Awww, so sorry for them. I hope they've found their forever home by now, such a nice couple! Nicki is just so wonderful, so warmhearted! I love that I get to travel the UK from home as I sadly cannot afford to travel, or buy a stunning house in a beautiful location. This episode was very informative, I've as usual enjoyed it a lot!
Moral of the story, if you have a $500,00 budget, and the property is listed at$400,00; if you have a competitor for the property purchase, and if the property is perfect for you, don't offer the asking price, offer AT LEAST 20-40% over asking price. What a shame.
Obvoiously there is a time factor here - sometimes these things take months, and the show goes out before all is settled. Also, I have heard that some buyers don't want it made public that they have moved in !
The purchasing system in Australia and New Zealand is so much quicker and simpler. You see a house you like, and can sign a binding contract the same day (assuming the agent approves your financial position). No waiting for weeks for offers to be accepted, and no gazumping.
More complicated in Germany. As long as you don’t have the cash on your account. When you decide on the house first you need to take the contract draft and details of the property to your bank of choice. Banks here decide on each property separately, so it’s not like you get your budget approved beforehand. Most times they want to also look at the property themselves. That could take a few weeks. If it gets approved by the bank, you need a notary date to sign the deal. If the property was vacant, good for you, you can probably take over right away. If it’s still lived in, you would set up the date in the contract and if everything goes as planned take over on the set date. If that happened, you notify your bank and they wire the money to the seller. The seller then notifies the notary and the notary officially closes the deal. It could take months
So true. That large looking house with only three bedrooms, one bathroom upstairs, tiny, unfinished kitchen and 16 acres of land! To do what with? I don’t think the extra 100,000 is going to be enough to reno the mum’s house, reno the other buildings for b&bs, enlarge the kitchen and omg! Take all that horrid wallpaper down!
I liked the mordern finish of the 2nd property but it felt a bit too dark. I liked the 1st onw better, brighter, airy, more bedrooms plus income potential from outbuildings and cheaper as well. I will update the bathrooms though. The kitchen however was perfect
There r a couple shows where they go back and visit couples all settled in their new homes. Was that from a series or do they appear randomly in different Seasons. Would like to see more of those. They r fun especially as I remembered the couples. Thanks if u can help what S and E are the return shows?
Didn’t the Mother in law put the sale of her home up in order to purchase the home, she was overlooked because Stuart wanted more land which was unfair.
I'm glad they loved the mystery house but in allllll of northern Ireland they couldn't' find one house with 3-4 bedrooms with an annexe and 10 acres? they had the whole country to look in and not one was what they said they wanted. oh well they did good with the mystery house. still those out buildings are going to take years to get to what they want them for.
Ruth is such a delightful, happy, smiley person. This episode was a delight to watch.
Ruth and Stuart couldn't have been nicer so I really hope something even better came along!

I wish there was a return to the country where you can find out if any couple bought the houses they viewed 🤔

It said at the end that someone beat them in with an offer so they were still looking.
Yes, please. An end of year episode would be wonderful! 👏👏👏👏👏

Same in the US

Now 27/11/23.. There is a program now called “I escaped to the country.” Revisits some ETTC overs.
Thanks for the info!
House number 1 was stunning too many reception rooms tho, the 2nd house was also very nice.
Me too, I preferred the 1st house to the 2nd.
The mystery house is way too much work!! I like the second one.

the 2nd house is exquisite !
They're very lucky, the mystery house was nothing but a huge money pit.
I have watched this before and I like this one soooo much, I had to see it again. Thank you so much!!!!

👍👍👍 Real full episode including end credits. Every episode of Escape To The Country should be of this audio, visual and editing quality.

Just Google the series. Not on You Tube, unfortunately.
Really enjoyed the bit about
Titanic
The Titanic? Got it!!!
This couple had better get estimates on the cost of ALL the work!
A new build that provides only ONE bathroom for four bedrooms! Geez.
How incredibly disappointing for that lovely couple….hope they found something even better.

Not to mention the money!😱😱😱😱
If this guy says "glampin" 1 more time, he's going to be in serious danger of losing his man-card!
Escape -to- the Country: Northern Ireland
That turd of a 3rd house needs a ton of polish!! Lovely family though!!
