If parents are not capable of giving you that unconditional love, it will always fuck with your brain. I don't get why anybody critisizes the art school commentary when this story itself clearly shows why they wouldn't want to encourage it. Amazing artists are a dime a dozen, so unless you have connections you can't rely on making it big. And for her she spent several years not making enough. And who did she expect to feed and house her until her art career could either take off or flop? Y'all have no business sticking your nose up at people who are trying to be practical and raise self sufficient children, instead of wondering what the artist kid is gonna do after the parents die.

Some parents are just evil. Of them, some have no idea they have spent 18-23 years trying to rob you and destroy everything that combines to make you. Much of this story has parents acting like this. The one take away is that everyone has a chance of redemption. Will cover other negative parental types - some worse and I believe are extremely evil.

One question keeps going through my head, making me think that this is fake.... how did OPs sister know where she lived? If i had a family that treated me like this, i would never let them know where i moved... and also, if op told them, i doubt they would care, so it seems illogical that she would tell them.
"she said they felt betrayed and didn't know what to do" Aha, you mean like how the parents betrayed OP? seems about right They should get ripped apart for the BS they pulled over the years I mean come on, the parents literally gave 0 shits about OP until the golden child failed, then _suddenly_ OP was somehow good enough What BS man, yikes
I wish the parents werent jerks about it but they arent wrong about art prospects and jobs. As an artist, I dual as a CIS major with art as a major hobby. I can use it for design and games, and I write manga in my free time. Finished my first book, just need to touch up. You can be an artist without going to school, its oveely expensive and a scam for art lovers, they prey on artists financially. History can be found online and learning art is all about practice. Its a subjective craft based on theory and very little objectivity. School only indoctrinates when it comes to art. Learning fundamentals takes some trusted video lessons. You should only go to school if you need more in person lessons like physical painting, charcoal, etc. Everything is digital now, so its best to learn on your own and study using the internet. Its not like math or science where its incredibly objective and a degree is everything for work. Art degrees dont change many minds in the art world. Just show you have a good portfolio and some personal projects and put yourself out there with a decent back up plan
The parents aren't interested. They just realized they wouldn't be able to survive off the other daughter when they got older, so they switched to you. THAT BEING SAID I'll take Things that didn't happen for 2000 Alex.

OP's parents are the a**holes here. They loved their golden child until they didn't. Then they dumped her and ran back to OP. Fairweather parents who don't deserve kids.
This sounds Asian to me. I know quite a few Asian families with the parents mentality. Probably not the only ethnic group that has this mentality. Oddly my dad used to tell the youngest of us, 6 kids, that she didnt need to work hard because the rest of us will look after her. I dont know why he thinks this.
It's not your fault it's your parents fault because they favored their Golden child over her and they called her a disappointment and they paid for her Golden child apartment instead of her other daughter and that's not right and they should pay for their actions and go to hell for what they have done to her and if you guys can't see that then you guys are delusional and they don't deserve anything for favoritism and calling her a disappointment.
She wants the same pride from her parents it’s like a 5 years olds that put a leg up and say look mummy. It doesn’t matter that you have the same parents a human will always look up to a doctor and a lawyer and never in the same way they look to a cleaning lady 😅

THis is very likely ai. I was on the fence before, but "this experience has taught me" followed by the inspirational speech is definitely something mny ai made stories incorporate-
The AI voice overs are getting better.👍
Just say: “I don’t know, why aren’t I as ‘GOOD’ as Emma?”
Yea I don't think Emma was ever under any pressure...
She really felt sorry for Emma like a dumb dumb.😊
Listen to what she says at the end of the update. I lived my life in a frenzy, trying hard to get my parents’ approval and to a great degree it was pointless.
This sounds like a dhar Mann vid ngl 😭
OP’s parents only give af about her life now because Emma is on BS. If Emma didn’t get fired they wouldn’t have reached out. They don’t actually care.
Some parents are just evil. Of them, some have no idea they have spent 18-23 years trying to rob you and destroy everything that combines to make you. Much of this story has parents acting like this. The one take away is that everyone has a chance of redemption.
Will cover other negative parental types - some worse and I believe are extremely evil.
life is truly unpredictable
ay, if the person who originally posted the story sees this comment, coming from someone who doesnt like art, AINT NOTHIN WRONG WITH PURSUING YOUR FRICKIN DREAM
One question keeps going through my head, making me think that this is fake.... how did OPs sister know where she lived?
If i had a family that treated me like this, i would never let them know where i moved... and also, if op told them, i doubt they would care, so it seems illogical that she would tell them.
"she said they felt betrayed and didn't know what to do"
Aha, you mean like how the parents betrayed OP? seems about right
They should get ripped apart for the BS they pulled over the years
I mean come on, the parents literally gave 0 shits about OP until the golden child failed, then _suddenly_ OP was somehow good enough
What BS man, yikes
THAT BEING SAID
I'll take Things that didn't happen for 2000 Alex.
I wonder who this artist is, I’m interested to see their work
Emma works in a law firm. She can afford her own apartment
This feels awkward, because I’m the eldest child of my siblings and my names Emma… 😬
Are you a lawyer too?
6:12 and 6:52 forget the stories for a minute the background video of my hometown on the west coast of ireland wtaf that woke me up royally
This is SO AI generated it's not even funny anymore!
Down vote
So the sister is a Thief/Mocher, what a shame for a lawyer to act like that
I would have blocked all of them and cut my losses.
Took OP finally having enough of parents and sister to get up and self motivate towards independence and self confidence. I feel for OP’s struggle, but they sound like a scrub, and only got motivated to spite their family.
Oh god…they didn’t write a Reddit post, they wrote a story…
AI voice pauses in all the wrong places, but good story.
One graphic designer can make milion bro op parents are shit..
OP's parents are the a**holes here. They loved their golden child until they didn't. Then they dumped her and ran back to OP. Fairweather parents who don't deserve kids.
The black sheep of the zenin clan fushigoru toji😂😂
This sounds Asian to me. I know quite a few Asian families with the parents mentality. Probably not the only ethnic group that has this mentality.
Oddly my dad used to tell the youngest of us, 6 kids, that she didnt need to work hard because the rest of us will look after her. I dont know why he thinks this.
As a logical asian, why no A? You expect me to throw a party for a simple B???? B = bad dont ya know?
It's not your fault it's your parents fault because they favored their Golden child over her and they called her a disappointment and they paid for her Golden child apartment instead of her other daughter and that's not right and they should pay for their actions and go to hell for what they have done to her and if you guys can't see that then you guys are delusional and they don't deserve anything for favoritism and calling her a disappointment.
Had to watch this shit in 2x cause it was so slow
Amazing how the golden children end up losers
Women always think their sibling are the golden child
Girl don’t be shy what’s the book called
Good for her in making it through but parents worry for a reason, art line jas terrible job security.
It’s a fake story guys lol it’s not reality. Who ever wrote this is a good writer
Yappichino in the last 2 mins
She wants the same pride from her parents it’s like a 5 years olds that put a leg up and say look mummy. It doesn’t matter that you have the same parents a human will always look up to a doctor and a lawyer and never in the same way they look to a cleaning lady 😅
