Hello, just found your channel. Very informative, It’s amazing to me how you’re able to do such fine delicate work, and know how it all goes back together once you start taking things apart. I have the Mens quartz Tango GMT that I bought recently and love it. I also have a Alpina Seastrong GMT diver, quartz that has problems. It keeps time fine when it’s sitting in my watch case. However when I wear it, it starts to lose time immediately, 10 minutes a day roughly. I had the battery replaced and the jeweler said that the battery was still strong and that I should send it back to factory for repair.. he didn’t say what he thought the problem was. Anyway, thank you for this video, I’m going to subscribe to your channel and keep watching.

I recently bought an Invicta quartz watch that happened to be beautiful. Then I bought a GMT quartz watch. I noticed that no matter what you do; if you coat it in gold, stud it with diamonds, and put a European sounding name; quartz watches seem to crash in value. A big store sells a ton of them for $40, and they all look good. Then in the middle of the mall, the prices vary wildly with small vendors; but mostly stay under $200. Only manual and automatic hold their value; in spite of the fact that the crappiest quartz watch will keep the time better than any expensive watch.
It dawned on me that it's totally about jewelry; and people are buying a visible "perpetual motion machine" because of how obviously hard they are to make. I suppose a mechanical computer would hold its value in a similar way.
But then I saw a video on how quartz watches actually work: a 2^15 hz quarts tuning fork that has electricity going through it and is stepped down with 14 flip-flops (signal toggle from 0 to 1), to tick each second. It would be equally miraculous if you could really see its inner workings.
