This little th-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Thank you for the step-by-step demonstration of your methods. Y'all are talented. We will have to look for a larger mold so there is more tub and less concrete. Might also want to fasten foam or place plywood blocking in the void areas to use less material and lighten the overall weight of the unit. We need to find a way to "roll" the edges rather than have such sharp edges. There are spouts available that are longer, though the splash-block idea could be do really cool to create a "waterfall" effect.
Looks sharp! That's an interesting solution to a short water supply and it gives it yet another point of interest. Nice job on the rich color and sealing
I have, for the longest time, wanted a complete concrete bathroom with River rock flooring... Your tub and sink are gorgeous! I wonder, what is used to clean it?
Beautiful concrete tub, the next level for this bathroom will be to cover wall and floor tiles with Microcement with a light pastel color. What do you think?
I would give it the benefit og the doubt and point out that the camera doesn't capture light realistically, but yes, if it's as yellow as it looks, that's a pretty unfortunate choice. It might help to install cold light in the bathroom.
I have a concrete tub, but it does get cold. Would be nice to have hot water circulation system in the floor in the winter time to warm it up. I love the extra space it affords me. It's like 2x as big as a normal tub. I had it finished with glass tile like a pool.
50 years into the future, the home has been sold, and the new homeowners want to renovate the bathroom. Joe Newhomeowner says, "No problem honey, I'll just yank this here cast iron tub out and . . . ARGH! MY BACK!"
You think it would be better to mold concrete bricks or slabs, at least around the inside edges. You could do a majority of the work outside, it would be easier to disassemble and repair, and if you made a mistake you would only need to remake a small port of the tub. My knowledge is limited so someone tell me if I'm wrong?
The sealer remains pretty much surface-level, right? Do you need to reapply it in any interval to counteract it rubbing off? What if small dents in the tub happen? Would not sealing them cause internal damage frin water soaking in?
Those fat grout lines at the joints and those 12x12 tiles look awful. Color is trash. Should have went with the same color scheme as the sink, and then 12x6 flat gray on a brick joint pattern. Light gray grout. If you want deco, do a picture frame with 6x6 squares on a diagonal. Really good rigging work though. Use a grout float to apply your slurry, you won't need to be scraped. And finally, buy a better spout and custom build an over the flow cover - I'd use stain for the above color scheme, copper for this brown.
Love the look, love the outcome! You use epoxy to help hold in the overflow drain bracket...but what if someone needs to replace the overflow hardware down the road to a different look (maybe black for example)? You admit that there are other ways of securing the screws into the tub, but when using epoxy, changing/repairing hardware down the road would be very difficult...if not impossible? Thanks, you do awesome work!
Mark Price wouldn't be that bad. Screw should come out as if it were screwed into hard plastic, though it may be difficult to get it started. you could use a release agent on the screw before applying epoxy, or you could use a different fastening method if you prefer. If there's a problem reinstalling it, it's easy enough to drill out the old epoxy.
bathtub looks too small for the average american. should have made it larger also the bathroom looks like its a candidate for remodeling already. a better finish would have been too add marble chips and polished it or just marble tile it
I agree you should have matched it to the sink....also the faucet should over hang the tub....who wants to wait hours for it to fill with that trickle diverter deal you have going??
Ed Floody Fill the tub up, get the concrete warmed up & refill with fresh hot water, the thermal mass will also hold the heat that it robbed from your water :) Hello long soaking baths.
Sigh . . . nice idea, but trouble shooting will be a beast. I would get a new longer faucet, that looks like it would make a mess if the water was turned to high. A lot of work and a beautiful product.
Really nice work. Horrendous tiles and faucets don't do it justice. Also, the dark stain and glossy sealer are pretty horrible. I like the countertop better, or just gray or white. I don't know why people try to make concrete look like stone. It's much cooler as concrete.
I've had those overflow plate brackets waste away over the years so I'm not a fan of using epoxy on those screws. Plastic anchors would suffice and give future generations an easy repair!
wife says she wants a tub to soak in... man conceptualizes tub... conceptualizes tub out of 50lb bags of concrete..hard work, blood sweat tears..breaks back trying to yank out tub mold.. stains it.. comes out looking BITCHIN' .... wife comes in.. says "looks good" proceeds to take her 2 annual baths per year.... people take to tha TUBE to talk shit and give their 2 cents... lol.. that is one awesome tub and sink though.. great job brother
Epoxy for the waste / overflow screws? Surely no plumber will EVER curse you for that. no...and that tub spout - really? You *do* realize that if you open up a REAL plumbing parts catalog, you will find some HUGE spouts made for hot tubs and such.
Would have been funnier if you'd installed it on a top floor and as you were taking video of the finished product it crashed through the floorboards. Joking aside, I appreciate the effort and enjoyed the video but just seems a lot of work, a lot of concrete and inflexibility. For me anyway.
The 1970's called, they want their porno tub back! I pity the poor bastard that has to remove this thing these days. In 2013, it was kinda cool, 2020 it's now way beyond dated.
That has t be the ugliest tub I have ever seen , and the spout run off tray looks like it was made to repair the mistake for the non reaching spout !! You guys should have caught the mistake on the install , and or better planning..I definitely would have not paid for that tub , rip it out and do it again correctly.....!

Outstanding craftsmanship!
Your family should be mighty proud of your skils
My heart was pumping when you were drilling the holes, I was so scared!!
beautiful. Going to be building all my own monster sized tubs thanks to you!
Make a youtube video on it, would be interesting to watch.
been looking for the right sealer to use for my outdoor concrete hottub idea. Thanks a million!
Thank you for the step-by-step demonstration of your methods. Y'all are talented.

Love it I'll be helping my boyfriend build one in our container home thanks for this information video looks so nice great job
I have, for the longest time, wanted a complete concrete bathroom with River rock flooring... Your tub and sink are gorgeous! I wonder, what is used to clean it?
that is a beautiful finished product. thanks for such nice tutorial!
Do you have to run the bath very hot due to heat loss from trying to warm all that concrete?
Beautiful concrete tub, the next level for this bathroom will be to cover wall and floor tiles with Microcement with a light pastel color.
What do you think?
Cool tub! Too bad the rest of the bathroom finishing sucked big time. They couldn't have chosen a worse tile pattern for that space.
+Ricardo Junqueira Agreed. There is just something that looks off in that bathroom
I would give it the benefit og the doubt and point out that the camera doesn't capture light realistically, but yes, if it's as yellow as it looks, that's a pretty unfortunate choice.
It might help to install cold light in the bathroom.
it was 2013
So inspiring! Thank's for the very thorough "walk through" video. But why didn't you make it deeper and bigger ?
I have a concrete tub, but it does get cold. Would be nice to have hot water circulation system in the floor in the winter time to warm it up. I love the extra space it affords me. It's like 2x as big as a normal tub. I had it finished with glass tile like a pool.
Make a video on it. sound interesting.
It says and shows the sealer used in the video- Rocktop CT and the Rocktop Primer
I love that you shared this ! Thank you! where did you buy the tub mold?
50 years into the future, the home has been sold, and the new homeowners want to renovate the bathroom. Joe Newhomeowner says, "No problem honey, I'll just yank this here cast iron tub out and . . . ARGH! MY BACK!"
Impressive. Not my colour patterns, but nice idea. Quick question: I am presuming that the concrete will keep the flange in place, without erosion?
How do you clean the tub? Wouldn't bleach eat away the sealer coatings?
You think it would be better to mold concrete bricks or slabs, at least around the inside edges. You could do a majority of the work outside, it would be easier to disassemble and repair, and if you made a mistake you would only need to remake a small port of the tub. This is exactly what I want for an outdoor bathtub.
The sealer remains pretty much surface-level, right? Do you need to reapply it in any interval to counteract it rubbing off? What if small dents in the tub happen? Would not sealing them cause internal damage frin water soaking in?
Does it need to be resealed after a certain amount of years?
The tub looks smallish. How thick did you make the concrete?
How come you didnt use topcoat after primer?
beautiful artwork, thanks for sharing.
how often does it have to be resealed?
Will the chemicals used in this bath not cause health problem like skin cancer have you ever thought of the effect when used with hot water.
Beautiful! I'd love to have one! Well done!!!
Quite creative, suppose guess spent funds how to make her?
How long will the sealer last?
this is art
Very nice work, thanks for the video
beautiful work!
Gosh, I would love it if you could come to Israel and do some work here
What is the Dimension of the bath tub end to end?

love the petals at the end lol who were they for huh? :D

How much did you guys spend in materials alone?
+Guillermo Rosman about 7 dollars
bagaimana cara agar terdapat bintik putih seperti batu marmer di menit 3:45?
Where can I buy a tub mold?
bathtub looks too small for the average american. should have made it larger also the bathroom looks like its a candidate for remodeling already. a better finish would have been too add marble chips and polished it or just marble tile it
Lol. It's a rather large tub by European standards.
I agree you should have matched it to the sink....also the faucet should over hang the tub....who wants to wait hours for it to fill with that trickle diverter deal you have going??
wow
good job well done awesome bath
Fabulous!!
Very Good Job.
Gorgeous!
would it suck a lot of heat out of ur hot water right?
Way to think it through. Run some radiant tubing around the tub and attach it to a solar heater.
Ed Floody Fill the tub up, get the concrete warmed up & refill with fresh hot water, the thermal mass will also hold the heat that it robbed from your water :) Hello long soaking baths.
Jerry Hutchens waste of water.
varun009 We have plenty in TN. Bigger wider deeper tub for me! Tub for two even!
rucussing Unless you had a system that recycled the unused water for use in a garden or something it's still a waste.
What sealer did you use?
Sigh . . . nice idea, but trouble shooting will be a beast. I would get a new longer faucet, that looks like it would make a mess if the water was turned to high. A lot of work and a beautiful product.
How much does that weigh?
+LoneKnight6212 About 9 Lbs
9 lbs? Probably closer to 12lbs

lmao hahha
i imagine how bad of a nightmare it would be if the plumbing gone to shit

how many of these would the world have if MEN didn't build them, , , , , ? Women have the talking part done.
hope you never have a problem with that waist and over flow will be kind of hard to replce.... just sain
Good Job!
guarantee that splash block doesnt contain the water when the faucet is fully open
It may just be me but I thought the bath tub looks as inviting as a mortuary slab
That tile job leaves a LOT to be desired-look at that corner joint! Nice tub, though........
Should have done like the sink
you made a great but the design of bathroom is terrible
buenisimo
respekt ! awesome !
If you fall in this bathtub, you could break every bones.
Do you break bones easier in cement tubs versus normal tubs?
cool but I bet it's cold

Everything is mismatched
ماشاء الله
It is a great tub, F the haters. Its a Bathroom a place to shit and shower.
that looks like a taco bueno bathroom
Concrete seems to steal to much heat from the water to be honest, i never liked our old concrete tub.
Just wear a hoodie while you're bathing.
Eu quero ganhar dinheiro
Interesting way of doing it,but horrible taste...
The 1970's called, they want their porno tub back! I pity the poor bastard that has to remove this thing these days. In 2013, it was kinda cool, 2020 it's now way beyond dated.
too much work for nothing what if the wife wants a new bath tub because she doesn t like the color ^^ ?
+Davius Lepremier Get a new wife?
Can be repainted a different color. Gorgeous tub.
you cant paint it duh
Design and color not good . A lot of work for a bath tub.
You could have lightened the load and the use of concrete by throwing in little amphoras, etc. The Romans did it first, the Romans did it best. lol
как в гробнице Тутонхомона!
You're well and truly fucked if the seals aren't perfect. Personally I think it looks awful.
Looks like an incredibly toxic job.
toxic bath for years
