Thank you for this! I love dancing Kawachi Ondo, but since they pushed the festival forward, I can't really get into it anymore. For me, Kawachi Ondo is a thing I like to participate in during Bon Odori, and somehow it feels strange to do it after Obon. I like the feeling of getting out there and doing it in the sweltering heat, sweating like crazy as the sun sets and really experiencing summer at its unbearable peak - with song and dance! :)
Thank you for watching Deep Japan channel. When I was a child, I went to grand mother's house located in the rural area famous for tea product. On the mountain top there was a temple, and Bon Odori was held there. It was a small village but a sound and the lights of lanterns were so exciting. Actually it was not so hot at night in those days. I know what you mean.
Aw, is there not enough anime in this video for you? Judging by how there are next to no comments on this video over a day after publishing, it's sadly revealing how shallow the average foreigner's interest in Japanese culture actually is.
Well actually, more than half my family is japanese and I've been living between 2 countries for 30 years, anime isn't my thing but thanks super judgemental cat lady. 😊
