Hello Susan 👋 Yes, it is fascinating to see the whole process - did you catch our Tea Factory Tour video? th-cam.com/video/8TYkpeCyeLE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BT9lrgi1KxPTp8MC That was such an amazing experience, and oh, how I wish we could have shared the delicious aroma with you xx🥰🤗
Hello Julie! 👋 The views certainly were stunning... Sri Lanka is so beautiful. We're both well, and are enjoying our time here in Portugal, housesitting gorgeous Tilly cat 😻🥰
Hi Leslee. So glad you enjoyed the walk. I didn't realise how lovely and relaxing hiking around the tea estates would be. ❤️. Beautiful scenery and everyone was really friendly and welcoming too. Definitely worth putting on the list. ❤️🇱🇰
Hello Pocahoetaz 👋 It's always so lovely to hear from you 😊 For us, Lee is definitely Team Tea, whilst I didn't start even liking tea until I was in my 30s, and was Team Coffee all the way 🤣 What about you... Team Coffee or Team Tea?
@@FrugalTravellers oh wow-interesting! I think I'm "team tea" but I need to stop drinking so much because tannis in tea lower absorption of iron and it's important especially for vegetarians/vegans. I hope you two are doing good. Have a great rest of the week!
@@pocahoetaz Although I'm team tea I do enjoy a coffee most mornings. We'll have to visit some coffee producing places in the future too. 😁 Have a great week. 👍 Lee
@@pocahoetazOhhh... that's so interesting re: the tannins and iron. I've read that I should be drinking 3 cups of green tea per day to reduce the recurrence of breast cancer... I hadn't realised it could have an issue with my iron level on my whole food plant-based diet! ~ Mandy
@@FrugalTravellers well we should remember not to drink it while eating or short before/after eating. Green tea is healthy and also tasty when properly brew (I'm not expert myself😅) or with some extras like mango. Looking forward to see new videos! :)
Lipton tea, love it. I’ve just discovered your channel so I’m binge watching your vlogs. Hope your wife is feeling better, I just watched her wellness vlogs, beautiful person.
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️. Mandy is doing very well thank you 🙏 Glad you like the channel and hope you enjoy the more Sri Lanka videos we have to come. 😍🇱🇰
Thanks Lucchesse 😊 A lovely spot and I'm glad I didn't come across the monkeys up there because they can be pesky critters. 😂😂 Especially when you get your lunch out. 😂👍
Hi! I work as a development consultant here in Sri Lanka, and one of the key projects i am engaged in is the revival of the Sri Lankan tea industry. Ceylon Tea, as it's known, is the best quality (flavour) in the world, but that quality comes at a cost! Apart from the soil and climate, what gives our tea its unique flavour is that we pluck "two leaves and a bud". Unfortunately this "selective plucking" as it's called, can only be done manually, and given the shortage of labour and its cost (even considering the ridiculously low wage rate), we find ourselves being out-priced in the global market compared to countries which have mechanized the plucking process. Of course, we could resort to machine plucking too but that would mean losing out on the quality, which is our USP. We would no longer have a competitive advantage in a niche market and at the same time cannot match the sheer volumes being produced by countries like India, China and Kenya. Sorry for the long rant 😂 but this is one of those topics that's very close to my heart ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide all this information. 🙏. I find it really fascinating and I am very intrigued into how the industry is heading in the future. I've seen some of these mechanised plucking machines on other videos. It is a concern that the focus is now on quantity not quality. It's hard to compete with such innovations. I wonder if they have any long term effects on the bush. 🤔 It's so vigorous! I hope there remains a demand for quality hand picked tea as a niche market. The other issue seems to be the lack of workers as the next generation are reluctant to engage in such strenuous work, as is the case in hard manual work worldwide. We wish you all the best and we will continue to highlight the tea industry in our further travels. We intend to visit more estates as we travel through Bangladesh this year. 👍
Hi. I spent the morning there, leaving Haputale around 7 am, arriving at the seat around 10.30 and returning about 1pm. Can't remember exactly but I do say the times in the video. 👍
Hello, Vera. I know it can be a bit confusing, as our videos are always at least 5-8 months behind real time, but my Journey to Wellness videos have been coming out earlier on Mondays. We were in Sri Lanka in June-July 2023, and I received the diagnosis on the 11th July in Kandy. ~ Mandy

We hope you enjoy that morning cup of tea Mr B ☕☕ Cheers!
Go for Adam's Peak, worth it despite the 3am start
We missed out on Adam's peak on this trip but definitely want to return to Sri Lanka so it's going on the list for next time. Thank you 🙏
Hello Lee and Maddy what a beautiful place take care ❤👍🙏
Hello Nisar. It is certainly such a beautiful place. Thank you so much for your lovely comment 🙏🤗
Oddly enough, I never thought of Lipton as a person. Thanks for bringing him to life!
Yes, it's funny. Some names are are just etched into our brains as a brand. I wonder what he was like as a person. 🤔
Good to see you with the new video💓💓
That's so lovely, thank you.
Very interesting, nice to know where our tea comes from and the process it goes through before we drink it. ❤❤❤ xx

@@FrugalTravellers I do!!
Wow the tea fields look amazing and so peaceful with the lovely birdsong and all! An awful pity the tea pickers don’t get paid so well though 😢❤
It certainly feels like an idyllic paradise but is a tough life for the pickers. A very interesting place to visit. 👍
