- Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch has said she “will not shut up” after David Tennant suggested she should at the British LGBT Awards.
Ms Badenoch accused the ex-Doctor Who actor of being a “rich, lefty, white male celebrity so blinded by ideology” in a post to social media website X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

We need to ditch the RAINBOW. Nature vs nurture used to be debated sensibly. I think so many children of celebrities are confused about their gender/change their gender because they are brought up in an unreal environment. With the explosion of social media, woke television programmes/films, this has changed the environment for all children entering mainstream school. A few weeks ago it was reported how one school had an after school rainbow club for trans children. But there was no club for children who were not trans. This does not make sense because children want to belong so of course they will say anything to be able to go to a club with their friends. Rainbow colours are attractive to children - it should not be used as a magnet to draw in all children.

Tennant is missing the point of what Badenoch said. Like JK Rowling, she is not denying trans people the right to identify however they wish, and to be respected by society for their choice. What they, and others, are saying is that in the process of standing on their own rights they do NOT have the right to make natural women feel disenfranchised, disrespected or uncomfortable. They can't just force themselves on a pre-existing group, which is historically vulnerable (eg women) and expect that group to simply meekly allow themselves to be colonised and, inevitably, dominated. That is oppression of women. By men. Again. And the very fact that Tennant, a man, has made this idiotic statement is the evidence.

I have nothing against the LGBT community but I really dislike when the radicals in that group and any other radical groups try to force their ideals and beliefs down other people's throats. I'm christian and I don't go around forcing my religious beliefs on other people but if people are curious about it then I am happy to talk about it. What people do in their lives and with their bodies is between them and God.
