@marcthecoolman I'm good friends with him. He told me when he was practicing for this competition, he would play this solo 10 times a day as his training.
lol! Kobe Bryant can drum? lol this guys such a monster. I heard that Phantom scouted him in 06 as well as the Freelancers wgi line in 08, but he turned down the freelancers. I wish I could say I marched Boston, Phantom, BD, and turned down the Freelancers! lucky ass! :-)
Great chops. Well written solo with no stupid flashy crap. Just solid rudimental drumming. Also, he looks like a very humble guy. Only one complaint. The drum sounds like crap. The tuning is horrible.
I think he's the best I've ever seen. Perfect control.
he has the some of the most fucking amazing control i've seen ever in dci, or even drumming period.....
Wow, Noel Alvarez is the real deal. Outstanding. It looks like he barely broke a sweat - what chops!
Wow, when he did the backsticking starting at 1:40 his sound quality did not change at all! Very impressive!
Exactly!
i think its crazy how the snare drum champion from I&E is usually a blue devil. good techs out there.
Sick! I'm really impressed
He might be my snare tech this year!!!

He is my legit cousin
He has a cool claw technique.
Yup! in 04. and he used a couple of the same licks from that I&E
Saw 'im at SeaWorld yesterday. =]
Ah thank you.
Excellent.
awesome noel...now if you can just get that 'shave and a hair cut' stick toss down in our stilt show at sea world, you'll be better than perfect, lol.
@Palavalve haha, i was on bass drum standing next to him at sea world.
that shit is sooo sick!!!

His snare drum sounds a lot gentler than the other guys. Maybe he loosened the snares a little or maybe he is just a great player or probably both.
Right both
2:58 - 3:05 hehe, someone's been influenced by scott johnson :)
Be well

You play for atleast ten hours everyday. 5 minutes becomes nothing lol.

he's weird, he has no expressions like other soloists.
boring compared to the 1990 champ :\
