I remember being obsessed with Goethe and his poetry in high school. His poems are very eerie and dark. I recognised the similarity when I 'd listened to this song for the 1st time and I quickly fell in love. Good reaction! You have my sub
How Till gets some of his ideas/lyrics: "Some of the Tills lyrics are inspired by classical German literature. Poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe." Goethe's famous ballad Erlkönig, for ex. translated: Who rides so late through the night and the wind? It is the father with his child. He holds the boy safely in his arms; he holds him tight, he keeps him warm. The mood and rhythm of Goethe's poem are echoed in Rammstein's "Dalai Lama": An airplane lies in the evening wind On board is a man with a child They sit safely, sit warm And are lulled into falling asleep In Goethe's poem, a ghostly apparition, the King of the Elves, whispers seductively to the child and seeks to abduct him into his realm. At the end of the ballad, the son dies in the arms of his father on horseback. In the song "Dalai Lama" the"King of the Winds" aims to claim the boy,who finally dies in his father's arms, held too tightly in anticipation of an airplane crash.
Respect brother 👍 always good to see a genuine reaction and appreciation rather than somebody just doing it for the trend because Rammstein videos get a lot of views.
Hi bro, its a very amazing reaction from you ! What can i say about Rammstein, you know i love this band ! You have a place in my heart forever ! Greatings from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
TY for another great Rammstein reaction ! 🔥🔥🔥 I know I'm very late to this party.... It is just always so enjoyable to see people really enjoy themselves on their Rammstein journey and their discovery of the exhilarating dark magnificence (..as I like to call it...) that is the poetry and performances of Rammstein (LIVE and in video) ❤ Your reactions are engaging and very enjoyable.. so I Subbed a little while ago with pleasure ! 😸💥 ... I just wanted to add for those who don't know the poem Der Erlkönig - or didn't read the story here in the thread - In the main story layer the airplane might or might not have crashed but the horror is that the son died first quite grimly.. But in my opinion the second important layer is the other side of the coin - so my 2 cents... this is about how powerful Fear itself is.. (You see it everywhere how fear has poisoned the world ) and most of the time people don't realise how much harm they can inflict with their fear, especially your loved ones (the ones closest to you ) I think , the plane made it and the second important layer is the horror the father (or..the one that did something unthinkable in the grips of fear) must now face when realisation comes... which I could only imagine as the worst thing you could feel ... 💔 this was longer then I thought it would be..sry 😳... In any case .. Greetings from a long time Rammstein fan in Iceland ☺ Peace & Love 🤘💜
This song is based on a poem by J.W.Goethe. In 1782, of course, there were still no airplanes. Here is the old original: Erlkönig - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (english translation): ho's riding so late where winds blow wild It is the father grasping his child; He holds the boy embraced in his arm, He clasps him snugly, he keeps him warm. "My son, why cover your face in such fear?" "You see the elf-king, father? He's near! The king of the elves with crown and train!" "My son, the mist is on the plain." 'Sweet lad, o come and join me, do! Such pretty games I will play with you; On the shore gay flowers their color unfold, My mother has many garments of gold.' "My father, my father, and can you not hear The promise the elf-king breathes in my ear?" "Be calm, stay calm, my child, lie low: In withered leaves the night-winds blow." 'Will you, sweet lad, come along with me? My daughters shall care for you tenderly; In the night my daughters their revelry keep, They'll rock you and dance you and sing you to sleep.' "My father, my father, o can you not trace The elf-king's daughters in that gloomy place?" "My son, my son, I see it clear How grey the ancient willows appear." 'I love you, your comeliness charms me, my boy! And if you're not willing, my force I'll employ.' "Now father, now father, he's seizing my arm. Elf-king has done me a cruel harm." The father shudders, his ride is wild, In his arms he's holding the groaning child, Reaches the court with toil and dread. - The child he held in his arms was dead.
The song is basically a interpretation/adaptation of an old german poem called "Der Erlkönig", in english often (wrongly) translated to " The Elfking".
The song Dalai lama 8s about a man and his son going to see the boys mother and the mans wife for her birthday and get interrupted by some sky God and the God wants the man's chiled amd as desperately the father tries to hold on to his chiled and keep him safe as the plane is flying through the storm wants him... pretty much its about a plane crash through weather condition and the sky God represents death and takes his son from him in the tragedy. I'm don't want to make this an essay but yeah man looses his son in a plane crash pretty much
The lyrics are an adaption of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe‘s poem Der Erlkönig.
Beautiful song
Oh yes now that you mentioned it haha makes sense
very true!
@@kreeacts1112 What a tragic turn that its the father out of flight panic and fear that ends up choking his child to death.... wow.

This is the Rammstein adaption of the Alder-king.
