Fill the iron with water: If your iron has a water tank for steaming, fill it with clean water. Make sure not to overfill it, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Heat up the iron: Plug in the iron and set it to the appropriate temperature for the fabric. Allow the iron to heat up.
Prepare the shirt: Button up the shirt and turn it inside out. This helps in ironing around buttons and prevents shiny spots on the fabric.
