I love how the cougar was given emotions and facial expressions. More often than not, the predators are portrayed as monsters. Here, the predator was just doing what predators do. Trying to find food.
Movies back then were absolutely magical, in storytelling and scope. The beautiful scores were final icing on the cake 🎂. There's no magic or inspiration anymore 😢, seems to be all be political and personal agendas and corporate profit. I've noticed that most movies scores sounds very generic with "NO" heart or emotions. I really want to bringing the back those types of movies that I grew up with ever since I was toddler and younger ages in 2000s era with more "Absolutely Magical", "Storytelling" and "Scope". Even more "Heart and Emotion".
Yeah. First time I watched this scene, I had thought Spirit was going to finish the cougar off by stomping on it like he threatened to do. From what I understand nowadays, he was just delivering his warning shot.
It's even better when you discover that actual wild stallions can be that badass. I saw in one video a stallion charging against a grizzly bear to protect his family (it was a young grizzly thouth, but even that it was incredible to watch such a brave and beautiful animal doing something like that).
More often than not with cougars and other predatory animals they’ll prefer to hunt babies and sickly adults because they’re easier prey. So a healthier horse like Spirit has a better chance of fighting off cougars. Especially when it comes to the herd’s safety.
Really love how Spirit finishes the fight off by rearing over the cougar in a fiendish manner before finally laying his hooves down aggressively causing the screen to quake as he does so, thus petrifying the big feline out of the scene. Genuinely helps make Spirit a opposing but still heartful beast.
(Dipper grown up as a deer with horns) Dipper: And so I grew from fawn to deer as wild and reckless as thunder over the land racing with the eagle, soaring with the wind. Flying? There were times I believed I could. [He starts tagging the eagle, then jumping over] Dipper: Like my father before me I became leader of the deer herd and with that honor, came responsibility. (Dipper saw a cougar on the field and saw that baby deers who are playing in danger, he alerted and cougar attacks. Cougar lunged at baby deer, but Dipper strikes him with horns and hooves. They began to fight, Dipper kept dodging claws. Cougar climbed on his back, but Dipper fell to the ground hitting him. Cougar is horrified that Dipper is going to stomp him, but Dipper stomped the ground in front of him and growled. Dipper scared away the cougar. Herd reunited to Dipper and cheered. Dipper led the herd to their home forest.)

20 years later Spirit still being a masterpiece and one of my favourite film
1:32 indeed
One of the most satisfying scenes in any DreamWorks movie
I love how the cougar was given emotions and facial expressions. More often than not, the predators are portrayed as monsters. Here, the predator was just doing what predators do. Trying to find food.
More than a fighter, Spirit is one thing: a hero.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart

God I loved watching this movie when I was a kid and it making me fall in love with movies like it and the wild
Agreed

Both are underrated masterpieces

As someone who was born in 2001, I agree. The magic needs to return! 🥺
This movie has politics also though a message of white supremacy
EVERY film has a political/personal agenda, the issue today is that movie put agenda before story
@@computergenius4070 I agree with you.

Matt Damon was rather lucky that he gets to play Spirit and become the narrator for it
The Cougar shouldn't be messing with Spirit because Spirit is good at protecting his family.

1:53-1:58 yes, he did.
I’m so glad people are still giving recognition to this beautiful movie 💛🐴
Most definitely!
1:52 when I was 5 years old, I thought 💭 spirit was going to show cougar no mercy. But, he gives it a warning. ⚠️ 1:59 you better run!
God these animators are godly, horses are so difficult to animate yet it’s so fluid and flows so gracefully here.
The Relationship between Spirit and The Eagle is very wholesome
Happy 21st Anniversary DreamWorks "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON" (MAY 24, 2002)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Spirit was in a fight with Axel from Tangled: TS, that would’ve been like Aladar vs Kron from Dinosaur.
All great this to watch
And If Spirit was in Balto, he easily could’ve broken Steele’s neck.
Spirit reminds me of Maximus.
Just like Tarzan vs sabor the leopard
1:32-1:52 that’s exactly what I have in mind.
Haven't Watch this yet but still looks good
You should watch it
Bumblebee - Spirit

At first you'd think there's no way a horse could fight a cougar, but then you remember the horse is played by Jason Bourne 😅

Plus, horses are huge, they outweigh cougars by a lot, and a kick could be fatal.
Spirit is Fast he never gets tired 😪 of running 🏃♂️

Is it just me or does that Mountain Lion look like Nala from The Lion King
James Baxter animated both Lion King and Spirit and he probably used a bit of the same proportions of a wild cat for this movie.
Life lesson #1 for the cougar: NEVER mess with a wild stallion or its herd.
who is spirit father ?
Can you upload the scene of Spirit and the indian playing in the water after saving him??
Paul Bunyan: Take that, you tinwits! I'm Paul Bunyan! I'm 300 pounds of ragin' fury!
That’s one horse Nala won’t forget.
Thats Not Nala!.
Spirit's heard loves him very much especially the twin foals the herd is also for everything for that nobody got killed by the cougar.

Well done Spirit
if this wasn’t a kids movie that cougar would’ve been splattered at the end 😂 and probably left there to die
Because the horses knew that huge mountain lion has discovered thier feeding ground site and it was a danger to the calves
That cougar looks like Nala from The Lion King franchise due to the fact that Dreamworks likes to roast Disney.

Who spirits dad
You know, since Spirit is the leader then it’s very likely that the 2 babies are probably his.
If they were, he wouldn’t have fallen in love with Rain.
@@Mac14329 The two foals are probably more like nephews or cousins of Spirit. I'm pretty horse herds have more than one stallion.
He looks like Simba
Why the cougar was more looking like a Lion King character to me ?
Probably Dreamworks taking a little jab at Disney. The two companies were never on good terms.
What's the song at the end called and who is it by?
This ist were i belong, the song of the horse movie "Spirit stallion of the cimarron" the Singer is Brayn adams.

I’m glad you can see that. ❤😊 Because not a whole lot of people see the bigger picture. They just see a horse fending off a cougar.
