  • Right now we are in the end of july and the weather is changing all the time, we have heavy rainfall but also nice summerday's.
It is a rough climate here on the island and almost never stabile.
When the sun breaks through the clouds in the evening it colours the mountains in beutiful colours in combanation with the fog hanging between the mountain peaks.
I feel a lot of appreciation to have all these things around me
The last weeks we've been prepairing already for the harsh winter wich will come. We are collecting and drying all the wood, picking a lot of cloud berries and I dried my own thee.
In the meanwhile we are working hard on the renovation of our old Norwegian farm house!
With this video I hope to share a little bit of the beauty of Northern Norway with you.
Thank you so much for watching and let me know what you feel!

Great video :) I really like to watch them, and the ones I have seen so far is very calming and beautiful, so thanks :) I grew up in north Norway from 3 years old to 24. Now it seems you are preparing for your first experience with a winter in the north. This is a special time of year so far north, and it will be dark for a long time. In that regard I would like to tell you about my experience about how to handle it. There are many people in the north that experience depression in the winter, especially people who are not used to it. For me the trick to stay happy in positive in the winter months is to slow everything down. You will have less energy, do don't try to live like you have a lot of energy. There are some therapies if you want to live at a faster pace, most popular is bright light treatment, where you sit for a while in front of big bright light screens for a while every day that emits full spectrum bright light. But for traditional lifestyle, just expect that life will be slow, and only necessary things will be done. Anything else is a bonus. It's a bit like a marathon, so pace yourself to preserve energy until the sun comes back. Just a little bit of advice from somebody who have lived where you are, so I write this advice also for others who watch your videos and wants to try the same type of adventure. For me it was always important to visit friends in the winter, just to hang out and make food together and play cards or boardgames. You also have the northern lights to look forward to :)

What I find unique but hilareous is that my great great gramps came from Norway to live in the Caribbean and his land were he resided has a named after Norway.
And now soo many generations later I would like to live in Norway. I hear the call.

Hey! Nice video! Beautiful mountains! Renovating a house is hard but nice work. White is a good color for the wall.

Great video, thank you for sharing it!!! I'm Norwegian (Rodvik is my maiden name), and though my family came to the US in the late 1800's on my dad's side, and the 1960's on my mom's side, I have always, always, always wanted to learn more about Norway, especially about how to live in Norway, which practices are best and all. Your video is very informative and I really appreciate it!!

Very nice. We have cloud berries in Alaska too, along with lowbush cranberries and blueberries. Wild strawberries too among others. I suppose they grow all across the north, just as much of the sea life and bird species are quite similar, especially seabirds. So is the vegetation and island geographies, especially out on the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands where I spent many years commercial fishing. My family emigrated to Alaska from near Kristiansund at the turn of the 20th century.
Thank you for this lovely video.

So special that it is so similar! Until so far i couldn't find any blueberry. I'm glad that you are living in a beautiful environment like I do. The further North you come ofcourse you have more changeling climate but as i can see also much more freedom and the possibility to live close to nature. Every place have is beutty. Interesting that you also have norwegian roots, maybe you will visit Norway one day! You are welcome to say hello and visit us if you like :)
Have a nice day!! Hello from Andøya
