Not sure if you're still even checking this, but I really appreciate this video. I'm heading there in sept, and you're right, so many videos are just long instagram reels instead of good hard info. I know it's 5 years old, and some things may have changed, like with permits, but it did answer a lot of my questions....especially since the website isn't that clear. Go Gators!
This was SO helpful!! Thanks for all the info. Definitely couldn't understand the whole permit the day of situation. Can't wait to hike it this summer!
A lot of helpful info, thank you! I am planning a hike of the Granite Canyon and Teton Crest Trail for the end of July, this summer. Having hiked the Crest Trail are there any sights looking back you would have liked to hit or any other recommendations you might have? Did you use a digital map and/or a paper map?
Have an amazing time! I used a paper Nat Geo map, but I now have the AllTrails Pro app for digital, downloadable maps that work without service. I'd recommend using both in case your phone dies or sometimes happens to the paper map. As far as other sights, going north into Yellowstone is definitely worth it, even just to drive through for a day.
Thanks for the info. You are so right that there is not a lot helping with logistics. QUESTION: You flew in, and then I assume you rented a car. Would it have been easy enough to use a taxi service to get around in the Park instead of renting and paying for it while it is left at the trailhead?
If you’re only planning on hiking the TCT then heading back to Jackson or the airport I’d say you could get away without a rental car. There are a couple taxi services and you can schedule your rides in advance, which is smart because cell service is very limited within the park. It would be difficult to Uber from place to place multiple times without a pre-set plan because of the lack of service.
