I loved how at 0:35 they were like: Cloud: "You know who Sephiroth is, do you?" The singer: "It's your reflection looking back to pull you down." Aerith: "Sephiroth, the war hero?" Sephiroth: "YOUR NIGHTMARE." dAmN! ThE cHiLl DX
He's actually the victim in all of it, he was betrayed by Shinra and instead of his friends helping him take on Shinra or suggest it he was betrayed by them as well. It goes to show that some heroes have to sacrifice even if it's someone they cared. Cloud obviously cared but was then haunted of the thought of not being a soldier. If Cloud had instead turned on Shinra and fought with Sephiroth I think the story would've been even better, understanding the betrayal Sephiroth faced. Sephiroth is a character that we must see the mistakes one can make, same with Cloud. I'm sure Cloud could've at least convinced him it wasn't the world that betrayed him, just Shinra, if he hadn't been so blinded with emotions, however, we won't really know. And yes, I've seen the reason why Cloud had to fight him, Sephiroth was to far gone, yet he could've been saved somehow if Hojo hadn't snaked his way.
Sephiroth lover here, I don't think he's salvageable at all post finding out the truth surrounding his birth. His literal psyche was shattered. He's not in his right mind currently or during the first time he and Cloud met. As far as Cloud was concerned, Sephiroth was just a former hero that destroyed his hometown. Angeal was basically dead by that point and Genesis was an iffy friend leaving only Zack who 1.) didn't quite understand the situation, and 2.) tried his best to reach Sephiroth only to be blocked out by the mental breakdown. This isn't about Shinra's betrayal in Sephiroth's eyes anymore, he and Zack had already tried rebelling, this is about his destiny and jenova. Sadly, he can't be saved, he only seeks destruction :(
Yes he is a victim. But he is too far gone to be redeemed. Not only would it harm the fandom's perspective on him, but it also just isn't something he wants. Just like Cloud, he had a choice to either embrace hate or to move on. He chose to hate, murder, and enjoys bringing suffering to others. In OTWTAS, he purposefully let go of all of his humanity. He wants nothing to do with his humanity, and therefore is not redeemable.
@@Phantomyre Before he turned he was persuaded by Genesis and Hojo. If Zack or cloned Angeal had killed Weasley Hojo, then it probably would've taken a different direction. That's just a theory. Yes, mission would've failed successfully, however, the changes would've outweighed the consequence of the inevitable thing called plot armor, which admittedly kept Cloud and others alive, although Cloud died against copy Sephiroth in AC. I hate those two brothers. 😒
I beg to differ with anyone that claims Sephiroth is irredeemable. I think if he were to redeem himself, he'd have to sacrifice himself to destroy Jenova, and that would only happen if he were to realize Jenova turned him into a monster for her/its own agenda, not out of motherly love for him. And his actions, while still must be accounted for, you can't blame him (therefore self sacrifice). Also, there're villains that are far worse like Darth Vader, and not much of a case was even made for his redemption, but hey, he was given a redemption arc, everyone accepts it, and him having a redemption arc has done NOTHING to his villain cred. So is Sephiroth too far gone? Comparing him to the likes of Vader, nope. He isn't. Sephiroth would have to come to his senses and actively, purely on his own volition and right mind to choose destruction to really be irredeemable. Up to this point, he's been Jenova's victim and victim of his circumstances. FF7R could very well be offering just that. An interesting, complex, redemptive arc.
Tyler VA is growing on me and he's a cutie too. I loved George Newbern his voice will always haunt me as Sephiroth - hearing his voice as he says "on your knees" still gives me chills, but I do understand it's been 15 years since he did it so maybe he's not up to it no more?

Whoa. Holy crap. This is BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely GORGEOUS in every way possible. I've never seen an AMV look this gorgeous before. Sephiroth is my favorite character. I was introduced to him when he made his surprise debut in the legendary Smash Bros. Ultimate game and I instantly fell heads over heels in love with him, ditching my three ex-mains for him in five seconds, lol. I didn't know who this GORGEOUS man was, but by God, he caused me to be on my knees for him instantly when I saw his Ultimate trailer. I'm so happy that I have him as my brand new main. I love Sephiroth. I got the one-winged angel as a Christmas present on Sunday, December 20th, 2020 after completing the Sephiroth Challenge on all three difficulties and he's been my main ever since. He's currently the second strongest main that I've used, the first being Joker. I pair him up with Bowser for the Spirit Board, its DLC counterparts and the Spirit Events. The Spirits I use for him are Sirius, Aerith and Karel and these Spirits make my new main OP like crazy, especially in Smash Mode and Tourney. PS: When I faced off against Sephiroth in Very Hard mode, his A.I. was CRAZY, WILD, DANGEROUS, something I've never seen in ANY CPU in any Smash game before. I've faced Level 9's in Classic Mode, but the Level 9 Sephiroth just takes that Level up to 11. His attacks were dangerous and elegant in his reveal trailer, unlike any character I've ever seen before and I knew that he was my perfect, forever main after searching for many months because Joker, Dark Pit and Blue Yoshi weren't cutting it for me after using them all the time. I was nervous of using the silver-haired fallen angel at first, but Sephiroth has taught me to face my fears and like him, this song has taught me to conquer my fears and spread my wings and fly, meaning I have to challenge myself and don't be afraid of anything because all my fear is going to do is bring me down. NOTE: Sephiroth is a BEAUTIFUL, DANGEROUS man and I LOVE him! And I'm happy that he's a guest star in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! He's more legendary than any antagonist that we've ever had in the game! He's blessed me GREATLY with his strength!
