  • My son Rennen was quite the accomplished PW50 rider by the time he turned 6-years old, but we thought the Stacyc 16E would be a great "toy" for him to have for backyard fun without the involvement of gear and parental guidance that he normally would have to deal with when riding the PW50. Basically, Rennen has always loved balance bikes and has been riding one since he was 18-months old, so the Stacyc would be like the "ultimate balance bike" for him.
    This video was shot on his 6th birthday when we gave him the bike. He instantly loved it and I wanted to document his time with it not only for fun, but to also keep an eye on the bike, as I was expecting to have problems with it based on what I was seeing in the Stacyc Facebook groups. This was the first video in the series, and we did in fact encounter problems with it which we are now dealing with. I have several more videos after this that show the issues with the bike and how we dealt with them.

    when you called one little and one big and had to reword the entire situation, as a parent I felt that so hard 😅. Well played sir.

    Those bikes looked really cool!!! Looks like your boys know how to ride!! That’s awesome and especially for the young one to fall down and not cry!! But honestly I was admiring your property hahaha man that would be soooo nice to live there!! Away from the noise in the city!! That’s my goal, to get a some land and have a cool house and I would set up those house sheds all over and have dirt path trails as roads!! I’d have a gym in one of the sheds and have it like a little town then rent it out for the weekend to people

    I’ve been seeing mixed reviews about these, and how quick they break. I’m looking into them for my kids... what do you think of them now that it’s been a bit since this video was posted?

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Excellent question! I have a few other videos highlighting the issues I’ve had with the 16e. Our 12e has been flawless, but our 3-year old doesn’t ride it nearly as hard as our 6-year old rides his 16e. Also, the 3-year old is much lighter. I feel the issue is squarely with the gearboxes not able to handle the weight of a heavier kid (50lbs and up) jumping and using it like a motocross bike, like Stacyc ad’s portray really. Also, the battery life sucks. On the fastest speed, you’ll get maybe 20-minutes than need an hour to charge, making two expensive batteries a necessity if your kid enjoys it

    Awesome. Now I want to see hopefully another episode where this talented kids actually learn to pedal and actually enjoy it and manage to exercise and burn all that energy, energy that mines only burn by pedaling and actually pulling the bikes on every jump. This things are awesome though. But a balance needs to be added otherwise they’ll become lazy when it comes to actual cycling.
