When I was in Japan in a Karaoke bar, a Japanese man ask me to sing ANAK in tagalog since he only heard it in Japanese, he likes to hear the original song. He like it very much.
I’m so proud of your nation. Your song was translated into 27 languages (probably much more than that). I first heard this song when I was in my teens and that's 38 years ago.
What are the 27 languages? So far, I've found Filipino, Malay, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Japanese, Korean, English, Spanish, German, Italian and Finnish.
The reason why a lot of people in different countries wanted to translate and made a translation of this song in their own language is because the message is true wherever you go.
Thats probably the most iconic song from the Philippines....it talks of kids(Anak) going astray, yet thru it all, the parents still love them to the very end...
I was in a Catholic church in The Hague, (Scheveningen) in 1981 when I heard the choir singing a familiar tune. I then realized it was "Anak" in Dutch. I felt proud that this beautiful song with even more beautiful lyrics resonated in Europe. I was alone and could not tell anyone that the song was from my country. I will be visiting The Hague again within 2 months to celebrate a postponed 40th year reunion. Thank you for this video. It gave me the idea to visit the Salvatore brothers in that church which was beside the place where I once stayed as a student.
Anak means in Indonesian language also "child" .me, by birth an Indonesian and living till now in The Netherlands, hearing this song in the 70's. Though never knew the message of the song it's touched me in that time. A melancholic song and gladly never happen with my own children!
The theme of the song "Anak" in all its content speaks of life and spirit of a family thru a child that brings a message that transcend beyond culture and race. Epic piece of music that touches the heart and soul what life is all about that we must live by in the good nature of humanity.
Thanks for uploading. I remember the song from it was a hit at the end of the 70's. I love this version and although I don't speak Filipino, I still like that version better. You feel all the feeling behind the lyrics from the orginal by Freddie Aguilar and it goes right to your heart. Even without knowing the meaning....
You said it very correctly. I too don't speak Filipino. The sound of Freddie's words, the music, the tune create a mysterious feeling and it is deeply penetrating. Freddie is trying to say something right into my heart
am filipino heard this on japanese version on japanese tv sung by a woman, though i dont understood the rithym was familiar. kanji words flashing on the screen english alphabet "anak" was shown. made me proud.
They were all silent as in shock what the message brings they were all concentrating that goes goosebumps ... the song goes thru their heart n soul remembering parents hardship raising a child so touching
This is beautiful. I was playing this at work then I saw someone drive by and stopped. I thought he wanted something from me but he motioned to the speaker. I guess he was trying to figure out what language was that? Thanks for sharing.
i remember while I'm in Zurich International Aiport going back home for a vacation as an OFW they are playing "ANAK" by Fredie Aguilar thru pipe-in music... that was in '83. 😊
hi marami salamat/thank you very much for the share video on here alam ko/i know the song so long time and the meaning but never heared it in my language dutch is very beautiful song and meaning i understand and can speak tagalog too what i learned .bedankt voor het delen in youttube .ingat ka lagi/take care always
She nailed it very good version of this amazing singer ...audiences was carried away by the strong message for both parents and child salute to the interpretation by the good singer
Wow, very nice rendition of the song. I live in Germany and never heard it in German yet but ONLY in Tagalog on the local radio station. Thanks for sharing kabababayan! Schoene gruesse aus Bonn.
beautiful lady, she captivated everyone with her voice & probably the lyrics. you can see the sad, guilt in their reaction, some had tears, some on the verge of crying, some goose skin, wow.
No it's not the 1st price but the judges favored Kay Ganda ng Musika by Haji Alejandro because Freddie was a new comer in the music industry but fate made song Anak became worldwide hit. Anak was a blonder song for Metro-Manila Pop music festival especially to the judges
Thanks for uploading.. I was called by my boss in his office and I was wondering why, did I do something bad 😂. But no he said you are a Filipino and I guess u know this song.. So he said can you sing for me ANAK in tagalog. So I was shocked 😮 so i said I try sir but I am not a good singer. He said this is my favorite song and this song was translated so many languages . That time I didn't know that ANAK is that famous. So I sang Anak infront of my boss, btw my boss was Singaporean.
zalig nummer, ik hou van het origineel maar de boodschap is zo waar , ang kantang ito ay napaka lungkot, maganda at nagkatotoo very nice cover , its an epic song
I'm from Suriname former Dutch colonial and the song Anak was also populair in my country.

@gunawanloupaty8335 duterte will be arrested and will be put on trial in hague for the crimes he committed against his own people.
