Browne vs Pascal Full Fight: August 3, 2019 - PBC on FOX

- Former world champion Jean Pascal (34-6-1, 20 KOs) earned a narrow technical decision over previously unbeaten Marcus Browne (23-1, 16 KOs) to capture the WBA interim light heavyweight title after an accidental headbutt ended the fight in round eight.
Browne appeared to be in control early, using his jab effectively and finishing his combos with power punches. Throughout the fight, Browne would land 52% of his power punches according to CompuBox.
In round four, Pascal broke through landing a perfect right hand that connected with Browne as he threw his own right hook. Browne hit the canvas for the third time in his career, but was able to make it through the round.
Browne looked to have regained control of the fight until late in round seven when Pascal again connected on a powerful right hook that caught Browne during an exchange. Pascal jumped on Browne after he got to his feet and knocked him down a third time right before the bell ended round seven.
Montreal's Pascal was looking to finish Browne in round eight, while Browne looked to effectively navigate the ring while recovering from the previous round. It was midway through the round that Pascal hit Browne with an accidental headbutt on the ropes that opened a cut over Browne's left eye.
Referee Gary Rosato halted the bout 1:49 into the round, on the advice of the ringside physician, meaning the fight went to the scorecards. By winning the shortened eighth round on all three judges' cards, Pascal won the fight by the score of 75-74 three times.

Completely forgot about Marcus browne. In the amateurs he was feared! Literally people would either move up or go down in weight just to avoid him. Good to see him as a champ. Definitely underrated and hope to see him in big fights in the near future! He should've been one of those fighters who got big fights with a small professional record 💯

Crazy 7th round. Pascal actually looked like he was ready to go. Browne got careless too much. This should have been an easy win. He was punishing Pascal.
Rookie mistake by Browne. You don't load up on a punch or throw wide when you are standing directly in front of your opponent. If he'd just stepped outside Pascal's left before opening up he wouldn't have been cracked with any of those right hands.

Pascal did a great job that night. He actually boxed some ! I remember Pascal at 160 lbs and he boxed awesome (easy to find his early fights on youtube) And for some reason he became a brawler and now came back with more boxing. Good call ! (Stephane Larouche is a GREAT trainer also ;)

Browne reminds me of Andre Dirrell. All the talent in the world but lacking in intangibles. Getting beaten by Hopkins was a blessing in disguise for Pascal. He probably learned from the master how to use the young lion's impetuousness against him. Maybe he and Kovalev should do it one more time and then both men call it a day.

Browne's corner at the end of round 7 was pure chaos, after suffering two knockdowns you need your cornermen to help you slow down your thoughts, regain your composure and provide you with sound strategic advice. They failed him in that regard.

Browne's got a suspect chin no doubt. Pascal is not a big puncher at all. He's got just 5 stoppage wins in 19 fights as a light heavyweight all against lower level opposition, yet he floored Browne HEAVILY on multiple occasions. That's serious cause for concern if you're Marcus Browne. The entire 175 pound division is filled with bangers. What happens when someone like Beterbiev or Kovalev hits his chin? That excellent skillset won't do him much good if his chin can't hold up.
Your right about pascal never been that good of a puncher but he seem To be the stronger fighter all thèse years...im from montreal so we know all détail about thèse boxers...it seem like the new coach of jean pascal is not better then marc Ramsay(his old coach) but have find à way To add better technical skillz for one or two punch...that knock punch in particular they definitly practice it and prépare it...Will see in next fight if he can repeat those type of clean one punch knock down

I absolutely despise the fact that the refs will allow clinching in some matches and yet IMMEDIATELY intervene the moment there is a clinch in other matches. There should never be a difference.
yeah it's ridiculous. it's like giving refs discretion to allow a 15 count over a 10 count. like which is it? clinching should be allowed but should be immediately broken if the clinch doesn't result in close distance infighting. if they're just hugging, break it. and if it's done too much, take points away. just look at wlad and him always having had his personal refs in germany allowing his hugging, if they were consistent with the rules he couldn't have pulled that shit.
