Really enjoying your vids! I find that the no-BS presentation is very informative and relatable, and the attention to detail - especially the ones that matter - is outstanding. What a great resource for anyone who owns or is looking to buy a Colt revolver.
@@TerryBenton My pleasure. 🍻 Unlike many of the huge channels - where too often the presenter will parrot debunked myths or simply make stuff up on the fly when they lack knowledge in a given subject - I have never once felt that watching one of your videos has been a waste of my time. Case in point: I just watched one by Honest Outlaw that had about a dozen items of misinformation within its five minutes of actual content, and he’s not even close to the worst offender when it comes to being frequently and confidently wrong. I also appreciate that yours don’t open with a cheesy hype-up intro using the same generic-stadium-rock soundtrack that pretty much every other firearms channel has. 😄
@@TerryBenton I think Colt will do it because the Trooper always was a popular model and the 2024 Viper is basically a small-frame version of this gun. All Colt would have to do is take a Python frame with a half-lug bottom and a no-vent solid top barrel and there is your new Trooper.
@@smithn.wesson495 Viper is based on the police positive and uses a u-spring, which all of their guns currently do. Trooper uses a coil spring. There's a pretty large mechanical difference.
👍 Nice pair! You mentioned that the Python frame is beefier than the Trooper frame- does Colt have a number or letter system for the different frame sizes. The Trooper looks comparable to a K frame ( M 19) S&W while the Python looks similar in size to L frame 586/686.
Thank you for checking the revolvers! I live in constant fear that some careless youtube guy will shoot me through my monitor. That being said... good vid as usual and... I actually envy you on the Trooper build lol.. I have both an original Python (1969) and Trooper (70's) both in blue and 6" My Trooper is the coil spring gun and not as smooth as the Python. Finish is worn on the Trooper. One thing... I am a HUGE advocate for patridge front sights. Stock the Trooper had a better front sight than the Python. it is a 'semi' patridge looking like many 1911 front sights these days. I bought and installed an OEM Python patridge front sight on my Python... Pythons have two pins while the trooper has one. All high end revolvers like a Korth use the patridge... because.... you simply can shoot the patridge FAR more accurately a ramp is good for... well.... nothing really. While on the 'modifying' or butchering depending on how someone thinks.... My Trooper is beat up a bit and I happened to have some real stag grips probly worth what the gun is worth... they were round butt. now my Trooper is (gasp) round butt. I have ground off the ugly extended beavertail on my Kimber 1911... like you I don't care what people think although your Trooper is to me a masterpiece
@@MrKadidle51 they are not even close. They have the coild spring action sort of like the old king cobra and Anacondas. Good guns but not nearly as smooth
My hope; since colt is making revolvers again, Colt should bring out a Colt Revolver chambered in .45 colt. I feel like there’s not many double action revolvers in .45 colt. The only ones that come to mind is Smith&Wesson 25 (classic), their Governor model, and Taurus with theirJudge (basically a SW Governor) or Ruger’s RedHawk So a new production colt Double action revolver in .45 colt would be nice. They can either chamber the anaconda in the cartridge or redesign the New Service
Interesting to learn Colt technical words. I know S&W technical words. Always trying to make a comparison list of revolvers from each company. It's very hard and not exactly directly transferable. There is nothing made by Colt that is like the S&W "J" frame, 5-shot revolvers. And the S&W "X" frame revolvers. That big S&W-500 revolver is too big for practical use anyways. Rather have a .44-magnum from any revolver maker than a S&W-500. I am learning Taurus descriptions too. Would be interesting to have a criss-cross listing of all the revolvers. So far Korth, Spohr and Manurhin comparison listings are easy. They only make a .357-magnums and .44-magnums. The only issue with European revolvers that would it be better to math them in the "L" frame class or the "N" frame categories.
They have the colt cobra and detective special that is similar to the j frames. The colt anaconda is not far off fro. The x frame. It is not quite as big but it is bigger by far than a smith N frame. Thanks for watching
I own a 1969 manufactured Colt Trooper 357 When I saw the pistols I knew that the pistol being displayed as a Trooper was wrong. It is NOT original. I lost interest in the rest of the video......
Enjoy your videos....but please don't feel the need to appease the Karens out there by showing that your handguns are unloaded. I for one trust you have done that before you started the vid. And if you haven't, it's your vid...you can do it as you please.
It is required by youtune or they will not recommend it. It is stupid. If you can tell I am always sarcastic about it. TH-cam is a silicone valley based liberal company. Lol. You should see all the comments about me pointing a gun at my head. They do not understand that it is a camera amd not my head. Thanks for watching.

Nice TH-cam channel man. Wish stuff like this was more popular as a younger guy into all guns instead of just newest plastic stuff.
Thank you! I am interested in all types of firearms. Glad to see there are others thst appreciate other stuff also besides polymer wonders. Lol
Now that Colt has come out with a new Viper, Grizzly and Kodiak......hopefully, in the near future, a new Trooper will be available as well.
A new trooper would be awesome

The bridged barrel doesn't match up to the top of the receiver but it looks very nice , the refinish Bluing looks very good.
@TheLoneRanger745 thank you. It is not perfect, but it is better than what I started with

How are the Colt Trooper mk3 vs Python in quality and price? Not the new Pythons. Old school
I think the mk3 is an early 80s model if that matters
