This comment is to the religious leadership, government of Jamaica, the opposition party and my fellow Jamaican people. I made a comment once and everyone jump on me. I am from rural Jamaica, and I had mentioned that I never experience r**ism until I came to the U.S. The response was that I was a liar and hypocrite! From I was in elementary school, I learned that we are "Out Of Many One People." Frankly, growing up I never experienced r**ism in Jamaica. So, when I hear about Black Jamaican, White Jamaican, Chinese Jamaican and Indian Jamaican please someone educate me "where and about when did these transitions take place in Jamaica? I thought that we were ALL JAMAICANS FIRST and foremost. First, my condolences to the Shaw family. Second, to the leadership in Jamaica --this CANNOT continue. Third, economic development and the rule of law must develop side by side (Jamaica must protect its judiciary and build a Supermax prison, offshore to get crime a violences under control); if not Jamaica is doomed. (Because no civil society cand function and advance WITHOUT THE RULE OF LAW AND THE FAIR ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE). As a people we have so much talent and potential. Third, it is written: "Righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any people." (see Proverbs 14:34); and it is God and Christ that created "law enforcement" to stem the tide of evil until Christ comes again. Because no matter what you do some men will remain evil. Note the powers that be are from God and Christ (see Matthew 28:18 and Romans 13:1). This situation falls squarely on the shoulders of the Jamaican religious leaders, the government and the prominent men and women of Jamaicia who have the "public platform". The God of heaven is not going to excuse you! Like the ancient city of Nineveh (see Jonah 3:4), Jamaica still has "time" to change its course.

Let me help you out here family. I am from rural Jamaica too and I said the same thing and got called a liar and cussed out, LOL. I went to Knox from prep school days to high school so I was among fellow students and teachers from all races and all walks of life. My Chinese friend we called chinna man, and my indian friend we called bad Indian and my really dark skinned black friend we called blacka and our white friend we called yellow man, LOL, I kid you not, but none of us knew about racism until I left Jamaica and came to the USA. I think what happened was that we were young and did not notice it yet but it was there waiting for us to discover and as we got older it became more apparent that some people are treated better on the island than others because of their race. In the end though, color does not define a Jamaican because we have always had Jamaicans of all colors or races. Sad to see this new development but apparently it is not that new.

Jamaica was always a racist, colorist society. Michael Manley tried to change it, but it still continues. When I lived in Jamaica (until 1970), the banks didn't have any dark skin people in it. They literally advertised for the kind of color people they were looking for.

When you hear people tell you that if only the government would only pay teachers and nurses more money they would stay in Jamaica you know the level of their dishonesty. So things like this incident dont factor into their decisions to leave Ja? Do you think 1400 Jamaicans lose their lives like this overseas in a year? Isnt the logical thing to do is try not to be in Jamaica where you stand a high chance of being in the next 1400? You dont think if the gangs decide tomorrow to do what is taking in place in Haiti they cant do it? The journalists are all quiet but I recall not long ago an incident in a car park with one of their numbers.

In my experience of working with PDs, one cannot change their behaviour, they have to do this themselves. Often they do not and grow with the same mentality. No amount of medication can change them either, it would seem.

Very accurate analysis of the psychological condition of so many people in Jamaica. I think the same situation applies to a large population of people in the USA, including "Black" Americans. Your comments about "normalized dysfunction" are spot on! The "Black" community in the US is very guilty of normalizing all sorts of dysfunctional beliefs and behavior. Rap music, which Jamaica has had the wisdom to ban, is one of the ways of programming people to normalize destructive behavior. I believe that psychological disorders are rampant in "Black" people in the US, Jamaica, Africa, and elsewhere. People from other groups, especially the dominant society, also have serious mental disorders that need to be but are not being addressed. Again, you are correct that this situation is EVERYBODY"S PROBLEM.

One hundred million dollar rewards will solve this crime. If Katyl can pay one hundred million dollars to be freed, why the family cannot pay this kind of money to find perpetrators. Even now the prime Minister mouth is closed on this issue of contract killing. We need laws to put in place, for criminal to put justice.

I was in Jamaica 5 months ago I rented a car and was driving around , when I stop at the Devon House in St Ann’s with my cousin , the place was empty , we where going to eat on the patio but then I saw a guy walked in with his face and head covered like Arab , the only thing you could see was his 2 eyes and my first thought is , that’s not normal so I was side eyeing him and it seems like he knows the girl that work there because I watch the eye contact between them so I said to my cousin to let’s go into the car and eat the ice cream but then 2 more guys walk in their face wasn’t covered but they look suspicious so I pull out from Devon House and drove next door into Kentucky parking lot because it was busy , then the 2 boy walk over into the Kentucky parking lot and straight away a police jeep pulled in into Kentucky and park next to us because they were going into Kentucky when they saw the police veh. they took off , I was so glad to see the police , no joke because I felt like those guys were up to no good ! I am the type of person who always try to be observant of my surroundings! They using Dean Shaw to send an example that it doesn’t matter who you are they will get you but watch and see how fast that case will solve because he’s white ! Hmm 🤔
