In our current society, the child that shouted; "The Emperor is wearing no clothes!" would be labelled a Royal Garment Denier!

'The terms left and right increasingly don't mean anything."
"Environmentalism is a counter enlightenment movement."
Erasmus Darwin (1731-1802) said, “Such is the condition of organic nature! whose first law might be expressed in the words 'Eat or be eaten!'".
Great guest and podcast. These three observations pure gold.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. - Thomas Sowell

Dave O'Toole is quite right that Labour is not the Labour party of old. What he may have missed from being too close to the Labour party is that this uni-party in the UK is the result of former Labour prime minister Tony Blair’s government reforms (starting 1998). Politicians now have to follow judges, NCOs, quangos, expert panels, etc. David Starkey the historian, explains it well on his YT channel.
Watch: _"How Labour Broke Britain by David Starkey"_
Former Tory prime minister Lizz Truss has explained the reality of it in her new interview with Peter McCormack.
Dominic Cummings who was adviser to prime minister Boris Johnson has also explained in interviews who really hold the power in modern UK government. Blair's stupid, foolish and idiotic reforms must be undone before we sink below the waves. Then we can look forwards to a true Labour Party.

Unfortunately PM Starmer is another lawyer who thinks our betters should make the rules we live by and democracy just gets in the way. He is even more dangerous than Blair because he is even more Marxist

Great to see a fellow Brit of the old school, use common sense and look after the people, left. I was once left, but not so much now but seeing this gives me hope that decent people of all sides can find common cause. Well done Dave O’Toole. Clearly a man of integrity not afraid to say what needs to be said.

If you’re in Britain please ask your MP to vote against the Climate and Nature bill, which has a 2nd reading tomorrow, Friday Jan 24.

I looked at the Zero Hour web site and they have nearly 300 MP’s that they claim support the bill. I am really worried about this bill.

@ And now it’s the day of the 2nd reading. Is there any chance that sanity will prevail?☹️

I work for a food distribution company and we buy products from the EU that are shipped from countries like China. Things like Sunflower Seeds, Chick Peas etc. If this bill passes and we ban imports of goods from other countries that use transport fuelled by oil then people will lose their jobs and people may starve. This is lunacy of the highest order!

@@Fran-ey4bu My MP is Kerry McCarthy who is the minister for climate and fusion power of all things. Ive met her and I told her that climate change is natural which of course she strongly disagreed with. I also spoke to her about Ball lightning technology and cavitation as she is the fusion minister. I wrote to her twice and she basically fobbed me off by saying she “trusts her experts”

@ My MP is a Lib, David Chadwick, who hasn’t replied. But…hopeful sign? A poll in today’s Times on line ‘Are we moving too fast towards Net Zero?’ 68% of readers have replied ‘Yes’.

English is most certainly not a "bastard language". It is a solidly Germanic language and its entire grammar comes from the Germanic branch of languages. Something like half its vocabulary comes from French, mainly because of the cultural reach of Provencal in the 14th and 15th centuries. Its own cultural reach has resulted in many more words coming from other languages, though almost none from Gaelic. All languages 'borrow' words from other languages, English more than most, but that does not alter their basic structure.
