and noticed the red ring on the body. I don’t see him trying out the z7, simply because he made a comment about only 1 card slot on the EOS R. But who knows!!!

@@PereaPhotography Yeah I'm thinking he's gonna give it a try. Knowing Tom he's gonna want to try something with a bit less weight and offering great image quality. I am curious to hear his thoughts on Nikon's new lens mount and whether he'll be adapting or changing his lenses. But like you said, "Who knows!!!" We'll just have to wait and see the Tom's Photographic Saga unfold. LOL

This video is proof that the gear doesn’t matter. A skilled photographer can get a great shot no matter what hat he or she wears!

“Dense birch woodland”, that is by far the mast sparsely spaced woodlands I have seen.

D850 is king! You’ll never get rid of it. Word of warning though, the dynamic range is so good the the raw files will much more dull than you are probably used to

I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm a photography enthusiast and I really like landscape photography. I do lots of off-road expeditions in Africa and one of my favourite things to do on those trips is to stop when the landscape is really beautiful, open a beer, enjoy the view for a while and think of a good way to capture what I'm seeing.

Good choice of hat. Probably the best hat ever if you like larger hats.
Spotted the new hat can’t get anything past me 😂. Was out shooting trees myself in Lyme Park in those conditions the other day was happy with what I got but still a way behind you loved the last image, stunning!! You really should come and shoot in the Peak District more it’s an amazing place with so many great locations. Look forward to the next video!
