I finally got XCOM 2 yesterday. I had to defend the Avenger in the very early stages of the game, before you even have the option to build the defense matrix. The first dark event completed in the whole game was the UFO one. I didn't have an opportunity to counter it. The Avenger was shot down shortly after. My soldiers ran out to defend the Avenger with most basic armor, and I had literally just researched the new weapons, and didn't have enough supplies to get them out to every class. We held the line. 23/27 aliens killed. 4 XCOM soldiers wounded. 1 XCOM Soilder killed. Lieutenant Taylor "Serial" will always be remembered and honored for her sacrifice.
And then we've got the Class mods (Akimbo, MGR Cyborg, Spartans...), the Power Armor mods, the Unrestricted Customization + Mushashi's RPG overhaul... It was hard at first, but then, even the Exalted custodians fell like flies to a full squad of Spartans, Enclave soldiers, mod-buffed MECs, Ninjas...
This track is the perfect balance of fear and hope. It intimidates the player but also sounds heroic enough in later parts to psyche you up. In a way it represents what the XCOM crew must feel at this point, that if they can't be heroes now, it's all over.
I am no music expert, but it seems like the string section emit a feeling of constant dread while the brass orchestra brings hope in the background with the familiar theme that intermittently overpowers the strings, though the tension never breaks.

Probably one of the most intense gaming missions in a game i've ever had, just trying so hard get it done and listening to this epic music during it and finishing it without any deaths. Mission accomplished! This has to be up there with one of the most satisfying feelings ever in a game. The music in X-Com 2 is amazing!
I feel the exact same way. This was such a long and intense battle when it happened to me. The endless waves of enemies dropping in as my reserves came out one by one to join the battle. Even my wounded soldiers showed up to help. It was especially exciting/terrifying when the only person who was able to make it to the disruptor was a poorly equipped close-combat ranger, and she had to face an entire squad by herself. She managed to take them and the transmitter out, but my god the staggered retreat back to the ship was so intense. Trying to rush everyone back under fire while the SPARKs formed and held the line to give everyone the chance they needed to survive. This battle is just so well designed, and as you said - the music is perfect. The entire soundtrack is incredible.

"Commander, I would have liked to see your world under better circumstances. But failing that, we'll help you take it back from the Ethereals. And won't worry - we're here to hold the line."
“The Resistance is unique in it's type, normally, we hit the aliens where it hurts and then fade away like ghost, it's what makes us a threat. But today we aren't going to do that, today, the aliens will launch everything they got to us, it is their only opportunity to eliminate us, but today, today we will fight until the last of our breath, until the last drop of our blood is out of our body, today, like the XCOM of before... WE HOLD THE LINE!”.
I got an early UFO dark event in one of my very first playthroughs, got a defense mission just after getting magnetic rifles. Imagine my face when the first enemy that comes charging is the Archon King. I'm legitimately surprised no one died, although several was severly injured after a attack and one was unconscious. It was one of few moments i was legitimately terrified in an XCOM mission.
The ship lands and our defence sets up, long range seeking shelter in the presence of the avenger, gunners and rangers moving up setting up position to hold, last person left without a job was a rookie I had hired not a day ago, her job was to go and destroy the jammer as anyone else going would cause an easy breach, so with the rookie having to make careful moves from cover to cover and getting pinned down on occasion until snipers could help her out she managed to make it out to the jammer and destroy it successfully, the enemy smartened up though, they dropped in and set up an overwatch group (never saw them do it before so had no way to predict it) out of range of my soldiers defending and my rookie had only one way she could go with cover, so having to dodge a multitude of shots and getting badly injured in the process (thank god for guardian armour) she got almost to the ship before a new group were dropped in and did the same thing, one group fired on her with all their might but couldn't get her and the others sat and waited for her to run, so she did, with plasma and magnetised rounds flying all around her she managed to make it back on board the avenger and we were able to evac safely, only wounded trooper on the team but by god did she fight
What a damn hero! I love that. The fact that squad members can actually permanently die in this game makes it so much more intense and thrilling when they come out alive.
After a heavy mission, leaving my men wounded in the advanced warfare center, we had news of a wandering soldier, then the dreaded words were said by Bradford: "Commander, we have an UFO locking onto our signal, initiate evasive manoeuvres" I gave green light, but it was to late, an EMP shot us out of the sky, luckely the wounded didn't became more wounded as it was and we had time to stage an defensive perimeter, as most of my soldiers were still recovering, I had no choice of sending them in again while still being bandaged with the SPARK unit, so there they stood, a ranger skilled with the blade, two grenadiers, one skilled in ripping armour like a tincan, and the other having a love for explosives, our most skilled hacker and a medic, wounded but ready to defend their new home, ready to give their lives for our cause, the battle was difficult, the ranger going for the target emitter while the rest defended the base, then as reinforcement bravo teams ranger came to aid, and together the two rangers took out the emitter with the assistance of the SPARK to make sure the beserker didn't squashed the rangers, it was a hard battle, a tough battle, but in the end, no one was more injured then they already were besides a few dents on the SPARK, which left Julian to nag about it for days. Mission, accomplished. the avenger lives to fight another day
This was one hell of an epic mission I had the whole squad hold the line near the avenger while a single ranger flanked the entire enemy force thanks to the "Phantom" ability As soon as she got close to the target, I had both her and one of the snipers shoot the spire down After that I had my ranger run back while pretty much everyone was on overwatch I had everyone back safely
It sucks ass. I had the Berserker Queen show on one. She should've had her dead from a Kubikiri from paired snipers but she retreated due to a bug. Rulers on these missions, to me, are the sort of thing you might as well start a new game over.
"Sally forth, men. Today, every man and woman who sheds their blood on the field of the base defense shall be my brother and sister. And together, the aliens will ask themselves in one voice "Why? Why did they not flee from our guns and our endless forces when they could? Why did they stand and fight?" And they shall know the answer. For we, are the men and woman of XCOM, and there is no other reason necessary than total destruction of the alien will to fight! Now let them come! And let them die!" May not like Beaglerush that much, but GODDANM that was badass.
Reminds me of Beaglerush's critical and one-sided defeat of ADVENT at the Battle of Bradford's Spear. Six soldiers defeated over 100 ADVENT troopers, mechs, and their alien overlords, after destroying the beacon immediately after debarking from the Avenger with some advanced plasma tech, the blaster bombs. While the immediate aftermath of Bradford's Spear was X-COM surviving, some say it was the battle that exposed the ADVENT for being a totalitarian paper tiger, and was the first real domino that led to Earth's liberation from the Elders later in 2035.
Aliens: You're outnumbered and outgunned. It's over!! Me: *smiles* See that giant disruptor behind you? You've made the biggest mistake right now...you've put yourselves between us and it. You've made yourselves into the path of least resistance...
I still remember that day when i was playing on Legend. All goes kinda smooth-rough, and i was pretty sure i didn't miss the UFO Hunt Dark Event, and... suddenly, for some bizarre reason, the UFO appeared and shot the Avenger down. Holy Shit... I just realized that i had no Defense Matrix, and all my soldiers were still using ballistic weapons and kevlar armor. It was a tedious fight, yet i was actually surprised that everyone survived, despite one girl was badly wounded and lost her will. But man, that was just epic.Especially when every single one of my soldiers were making the run back for the Avenger ramp via an uncovered enemy flank after the massive reinforcements arrived just after i blew up the spike.
Advent: We have you surrounded!!! Your out gun and heavily outnumbered. You may as well come out with your hands up and be prepared to be arrested for your crimes.Me: "Oh were coming out and when we do. You better hope there is a ship nearby you can evacuate into. Because we are not leaving. Not without a fight"!
The sound of my last line of grunts shooting 30% chance shots with their shitty assault rifles, one dude’s just in the corner panicking and throwing shit around, absolute mayhem
THIS. THIs! I had once a big battle: Deployable turrets, Heroes, superhuman anime girls, tanks and the chosen on my side VS a shitload of ADVENT, a better advent Primes, Corrupt Avatar, Tanks, Rulers on their side. Fuck man.... It was a true fucking war! It took 3 hours to win and tonsa casualties, but it was freakin worth it. I still have insta orgasm when I think about that fight....
50% of the comments are about how tense and challenging and exciting this mission was for them. And it can be, it's one of my fave parts of the game for that. But the other 50% are about how to absolutely cheese this shit and that's even more entertaining.
The Avenger happened to be on a cliff, so the aliens had to climb up just to reach me. They had no cover and were at the mercy of my defense matrix and soldiers on overwatch. I hacked one of the heavy mechs and had it destroy the jammer, keeping my squad out of harm's way the entire time. I also finished off the berserker queen after numerous previous encounters and losses to her, which was the icing on the cake. I suppose I had it easy that time, only time will tell if my second playthrough will be so lucky.
In a modded playthrough... The mothership had been shot down with EMP rounds. In a surprise attack, XCOM's ship and HQ fell from the sky at an alarming speed, having been shot down with EMP rounds from above the clouds by a stealth UFO interceptor that had finally get a hold on their flight routine. The comms of the resistance from around the world went crazy, as nearby outposts had reported that "their flagship was falling down head first, and with no signs of stopping". There was smoke on the ground, dust covering the air. Dissipated by the earthquakes the EMP Needle was emitting not too far away from the succesfully landed Avenger, thanks to Shen Jr's dexterity. ADVENT had already sent not recovery, but fully fledged killing squads, antiair support, and dozens, if not hundreds, of reinforcements from all around the world to that precise location. The sky was clouded by airships on their way to the insurrect landed ship, and no ADVENT bench unit was left resting. But for when the squads began arriving, the fight would be already over. For the roaring of Advanced Mk.I and Mk.II Power Armors, the revving of miniguns, the buzzing of Plasma and Laser rifles, and the yelling of sergeants were already taking place; with both star-surrounded E's and Vigilo Confido paintjobs along their armors, the Enclave remnants at humanity's service were rushing from the Avenger's boarding platforms to the outside. Straight into ADVENT's jaws, with orders to go and destroy the EMP Needle themselves so the ship could get away from there. The screeching of their hydraulic pistons, the clanking of the reserve soldiers' Power Armors on their way out and the yelling of the officers filled the air, as the first ADVENT dropships deployed their elite troops. XCOM's forces were already advancing, making sure no enemy of humanity could go past their defense into the Avenger, all the while pushing forward not as a team, but as a growing army. Shots filled the air, the screaming and crying of both sides banged on everyone's eardrums and the blood was being spilled, as XCOM's forces did their best... to Hold the Line.
I was so frustrated the first time i could stream this game and i had a bug in which the game crashed upon loading the mission after the avenger shot down cutscene, and when reloading the last save, it bugged and the ufo would keep following me without triggering the mission ! This mission crystallize everything i love when playing xcom 2 ! The atmosphere, the music, the stakes of the situation, the whole overwhelming forces, evercoming reinforcements, and such... It just draws me tears of joy each time i play it on a new campaign ! New heroes, new braves, new honored wounded and sometimes honored fallen soldiers... There is no way to make a bystander understand the thrill of playing Xcom 2, because it has to be lived yourself in the same way than this mission !
Avanger goes down. I get literally every soldier on board under my control ? I mean... You aliens are fucked beyond belief, fellas. I'm so sorry for you.
One time, I was doing a mission, and I was breaking down the pike's health. I then decided to pull back my units to prepare for the retreat. However, I was out of sight of the pike, so my Sniper couldn't shoot it down and there were advent reinforcements coming in. As I thought I would have to go through a grueling fight, the pike exploded on one health. It was a miracle.
Yknow, when I got the notification that one of the chosen was about to attempt a strike on the avenger, I was cool with it. I could handle the chosen, I had pretty good guys, and yeah sure it’s a bit late game but it wouldn’t be too bad. *I DID NOT PREPARE FOR A HORDE OF SPECTRES, AND A FUCKING GUSTAV CANNON.*
Today, we no longer fight the aliens We do not fight for the liberation of earth We do not fight to avenge earth or those who have fallen before us We fight for our right to live today
It's a variation on the mission success music, which is basically "XCOM Theme". Like how the Chosen have their own theme when they enter a mission, I wonder if this is what you would hear if you were on ADVENT's side and an XCOM squad landed into your mission.
This mission was a goddamn nightmare on legendary difficulty since I still was stuck with beginner tier equipment (no upgrades on armor or weapons at all), the only way I even got through this horror was by hacking one of their mech units and using it against them.
First time doing this, get charged by five advent mechs and 3 berserkers with trooper support, had my work cut out holding the line while a ranger and reaper slipped through their lines to take out the spire, which was naturally guarded by a berserker, mech and trooper.
Central: "Commander were sending out more troops, hold them off as long as you can" *the reserve team runs out after frantically gearing up Central: "Commander some of the wounded are coming out to fight, i tried to stop them, but they wouldnt have it" *your wounded soldiers pile out onto the battlefield, using magnetic weapons and carapice armour, some even in kevlar, theyre using whatever they can get their hands on. The avenger is their home, they cant afford to sit around. Central: "Thats the last of our forces commander. Good luck" *you hear a rumble in the avenger, whats going on down there, oh god, did advent make it in? Central: "Commander... I'M GOING IN" *John Bradford, your oldest friend emerges... in something you havent seen in a long time. An old XCOM MECH SUIT
ADVENT when they see 32 snipers, 14 demolitions experts, 13 technicians, and 19 rangers pop out of the Avenger and start shredding everything that moves (I hired as many troops as I could because quantity beats quality)
yeah there is nothing like moving one of your guys one title too far and triggering like 2 or more big ass pods with bullet sponges and mecs that make generous use of long range rockets to bomb the hell out of several of your guys several times a turn and this is just during the first turn. you KNOW on the second or third turn more pods are running to get in on the action. The only unit i can't recall seeing in a long war run is the sectopod altho i still had to deal with gatekeepers. There were times i BARELY got away on this mission which had me struggling for the rest of the play thru due to some of my best guys getting murked. sure i had back up teams for my back up teams (it's long war>_>) but for me, having like 7 or more high level guys wiped at the points i tend to get caught is a real pain to bounce back from (still fun tho😅)
@@outlaw0987654321I'm playing on Vet difficulty as a new player and got my ass kicked. Avatar was about to start, was under prepared and lost. Something I like about this game is that it doesn't hold your hand. You WILL get punished and it can potentially end your campaign after many hours.
The real commander would allow this interception only in late-game. By the time I was intercepted (hard difficulty of course), my primary squadron was already in colonel rank. A single skilled combat engineer hacked an enemy Mech and the psi-operative has taken control over Andromedon. The battle was done in a few minutes, without direct engagement of my own troops.
If ha having any problems with this mission. Use a ranger with the phantom ability to sneak to the jammer, and use a sharpshooter to whittle it down, due to squadsight, you just gotta find a spot where theres a direct line of sight. Also dont get your ranger spotted, quick way of losing them
Got into Xcom 2 not long ago and I've had to defend twice out of 2 games I've played. Played the regular Xcom 2 before WOTC and this mission got scary too fast for me but I got through it within like 2 - 3 turns via a Grenadier having Blaster Launcher so without moving I nuked it half way and then with a PSI OP I dominated an Andromedon and rushed it in to finish it off. Funny watching all the Advent focus it down so mission went well, second time defending which was in my second game through WOTC again lucky enough to take it out within 2 turns thanks to again Blaster Launcher and then having a nearby roof I placed my Sharpshooter, got squadsight via Reaper and plucked the last bit of HP lol Second defence went tons smoother than my first thanks to the building nearby.
This mission was ruthless, i had to hold until their units were so focus on my men (which they were using basic weapon +1 and kevlar, one bad move and i was done) leaving the skirmisher alone for taking out the beacon and yet, 2 codex were guarding it (i loved the moment when the first got paralyzed by using the hook, so you depleted my ammo from my gun it would be a shame if use something else to kill you...) By the time it was time to leave, my soldiers were ready to kill anything I fucking loved the outcome of this mission
This would have been better if the alien forces forced you to land and boarded the ship cause then you could have had battles within the ship and you had to protect certain areas and such.
the missions that I never want to be in the early parts of the game.. its always epic but At least you have to already have magnetic weaponries and personnel with mid-high accuracies, or it will be a hell of a fight. Hell, even i met the criteria above still gave me challenges
Easiest mission on the game with the introduction of reapers. Make sure your reaper has increased dmg from Claymores and if possible the additional claymore and/or the "claymore kills put the reaper back in shadow". just put everyone on the ramp and overwatch. make the reaper go to the emp stuff, claymore it to hell and come back
Reapers make any mission easy tbh if you get the 100% crit chance perk from concealed/shadow and you have the 0% detection when you kill enemies its literally op af
I don't know how many people have experienced the horror of a mid-late game LW2 Avenger Defense but bugger that mission. Bugger it to hell and back. Veteran and Elite Advent, Aliens and Skittles Robots in pods of six or more... And that first front-loaded mega-pod of over a dozen enemies... I hate this mission SO much.
This mission with mods like long war REALLY makes you feel like it's a last stand. nothing like moving one guy one or two tiles only at activate 2 or more pods with VERY high level MECS (can aoe bomb the fuck outta you) muton centurions (grenades and personal sheilds) Viper najas (snipers. can sometimes blow right through predator armor and kill) Viper sideminders (Won't triger overwatch-_-) Gatekeeper (gatekeep, nuf said) with all other enemies having fairly high HP. So not only do you have a lot of enemies to deal with, many of them are bullet sponges and you end up with grazing shots at the worse possible times>_>. Well at least i never ran into a sectopod on this mission.
As if this mission wasn't intense enough it also triggered an Alien Hunters encounter for me. Had to deal with the Berserker Queen on top of all the other packs spawning 😬
They should make it such that you can hack the interceptor instead of having do destroy it, and you use that instead to cause all advent ships that come fail in flight and you get to get materials from it

Never noticed that.
You know why?
Because *failure is not an option!*

Major: “Because they will forever hold the line Private.
just to merge xcom 2 and mass effect
I wonder how many people know that this plays in the tutorial as well.
I realized that now
Me too. We can call it the desperate situation music then :)

VIGILO CONFIDO!
To be honest, this mission was a lot harder trying to escape after destroying the jammer
karankenZ I agree.
I always send a Ranger and Specialist after the jammer, while my other troops held the fort
70+ enemies vs 10 soldiers
The enemies are outnumbered commander
The fact that squad members can actually permanently die in this game makes it so much more intense and thrilling when they come out alive.
i love how a certain string of notes can be found in most of the game's soundtracks.
I think it stemmed from the Terror from the Deep theme, different rhythm, but they had the code
Mission, accomplished.
the avenger lives to fight another day
This was one hell of an epic mission
I had the whole squad hold the line near the avenger while a single ranger flanked the entire enemy force thanks to the "Phantom" ability
As soon as she got close to the target, I had both her and one of the snipers shoot the spire down
After that I had my ranger run back while pretty much everyone was on overwatch
I had everyone back safely
Now imagine finding an alien ruler here
Thomas Moran King Archon came along to say hi. He grabbed on of my guys and slammed her. but in the end I got him
SiniOk same. The first time I had this happen to me Archon King happened. So many resets.
@@JuroJack If you take on the Archon King before you have plasma weapons, you're gonna need to save scum.
It sucks ass. I had the Berserker Queen show on one. She should've had her dead from a Kubikiri from paired snipers but she retreated due to a bug. Rulers on these missions, to me, are the sort of thing you might as well start a new game over.
joke on you got attacked by a random avatar ruler in lw2
"Sally forth, men. Today, every man and woman who sheds their blood on the field of the base defense shall be my brother and sister. And together, the aliens will ask themselves in one voice "Why? Why did they not flee from our guns and our endless forces when they could? Why did they stand and fight?" And they shall know the answer. For we, are the men and woman of XCOM, and there is no other reason necessary than total destruction of the alien will to fight! Now let them come! And let them die!"
May not like Beaglerush that much, but GODDANM that was badass.
"Our influence will stop Saren! in the battle today, we WILL HOLD THE LINE"...wait sorry wrong game😋
MASS EFFECT !
I was thinking the EXACT same thing!
funny thing is with mods, you can literally have Kirrahe there.
Okay, I have to admit, that's a pretty epic line
Nathan Mojica I AM NOT TRAPPED IN A BATTLEFIELD FULL IF ALIENS! YOU ARE ALL TRAPPED IN HERE WITH ME!!
@@minneicecube4215 I wish I could have a Ranger say that when they activate Reaper with the Assassin's Katana as their sword
Traveller of the Atlas nah, it’s better if a Grenadier pulls the pins on two frag grenades and say it.
"Bad idea bringing organics to the battlefield, it would be a shame if some would be happen to be a.....psi operative.
I still remember that day when i was playing on Legend. All goes kinda
smooth-rough, and i was pretty sure i didn't miss the UFO Hunt Dark
Event, and... suddenly, for some bizarre reason, the UFO appeared and
shot the Avenger down. Holy Shit... I just realized that i had no
Defense Matrix, and all my soldiers were still using ballistic weapons
and kevlar armor. It was a tedious fight, yet i was actually surprised
that everyone survived, despite one girl was badly wounded and lost her
will.
But man, that was just epic.Especially when every single one of my
soldiers were making the run back for the Avenger ramp via an uncovered
enemy flank after the massive reinforcements arrived just after i blew
up the spike.
The sound of my last line of grunts shooting 30% chance shots with their shitty assault rifles, one dude’s just in the corner panicking and throwing shit around, absolute mayhem
ahhh, the official game over anthem of *LWOTC*
delicious :)

Did this remind anyone else of Modern Warfare 2?
Good times.
I can hear it a little, yeah.
@@MegaCrocosaurus92 Same here
Yeah I felt the chills when the brass came in with the main theme at around the minute mark.
Glad to see you watch ChristopherOdd as well.
My most loved game in the world ❤ played it hundreds of time on all difficulty levels, all dlcs and mods. Heck! I’ll play it another hundred times ❤❤❤
THIS. I still have insta orgasm when I think about that fight....
i like that for a mod list, can you be more spesific?
im back and taking notes for a mod list
50% of the comments are about how tense and challenging and exciting this mission was for them. And it can be, it's one of my fave parts of the game for that.
But the other 50% are about how to absolutely cheese this shit and that's even more entertaining.
Doing this armed to teeth on Legend difficulty is like paving a corpse pile up the heaven.
If anyone like me, wants to listen to this on Spotify or something, the song is called “New World Order” in the ost.
I wish the mission was instead where the avenger was invaded and you battle in the rooms you built and such that would have had more impact
Only the classic XCOM had something like that I think.
That would have been fun, like a "Phase 2" if you lost the battle outside.
That actually happened in one of the Novels. It's why the inside of the ship was so fucked up.
Avanger goes down. I get literally every soldier on board under my control ?
I mean... You aliens are fucked beyond belief, fellas. I'm so sorry for you.
What I would do to play this mission again just to hear this song and feel the urgency...Almost wish I hadn't finished it so quickly.
either you are screwed or simply prepared for the worst encounter ever
Today, we no longer fight the aliens
We do not fight for the liberation of earth
We do not fight to avenge earth or those who have fallen before us
We fight for our right to live today
Love how that guy on the left is holding the cannon wrong.
Yea it always itched my in a wrong way when i saw how the gunner holds his gun
Parts of this reminds me of the soundtrack for Kingsman
Meanwhile my soldiers are laughing while a single phantom ranger runs up and spots the spike and my snipers plonk it away from complete safety
Even better mind control an alien which is in range and let the defence matrix do the job.
While the soldiers sit down and play UNO on the ramp bay.
It's a variation on the mission success music, which is basically "XCOM Theme". Like how the Chosen have their own theme when they enter a mission, I wonder if this is what you would hear if you were on ADVENT's side and an XCOM squad landed into your mission.
The gun that snipers holding reminds me of the rail jack in planetside 2.
Zenrikku77 Well it hits probably as hard, give or take. However this one given a scope module, a magazine and auto loader, this one would be better...
This mission is stupid fucking fun.
I CAN'T BREATH
This mission was a goddamn nightmare on legendary difficulty since I still was stuck with beginner tier equipment (no upgrades on armor or weapons at all), the only way I even got through this horror was by hacking one of their mech units and using it against them.
Adapt, improvise, survive.
And heres the ADVENT turn THEME:
th-cam.com/video/qHK6603ogEs/w-d-xo.html
First time doing this, get charged by five advent mechs and 3 berserkers with trooper support, had my work cut out holding the line while a ranger and reaper slipped through their lines to take out the spire, which was naturally guarded by a berserker, mech and trooper.
Central: "Commander were sending out more troops, hold them off as long as you can"
*the reserve team runs out after frantically gearing up
Central: "Commander some of the wounded are coming out to fight, i tried to stop them, but they wouldnt have it"
*your wounded soldiers pile out onto the battlefield, using magnetic weapons and carapice armour, some even in kevlar, theyre using whatever they can get their hands on. The avenger is their home, they cant afford to sit around.
Central: "Thats the last of our forces commander. Good luck"
*you hear a rumble in the avenger, whats going on down there, oh god, did advent make it in?
Central: "Commander... I'M GOING IN"
*John Bradford, your oldest friend emerges... in something you havent seen in a long time.
An old XCOM MECH SUIT
best way to rack up the promotions
inb4 a sectopod steps on the emp generator.
Or your turret misses a shot and blows up a tank right next to the generator. On the second turn.
ADVENT when they see 32 snipers, 14 demolitions experts, 13 technicians, and 19 rangers pop out of the Avenger and start shredding everything that moves (I hired as many troops as I could because quantity beats quality)
Once this theme is playing it means your about to get fucking destroyed LMAO
in my case i make sure is upside down
And then you cheese the mission in 1 turn with Blaster Bombs...
Or a Reaper and a Sharpshooter combo...
when you hear this you know your amazing Long War Campaign is going to hell
yeah there is nothing like moving one of your guys one title too far and triggering like 2 or more big ass pods with bullet sponges and mecs that make generous use of long range rockets to bomb the hell out of several of your guys several times a turn and this is just during the first turn. you KNOW on the second or third turn more pods are running to get in on the action.
Death is lighter than a feather; duty, heavier than a mountain.
Lost my colonel and ultimately destroyed my commander ironman run thanks to this mission :(
The real commander would allow this interception only in late-game. By the time I was intercepted (hard difficulty of course), my primary squadron was already in colonel rank. A single skilled combat engineer hacked an enemy Mech and the psi-operative has taken control over Andromedon. The battle was done in a few minutes, without direct engagement of my own troops.
"Then it's a dogfight"
"Against 5th Generation Aliens!"
If ha having any problems with this mission. Use a ranger with the phantom ability to sneak to the jammer, and use a sharpshooter to whittle it down, due to squadsight, you just gotta find a spot where theres a direct line of sight. Also dont get your ranger spotted, quick way of losing them
Avenger gets EMPed
*Panik*
You see Standard shit for enemys
*Kalm*
You get introduced to the Sectopod and notice it has a lot of Health
*Panik*
Oh my, so cool soundtrack!
I had a fully leveled squad, hacked a heavy mec and used him to destroy the spike since it was placed next to a car, easiest defense mission ever.
this is why you get the defence matrix! it WILL save your ass
avenger defence are my favorite missions... shen's last gift has the better music but this mission was always the most fun
How anyone can dislike this is beyond me tbh 🙄
They must be advent soldiers
Thick
Two Super Sniper + One Stealth (Phantom Skill) = gg
ADJUSTING SIGHTS!
This mission was ruthless, i had to hold until their units were so focus on my men (which they were using basic weapon +1 and kevlar, one bad move and i was done) leaving the skirmisher alone for taking out the beacon and yet, 2 codex were guarding it (i loved the moment when the first got paralyzed by using the hook, so you depleted my ammo from my gun it would be a shame if use something else to kill you...)
By the time it was time to leave, my soldiers were ready to kill anything
I fucking loved the outcome of this mission
This would have been better if the alien forces forced you to land and boarded the ship cause then you could have had battles within the ship and you had to protect certain areas and such.
It got to a point where I wasn't even bothering with cover. I'd just spam overwatch and they'd all die the second they stepped off the transport.
Bruh up the difficulty
I had only 9 soldiers when i did teh Avenger Defense (I just started the game) i Only had Tier 2 rifles and Tier 2 Armors, nobody died in my side
the*
Shad Ap
Just like the last game I find that the tier two weapons look and sound cooler then the tier 3’s.... even MORE with the Mag weapons
Looking at this picture I kinda wish we got to keep the railguns' skins for our weapons.
Did anyone realize that the chords for the the violins/cellos are the similar for Marvel's Avenger's Theme?
lol
Great, just amazing)
the missions that I never want to be in the early parts of the game.. its always epic but
At least you have to already have magnetic weaponries and personnel with mid-high accuracies, or it will be a hell of a fight.
8 grabadores and sharpshooters they regret attacking me head one lol
But let’s be fair 6 soldiers with plated armor and mag weapons and this mission becomes promotion day
THIS IS MY FINAL STAND I WILL NOT FALL TO THE CRINGE
They should make it such that you can hack the interceptor instead of having do destroy it, and you use that instead to cause all advent ships that come fail in flight and you get to get materials from it
some one want a little more war in his guerrilla game
If only they installed Julian in the Avenger. This battle won't happen in the first place. He'll blow that shitty UFO before they even know it.
