    IB vs. IGCSE IB and IGCSE has been a constant framework. Both are great curricular system with a different approach to the education. Here is a comparison so that parents and students can make the best choice: 1. IB or International Baccalaureate is a non-profit educational institution that was founded in 1968. Its programs are for children aged 3-19. It does not have any formal examinations. Instead, it issues certificates to students who fulfil their standards. IGCSE or the International General Certificate of Secondary Education is taken under the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). It has been offering international qualifications in over 160 countries. It is the international equivalents of the GCSE qualification of the British. It prepares students for further levels like A/AS level, BTEC Level 3, Cambridge Pre-U, IB Diploma Program and other certifications. Its certification is based on individual subjects. 2. The Programs offered by IB are: • Primary Year Program (PYP) for 3-12 years old • Middle Year Program (MYP) for 11-16 years old • IB Diploma for 16-19 years old • Career-related for 16-19 years old The Programs offered by the CIE are: • Primary for 5-11 years old • Secondary for 11-14 years old • Secondary 2 for 14-16 years old 3. IGCSE is often considered to be similar to the MYP of IB. The difference is that IGCSE is a made of curriculum statements while IB MYP is a framework. 4. IB is not a curriculum, but an education framework. The IGCSE is for a specific subject for a specific country. IB guide students through their Diploma programs for their graduation. Students get mastery in certain subjects. IGCSE, on the other hand, involves preparation for an examination for a prescriptive course. 5. IB is not a prescriptive curriculum. It can be moulded according to the administrator. The teachers control the needs of the students and the culture of the school. IGCSE gives a straightforward path on where to go for the tertiary education. Also, in IGCSE, certificates are externally graded. So, they have more accountability. The bodies responsible for assessments are Edexcel (London Examinations) and CIE. 6. In IB teachers have to design a curriculum and come up with the best method to deliver the lessons. It is good for teachers who want their curriculum to be designed in a specific manner. In IGCSE, teachers don’t have to create curriculum or resources for the students. 7. In India, there are about 132 schools offering IB curriculum and 310 schools following the curriculum of the Cambridge Advanced. 8. IB offers knowledge and experience in subjects selected by the students. They have to choose one subject from 6 different groups. This offers a lot of flexibility. There are some compulsory subjects like Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity Action Service. The IGCSE has over 70 subjects to choose from. 9. Both the boards emphasize on skill development, application of the knowledge and understanding of the subject rather than the students’ ability to memorize all the concepts and learning and recall it during an examination. 10. IB, as well as IGCSE, is a tough and demanding curriculum. They grade the students on the basis of all year assessments. Internal assessments keep the students on their feet a whole year. These assessments test the problem solving and oral skills of the students. They emphasize more on the development of the knowledge base. 11. IB doesn’t have any fixed textbooks. It provides flexibility to the students by providing recommended readings. IGCSE, on the other hand, provides recommended as well as prescribed readings. 12. Hello, and where do A-Levels fit in here?

    • @teachingpartner

      The IB Diploma is an alternative to A Levels for students aged 16-18 and requires no specific preparatory classwork, so can be undertaken directly from GCSEs. It offers a broad curriculum made up of six subject groups - students usually study three at a higher level and three at a standard level.

      Ultimately, the choice between IGCSE and IB for students aiming to attend universities in the United States depends on individual circumstances, academic strengths, and personal preferences. Both qualifications are recognized and can provide a strong foundation for further study. It's important for students to consider their specific goals and aspirations when making this decision.

    Can we change from ib to igcse in grade 6

    • @teachingpartner
      @teachingpartner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it is possible to transition from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) program in grade 6. The IGCSE program is a curriculum offered by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and is followed by many schools worldwide . If you are currently enrolled in the IB program and wish to switch to IGCSE, it is important to discuss this with your school and understand the requirements and procedures for making the transition. Each school may have its own policies regarding such transitions, so it's best to consult with your school administration for guidance.

    How do I become IB teacher

      Please read carefully
      To become an IB teacher, you will need to meet certain requirements and complete specific steps. Here are the general steps you can take to become an IB teacher:
      1. *Earn a Teaching Credential:* To become an IB teacher, you will need to have a teaching credential or a valid teaching license. This typically involves completing a bachelor's degree in education or a related field and obtaining a teaching certification or license in your country or state.
      2. *Gain Teaching Experience:* Most IB teachers start by gaining teaching experience in traditional classrooms. This experience helps develop the necessary skills and knowledge to teach in an IB school. Public school teachers usually need a minimum of a bachelor's degree and completion of a teacher preparation program.
      3. *Familiarize Yourself with the IB Program:* Familiarize yourself with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program by researching and learning about its principles, curriculum, and teaching methods. This will help you understand the unique aspects of the IB program and prepare you for teaching in an IB school.
      4. *Obtain IB Certification:* To become an IB teacher, you will need to obtain IB certification. The specific requirements for certification may vary depending on the country and region. Generally, to be eligible for an IB certificate program, you will need to possess a valid teaching license or be an expert teacher. Some certification programs may also require specific coursework or professional development.
      5. *Enroll in an IB Certification Program:* Enroll in an IB certification program offered by an IB-recognized university or educational institution. These programs are designed to provide teachers with the necessary training and knowledge to teach in an IB school. You can look for universities or institutions that offer IB educator certificate programs, either in-person or online.
      6. *Attend Workshops and Conferences:* As part of your IB certification, you may be required or encouraged to attend workshops and conferences related to IB education. These events provide opportunities to learn from experienced IB educators, share best practices, and stay updated on the latest developments in IB education.
      7. *Apply for IB Teaching Positions:* Once you have obtained your IB certification, you can start applying for teaching positions at IB-accredited schools. IB schools often prefer teachers with previous IB experience, so it can be beneficial to gain experience by working at an IB school or participating in IB-related activities.
      Remember that the specific requirements and processes for becoming an IB teacher may vary depending on your location and the school or organization you are applying to. It is always a good idea to check the official IB website and consult with local education authorities for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

      No, CBSE is a national board in India, IB is an international education board that offers programs to students from the ages of 3 to 19. Both educational systems have their own unique features, and choosing between them can be a daunting task for parents and students alike
