- In this tutorial I explain how to paint on Magic sculpt on a large scale sculpture. The sculpture was enlarged via a 3d scanner and a 5 axis CNC machine using EPS foam. The original sculpture was 8 inches tall. I go over various painting techniques - a lot of washes and dry brushing with acrylic, gouache and interference colors. I explain how to create a faux metal finish. I also show how to utilize the texture from the first tutorial, with a bit of dry brushing. I've linked some of the materials here:

If you'd like to learn about the scanning and foam carving enlarging process, you can find the first two tutorials in this series, under the "Sculpture Tutorials" Playlist. You can also find other Magic Sculpt tutorials under the "Stop Motion Sets and Puppets" and "Designer Toy Tutorials" Playlists. The next video in this series will show how to felt the surface using roving wool (the needle felting process). Stay tuned...
Thanks!

THATS FELTED?? I knew it looked soft and fluffy, but holy moly, felting such a big piece D:
next video will go over all my secret felting tricks :)
I love your content sooo creative 👏🏻❤️
Great video. Why use gouache? Since it never completely cures and can be rewetted with water at any time
yeah- I kinda stopped using it. But it does look way shinier that acrylic :)
Great!
I love them:)
Your MagicSculpt vids are answering questions I didn't know I had; MANY thanks for that! Can you tell me, though, did you have to prime the cured MagicSculpt at all before you painted it? If so, what primer did you use?
Jessica Edwards sometimes I primer it but it’s not necessary.
I'm in love with this material. What do you use to keep the paint colors in tact afterwards? Matte Spray?
Sometimes I'll use Krylon Matte spray- unless there's shiny or interference colors :)
Loooove the video. Suggestion: Move the camera slower when going over the textured/painted pieces. Super Cool Piece! D
