NOTE TO AUSTRALIAN VIEWERS....the Oz (4 cyl) Camry is a little different. You do NOT need to remove the engine mount as setup is a bit different (on the left side, at least). You can get to the two bolts easily. The rear bush bolt looks fussy but the top nut is actually on a retaining plate so does not need to be held in order to undo the bolt through the bush. Some smart re-design for the Oz built Camrys!!

In a garage without a lift, I just find it easier to take off the knuckle completely. The old arm slides our easily and the new back in as well. I use the ones that come with a new ball joint and then I set the knuckle onto the new ball joint, hook it to the strut, and everything else goes back in just as easily.

The music is too loud and then can't hear you very well. Very good video though, you helped me do this on my Camry this afternoon. Thanks a bunch. Can you give the torque values of the bolts above? I did them to the TAS spec. By the way, that lower ball joint is a pesky little one. I didn't do those because I didn't have time to remove the bearing and hammer out the stem. Nothin' is easy.

In another video that I watched for this job the mechanic said it was necessary to remove the dog bone on top of the engine to allow engine to lift up when it is jacked up. Did you remove the dog bone?

Great, Similar to Tarago 00-06,(Aussie 8seat minibus) same engine mount in way problem.
I was thinking, loosen front bolt (split ring spanner) remove rest & pivot arm around & use bolt puller to replace bush, would that work instead of lifting motor & removing engine mount? maybe front bolt TOO Tight?

good video bud, although i wish you would have provided the torques specs for the job since im doing it myself but it was good in instruction to show the process very concise. I like that so i give it a thumbs up
I never use tq specs. There is a feel you need to learn when something is tight but not so tight it will snap.

Actually seems much easier than what the service manual says, the only thing i like about the mitchell 1 manual is that it has an exploded diagram

Is this a V6 engine? My mechanic told me with a V6 that he would have to take the engine and transmission out to install new arms.

Yes and, use 2 arms and tighten them tight.
The ball joints on the hub are blown- you can see how easily they move. They need to be replaced.

it looked like you put the block of wood up against the tranny or oil pan to lift it. is that what you did?

@@FatGuyBuilds Hi, in our Haynes Repair Manual, it says that 2004 and over you'll need to take the mount off but I believe you said you were working on a 2002 and the mount was taken off so I'm not sure if Haynes is right.
@@chizziron I would say, just look at the bolts and see if you can get to them without removing the mount. but i am 99% sure 2002-2006 are all identical.

That ball joint looked toast also. Makes no sense to change entire control arm and not change ball joints as well
