Im proud of how OP handled the situation. She set boundaries but was open to forgiveness. This could all have gone a completely different direction, and im glad she was willing to forgive and move towards progress. Forgiveness is a step to healing, and im glad she took that step. For everyone saying she should have just blocked them and moved on. No. That's not how things work. Sometimes things are difficult, and sometimes it's better to cut someone off. But if OP did that here, then she would be no better than her parents. Yes, her mom wasn't the best and was after money, but she did end up saying that she was sorry and didn't care about the will anymore. My best friend has a conplex family dynamic as well. I won't go too deep into it, but her mother isn't in the picture, and her father was an addict. Her older sister left, and this put a lot of pressure on her, so she ran away and came to live with my family. We didn't know about the running away part until later on. My parents helped her when it came to telling her father where she was and clearing things up. She still lives with us, but her father moved closer to us to be closer to her. Despite their difficult past, she alwas greets her father and siblings with a smile. She often goes to spend time with them, and their relationship has improved. Her father has also gone into rehab and is doing better. She could have cut off her family and forgotten about them, but she chose to forgive them and is happier than I've ever seen her despite what shes been through. We should always try to forgive those who wrong us, even if the situation is extremely complex. This is known from other personal experiences. If we walk around with grudges, it's like we are still in that situation. We dont move on and keep ourselves there. Forgiveness is the best way to move on. We shouldn't live in the past. OP's mom is trying, and i can see it there. So is her sister. They know things are complicated, but life shouldn't be about that complexity, but how we chose to move on. In some situations, it's best to cut that person off, i have experience with this, and it wasn't pleasant. But this isn't one of those situations.

I watched KallmeKris and she told this story. I have 2 theories 1. They were being followed, and the person following them told them to drive down the mountain and stay in a cabin, where they were watched till they died. 2. They saw that they were being followed, and one of them forced the driver to drive to the mountain to see if they were being followed, they hid in the cabin and didn't light anything, because it might lead that person to them, they probably thought not to eat a lot, because they might be stuck in there for a long time.
