Wyoming is my comfort state
I’m from New Jersey, and in elementary school in the 1990s we had an assignment to learn the internet. Go to the website of the state you were assigned, and find basic information like exports, population, governor etc.
I was assigned West Virginia, which was literally one single landing page with a picture of th governor and no other information. So my teacher sent me to the library where I had to find an encyclopedia and look up all that nonsense about West Virginia.
I held an irrational grudge against WV for like two whole decades until becoming a fan of the McElroys, and Adventure Zone Amnesty specifically, eased that long held hatred.
Today, these representatives of West Virginia have reignited my rage. New Jersey is one of the most recognizable state shapes! It’s got a waistline!

At the risk of invoking your ire, I didn't get that one either. I could pull like 40 states if they were blank on a map, but blown up like that is tricky.
I didn't know about Vermont's Scorpion tail either.
i know it wont ever change but every week i hope that miggy wont choke on the jar of pens and it breaks my heart every time he does
I like how Griffin is like "Charizard isn't a dragon is 'the bit'" but he's actually really mad and won't give it up because he knows he's right.

Very specific bonus for me: my dog is for some reason SET OFF by the usual wrong answer buzzer. Full barking fit. Your gentle little bell kept me from frantically having to mute wrong answers. 😊
Meanwhile I unfortunately used "no dogs on the moon" as my 'time to feed dogs' alarm for years so my dog jumps up every time it comes on before the stream begins 😂
My dog loses her mind over the doorbell, but specifically just Frasier's doorbell. When I first started watching fraiser I was so confused cause I got her a puppy and I've never lived anywhere with a doorbell!

Unless you memorize the exact short to long side ratio, Colorado and Wyoming are impossible to distinguish in isolation. Side by side one (CO(?)) is slightly wider but that is an impossible difference.
The state quiz is actually really hard without size and location context.
What's wild is that Miggy doesn't suffocate when out of the water but he can choke on a cup of pens.

We now have Charizard (not a Dragon-type) and Smaug (a Fire-Drake; not a dragon) on the list.

I am delighted to see this VOD. One of my favorite things to do as a get to know you thing is to ask people to name all 50 states and spoiler alert maybe 5% of the people I've asked have been able to do it. Everyone is sooooo confident that they know the song from elementary school. They, in fact, do not.
The animaniacs taught me all 50 state capitols, and by extension all 50 states. I don't think I could list them without their capitols though, as I only know the facts in the cadence of the song. 😄
Genuine question, does this work well as a get to know you?? What else do you learn except how many states they know?
@@bethanyhill5715 Yeah, it works great. Any type of game tends to loosen people up, there's no stakes to getting it wrong (especially since I always mention that it's very rare that someone knows them all), and once they get to a place where they can't think of more, I offer little clues about the ones they have left so we both get to know each other in that process too.
i could prolly do pretty good with a full map with surrounding states and geographic and size contexts but this game where it's just the state's shape in isolation is so weird and difficult for all the vague rectangle and tiny states.

Yknow here I was thinking "this intro is fun but it's a little childish" and then someone died so jokes on me I guess

It would be a dishonor to Miggy’s sacrifice not to watch. He gave his life and now we watch to remember him. Our emotional pain at his repeated passing is but a shadow of the pain he feels in the throes of death every week

ACKSHUALLY, in the picture of Smauuuug shown, he is a Wyvern, not a Dragon. Because his wings are connected to his arms and not a separate limb.

It's nice to know that apparently when I claim I could name every state I am being a lot more honest than a lot of people who claim that. I heard them claim that on the podcast and I was like, "try me bitch" and I laughed to tears watching them err on the side of Wyoming every fucking round.
