Chengdu to Chongqing - Driving in China's two major western megacities

Driving from Chengdu to Chongqing, China on the National Expressway G5013.
Chongqing-Chengdu Expressway, also known as Yu-Rong Expressway, alias "Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway Complex Line", is the third expressway connecting Chongqing and Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and is one of the links between Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway (National Expressway G50) in China's national expressway network.
Chongqing-Chengdu Expressway starts from Chenjiaqiao Street, Shapingba District, Chongqing in the east, passes through the G5001 Chongqing Ring Expressway, connects Chongqing Bishan District, Tongliang District and Dazu District, connects to the Yuchuan border, enters Anyue County, Lezhi County, Chengdu Jianyang City, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province, and Chengdu Ring Expressway in the west.
The Chongqing-Chengdu Expressway has six lanes in both directions (excluding emergency lanes), with a total length of 253.56 kilometers. Among them, the Chongqing section is 78.56 kilometers, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, which started construction in 2010 and was officially opened to traffic on December 25, 2013. The Sichuan section of 175 kilometers and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour started construction in 2009, and on December 30, 2016, the section from the Second Ring Expressway to the provincial border in Chengdu was put into trial. On September 30, 2017, the Yurong Expressway completed the construction of the key project of the Chengdu section and opened to traffic on the whole line.
