About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first TH-cam channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!
Something else to mention is it's Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro autonomous region rather than the province of Cotabato next door (which is a bit confusing that Cotabato City isn't even in Cotabato). The Bangsamoro of today has been years in the making and it's great to see the progress the region has made from being war-torn to prosperous and promoting peace. People outside the Philippines don't realize that the country is not just a Christian one but rather a multi-cultural country like the US!
The reactions in the crowds were priceless! Being able to visit new places and unleash your magic even when your back is hurting is an exhilarating experience! Be proud of how many hearts you've warmed with your voice!

More specifically, the Moro people are the ones who are Muslims, and in the Philippines, they live not just in western Mindanao where Cotabato is but also the Sulu archipelago between Mindanao and Borneo. The Moro historically had their own sultanates like the Sultanate of Maguindanao from 1520 to 1905 that made up western Mindanao and the Sultanate of Sulu from 1457 to 1918 that made up the area of Sulu as well as Sabah in what is now Malaysia and North and East Kalimantan in what is now Indonesia. The Moro are historically tough people as they have a 400-year long history of resisting foreign rule against the Spanish, American, Japanese, and Filipino governments.

I'm in love with those sarongs, very beautiful! I think it's super thoughtful to provide something like that for guests, very hospitable. Watching RJ decorate is really satisfying. Great choices, things look very beautiful, very lux and super homey. That outdoor furniture is really cool, I think it really matches the vibe of the house. Sheer genius having those colored chairs in those spare bedrooms. I think it just ties the whole theme together, nice touch!
So many changes at the house in just a day, incredible! I'm excited to see your plans for the dog run. Great idea to have a dog bath tub in your run, that'll come in so handy. OMG, Sahara is really getting out now that your Mom is visiting, that's so funny! Poor thing, she looks so pooped after coming back home. It just makes me so happy to see.
Mikey, with your bees maybe have pepper plants (like habanero or ghost pepper) for them to polinate and have the peppers flavor the honey, you could make your own crazy honey.
Wow, that's a lot of "life" happening that early in the morning. I find I do my best work very early too. I could get used to the lifestyle of early morning shopping at the market for the days meals and such. That would be an awesome vacation for me. So much activity in the aviary early morning, I'm sure you're in heaven with how great all that has worked out.
I'm laughing at your comment about cooking everyday. For me, I'd love to have family to cook for everyday. Those are the best times in my opinion. Making die-lishus food and surprising folks with home made chocolate chip cookies, LOL... for me, that's just a slice of heaven. I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree about durian fruit... but that's OK, LOL. I think I'd get along well with your Mom. We'd be a couple old ladies sharing recipes and "arguing" over how much spice to put in the soup, LMAO!

The pollinators are gonna have a field day with all the new plants for the garden. And that noisy bird that you heard was the Collared Kingfisher. That bird you saw on the fence was indeed a Shrike, specifically a Brown Shrike. Come May, they will be flying back to Mainland Asia to breed, but they will be back in the country when September comes around. The Long-tailed Shrikes that you spotted several times back when the house was still in construction are resident and aren't migratory.
Oh, these shrikes are migratory?!!! How awesome!
@@MikeyBustosVLOGS there are surprisingly a lot of small bird species that migrate to and from the asian mainland and the philippines, with the brown shrike being only one of them. The brown shrikes must be starting to get busy fattening up for their migration back to the mainland. It might even be eyeing the Eurasian Tree Sparrows that have started to visit your garden in large flocks.

I think it will be a great idea for you to have a GUEST BOOK , since your HOME will house a lot of future guests , then you’ll
have a record of who came , how long they stayed and tell them to write something about their favorite part of the house….
And through the years , you can look back at that guest book and see the
list and their comments .
It will be a part of your mabuhay Farm house documentary ….

it really is amazing how plants can transform a space from good to awesome. kudos to Ate Jun and her team! once again, i am commending also the workers for the pool and on the dog run, they are fast! cackling at lola Bustos, she is now negotiating more bonding time with Sahara. i swear if you and RJ decide to have a kid or kids of your own, lola and lolo Bustos would definitely not just negotiate but demand to spend time with their apo 😆

I won't be surprised if your parents come to stay regularly in your home for a long vacations. Your place is an oasis, a great place and peaceful to stay. I am sure you can harvest some yams. Yes, the leaves are nutritious, you can also put them on sinigang.

Hi Mikey! My grandson was 3 and my granddaughter was 2 when I started following your vlogs … they’re are now 8 and 7. And you had first got “Ligaya”. We enjoy watching your vlogs … keep up the good work!! I live in Hawaii (the island that is known as The Big Island). I see that you planted some Plumeria trees … a beautiful flower. And, yes a lot of us women wear it in our hair. There are different colors … red, orange, pink with yellow, but the most common one is the yellow. It grows very well in tropical climate. I think it’ll grow very well there in the Philippines. We also have Hibiscus and you can use the buds to make a Hibiscus syrup to use in drinks and make lemonade. Starbucks had a drink called Very Berry Hibiscus. I hope this info. is helpful to you.

The purple flowers are called, "Forget me not." We had those flowers in our garden in Bicol when I was little...a long-time ago. The 🦋 butterflies love those flowers. Nice different varieties of plants you have. I couldn't wait to see your Shangri-la finished. 🥰🥰🥰

I love it Mikey when you said that you will build a chicken coop.... Maybe you can turn that adjacent lot you bought to be your farm livestock paradise where you will filled it up with chicken, goats, ducks, pigs and a fishpond at the bottom close to the creek, enough for your family and workers consumption, so that you don't need to buy frozen foods and you can also help more people by adding more workers at your farm... and maybe you could also plant fruit trees around that lot by twos , all kinds of your favorite fruit including durian which is RJ's favorite too... wow... that will make your farm self sufficient for you and all of your family and staff... you can also buy another lot for your cows ..how is that... everything in just one place...oh what a dream farm .. I wish I can be as lucky as you are guys ... I love farming too....a gardener in my own style ...love your farm and your house...

We are decorating and slowly adding things to it but my passion is PLANTS! maybe you could connect a drip watering system from your harvested water to water plants, it’s super efficient! You can attract more birds coming into your garden if you feed then the broken raw rice. You can buy a sack of broken ganandor raw rice and just spread it in the area that you want them to visit everyday. Chiose the right spot where to feed them. Feed them early in the morning at 6 am , 11 am and 3:30 pm.

Beautiful flowers and plants. Love the varigated money plant. Your mom's cooking is over the top with the crab omelette and wonton soup. Looks so yum. Your mom's swollen ankle and feet don't look good. Poor circulation is the result of heart problems. Please have your mom follow up with a cardiologist there. Compression socks may help her but normally the edema is treated with meds. She has been so busy on her feet cooking and entertaining. I hope she gets some rest, too. Love your vlogs. Take Care of your back too.

Tilapia and Lotus plants are beautiful in your pond. It's not high maintenance. The Lotus flowers are lovely. The Tilapia are edible and decorative, including the Turtle. Think about it. Good luck.

Hi guys, regarding your dog run: you might look into getting some shade cloth or shade mesh to put over part of it. We have used it over part of our patio when we lived in California. We have also used it over part of our Chicken run to give a shady place for the birds when it is warm.That would give the dogs a place to be in the shade without having to go in the doghouse. All your foods and plants are so interesting. It was nice to see some of RJ's relatives too. Take care, Gloria 🐂

Mikey - When you perform, why don’t you wear a back brace? It’s just stiffened fabric (about a foot tall) that wraps around your waist and fastens snugly with Velcro. I’ve used one for years when my back is injured, but I have to do something that might make me re-injure myself. (Like repeatedly twisting to get in and out of a car.). They’re not uncomfortable and provide just enough support so it’s less painful to move. It also reminds you that you’re injured so you’re more careful how you move. I’m sure your therapy clinic could help you get one. ❤
